temptation
Less than one year removed from a national title, LSU is cleaning house in terms of their defensive staff. Guess they can get a head start on the search after that “self imposed bowl ban...” Edited December 21, 2020 by temptation
Footballking16
National championship or not, Ed Orgeron isn’t a very good coach. Lucked into Joe Burrow, who was meh as a junior, and parlayed it into a special year. Players coach and a helluva recruiting but very mediocre when it comes to X’s and O’s. Yeah, and the icing on the top was boy genius passing game coordinator who went back to the NFL as an OC with Carolina. It was the perfect storm for O. NFL talent/coaching across the board on offense.
Irishman
It really is too bad though that he is just a mediocre coach. Orgeron is the type of character that is great to have around.

That's all playing in the hardest division in college football. Was 3-7 against Saban with 2 of those losses coming in OT. Recruiting and talent influx will never be a problem for Orgeron given their monopoly on in-state recruiting but I don't see his coaching abilities ever allowing him to be a consistent 10+ game winner like his predecessor. I think you may have answered your own question. You make great points but the “3-7 against Saban” comment may be the key. Folks in administration just don’t get how difficult it is to compete with the elites year in and year out in college football. LSU “sold its soul” to win it all in 2020 and is already paying the price. The problem is if you asked nearly every single person on the roster or staff if it was worth it? Bet they’d say “yes.” With the way the NCAA is set up, the rewards of cheating outweigh any potential risks. Bet they are really suffering by not playing in the Meineke Car Care Bowl next week. Because SEC fans are lunatics who think their next coach should put them on the Saban/Alabama level. I will give O credit for doing what HC's should do and put together one helluva staff in 2019. He's always toing ot have NFL talent in Baton Rouge. It appears he will always be dependant on the staff he builds around him.

temptation
For those keeping score at home, that is now THREE $EC schools (LSU, Tennessee and now Florida) who are under investigation this month alone for improper actions. Is LSU still being investigated? After all they self-imposed a bowl ban for this season. 😂😆🤣😅

I’m too lazy to look it up. What did Tennessee and Florida do? Is LSU under fire for something other than the sexual abuse handling? It’s unreal their BB coach is still employed.
