WWFan Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 Brownstown beat Salem 54-12. Brownstown #40 is fun to watch! Valley beats WW 55-15. About what I expected. WW just has too much work to do. Paoli next week won't help. Paoli leading PC 40-0 at half. What in the hell has happened at Perry Central? Quote

IUFAN Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Just a reminder: It's the second week of breaking down teams with a little detail, so bear with me! I would love to continue to have a breakdown like this before each game if I have time to do so. If you hear anything about these schools, please send me a message or reply with something you know or are hearing! And yes, I will miss picks and may have information that is incorrect and needs to be corrected 😂 Week 5 Match-Ups: Crawford County (+3) at Mitchell The Wolfpack and the Bluejackets start back-to-back seasons winless through four weeks, and the two teams are searching for their first win. The good news for See and Stroud is that one of them will pick up their first career win as a head coach at their respected schools. Both teams have struggled to stop opposing offenses four weeks into the season, and I think the Wolfpack will struggle more to stop the Bluejackets. Paoli (-28) at West Washington The Rams have a chance to start the season 5-0 for the first time since 2018, in which they were able to win a sectional championship. Will history repeat itself? Only time will tell as the season plays out for the Rams. Meanwhile, for the Senators, it has been an up-and-down season with its younger talent. Unfortunately for the Senators' youth, I look for an experienced Rams team to go to 5-0 for the first time in 6 years. Salem (+18) at Springs Valley The Lions kicked off the season opener with an impressive win against the Cougars but, unfortunately, have been unable to get things back on track since then. Could this be the week the Lions look to right the ship? The Blackhawks are coming off a conference win against the Senators in dominant fashion. The Blackhawks are third in the state in scoring average, while the Lions have struggled to stop opposing offenses over the last several weeks. I look for the Blackhawks and their high-powered offense to continue this week vs the Lions. Tecumseh (+7) at Perry Central If you were to ask both coaches about their season so far, they'd tell you that they were hoping to start the season on a better note. However, for the Commodores this time last year, this began their streak of three consecutive wins. Will that be the same, or will the Braves look to bounce back after a tough loss last week? I look for Malone and the Commodores to pick up their second win of the season. Brownstown (-18) at North Harrison Could this be the team that leads May and the Braves to a sectional title for the first time since 2018? The Braves have the highest average margin of victory in the entire state of Indiana. Although the Cougars are off to a strong start for a third consecutive season, they will run into a team playing great football. I look for the Braves to win this game against an opponent they haven't taken a loss to since 2017. Charlestown (+14) at Providence Not every day you see a 1A football program taking on a 4A football program during the middle of the season, however, it has seemed to work for the Pioneers over the last few seasons. McDonald had ups and downs during his first few years at Providence, but since then, he has won back-to-back sectional championships. Will the Pioneers make it three in a row, or can someone knock them off? As for the Pirates, things have not gone as they would have liked up to this point. Can they look to right the ship against a smaller program? I look for the Pioneers to continue its high level of play and to go 5-0 for the second straight season. Corydon (-4) at Eastern Pekin The Panthers and Musketeers start with a schedule that isn't friendly to either of them. The combined opponent's record is 25-7. There aren't a ton of cakewalks for either, and this might be a week for either team to steal a game from the other. Historically, the Musketeers have struggled against the Panthers, but is this the same Panthers program from the past? I look for the Musketeers who played the Dragons close last week to make it back-to-back wins against the Panthers. Scottsburg (-3) at Silver Creek As I was looking through the games this week, one might think this could be the best game of the week. Both teams statistically are about as evenly matched as you can get. However, as far as series history goes, the Dragons have dominated this series, winning all the matchups. I look for the Dragons to continue their streak against the Warriors, who can't seem to figure out the Dragons. I think Silver Creek's defense could be the deciding factor. Bonus Game: Linton (-14) at Boonville Can the Miners look to keep the streak alive vs the Pioneers? The Miners picked up an impressive win against Monrovia a few weeks back and have carried the momentum through the last two weeks. As for the Pioneers, this is the worst start since 2021. Could it be because of the schedule? The Pioneers' opponents have combined for a record of 11-5, and I don't see things getting easier this week. The Pioneers are looking for their first win against an opponent with a winning record, and the way the Miners are playing it will be difficult for the Pioneers. For the Miners, I look for them to keep the win streak alive this week. 1 Quote

WWFan Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Went and watch the PLAC youth league today. Every team has some decent athletes coming. Some have a few monster sized kids (looking at you Perry), but came away most impressed with Crawford county. My 6th year watching this youth league and gotta say that was probably the best CC team I can remember. They didn't win (don't know if they have won all season). But they weren't scared. Mitchell actually had to make some drives. Usually it's just 1 play drives for the opponents and game gets ugly quickly. They had couple kids who could get outside, pretty good fundamentals all around really, and some good looking new uniforms. Also they had people in crowd really into it and engaged (1 really loud guy in a good way) that cheered no matter what. On top of it all had about 20 kids in the 5/6. Just a few years ago they had to play 10 on 10 after 1 kid got hurt. Will it lead to wins in the future? Who knows. But right now it appears that maybe they have the team going in right direction. Props to them and who ever is coaching those kids because i was surprised by them today 1 Quote
