TRC Week 4
TightEndOpenAgain replied to First_Backer_Inside's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Lewis Cass over Manchester 30-14. Cass bounces back after a focused week of practice Maconaquah over Whitko. Game will be close early…but only because it starts tied. I’ll see myself out ha Battle for supreme Tigers.. Game of the week in the conference to me. Peru has to defend a good assault from the skies for the first time this season. Peru has played an overall tougher schedule so far. I’ll go 28-20 Purple over Bengal. But I’m not sold it. Rochester over Clinton Prairie 34-18. Guessing a bit here Northfield over Southwood 28-14. Seems the rivalry the last 20 years has had respectable scores even when there’s a sizable talent difference. With the exception of a handful of course - Today

Any info or analysis on his current situation? I noticed he got in for mop up time against Purdue. It was disappointing to see he is not the starting QB.

Welp the time you all been waiting for. Even all those readers who don't make profiles and join the convo! Time for my picks Crawford County @ South Decatur- I still can't believe Crawford got beat by Brown County the way they did. Ive said it a ton...I wish every PLAC team would be good. Would only help come tourny time. Unfortunately it might be an 0-10 season for the pack Mitchell @ Eastern Greene- Both teams are rebuilding. In the Southwest threat Mitchell was getting 32 pts! Not sure this is a blowout....but ill take the birds at home. Perry Central @ Paoli- PC ended its losing streak last week which was good to see. Paoli looked decent for about 1.5 Quarters against Valley last week. Not sure PC is ready to win this game. Paoli gets back on track after losing Orange Bowl for 2nd straight season. West Washington @ Springs Valley- This is basically the PLAC title match after the Blackhawks put it to Paoli. Shocked at amount of people picking the Senators in this one. Dont think the Run game is good enough and Valley is gonna run 4 dudes all night against em. WW gave up 37 to TC and i think Valley has a better O. WW may be better but not sure they are ready to win. Brownstown @ Salem- luckily for me I don't have to fall into the Salem trap this week. Brownstown JV may get Varsity time every game till....Semi St? Braves by whatever they want Corydon @ Scottsburg- Harrison County is struggling in football this season. I cant pick either one for possibly rest of the season. North Harrison @ Charlestown- See above? Kind of the same....only this one may get ugly. Silver Creek @ Madison- Closest game of the week? Might be. 2 things keep costing me. Believing in Salem....doubting Madison. Brownstown helped me this week. But I'm going against the cubs again! Why? I dunno.

I think it doesn't matter what conference you are in , every year there a a couple Indy bubble teams you are not going to beat . Look at the very tough HCC conference, Fishers just got waxed 47-0 by Carmel and 48-0 by LN . If this were Penn or any Northern team taking these butt kickings, we would never hear the end of it . Why isn't this very tough conference helping Fishers this year ? Hse is also in the HCC, they got destroyed by Carroll .
-
I can't answer why Penn doesn't leave the NIC . Maybe they weighed the extra cost vs reward of joining the DAC and it doesn't make sense . Let's be honest , Penn plays in a weak ass conference and they managed to beat the DAC's best last year in the playoffs .

Actually about 10 Minutes

BNL FC CE Kokomo -
Its a long drive.....time to live like most of the conferences in Indiana. See above the PAC has figured it out....why can't Penn? Probably schedule those games for a Saturday in your other sports. Long drives aren't stopping schools with way less resources than Penn from finding a conference with more balanced competion.
-
I'm not going to argue with you about distances of schools , but comparing a 41 mile drive from Carmel to CG in Indy traffic, to 88 miles from Penn to Crown Point or Lake Central in Chicago traffic is funny . I've been to a Friday night game at Lake Central , it took well over 3 Hours to get there .
-
Exactly.... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Penn only has one conference opponent in another county....and its Elkhart. Which is probably a 30 minute drive tops.
-
The Pocket Athletic Conference extends across Perry, Spencer, Dubois, Warrick, Gibson, Pike, and Posey counties. ETA: Forgot Daviess County now that Washington is in the conference.
-
The travel times would be comparable or even shorter than several other conferences in Indiana. My guess is the longest drive would be to LC....a shade under 2 hours depending on traffic (which is long). Most DAC schools are closer. Penn has lived in the cocoon of never having to drive across more than one couny line for an NIC game for several decades. Get over yourselves.... Do you know how many conferences extend across 4 or more counties? Do you know what conference Richmond is in???? Do you know which schools are in the Sagamore conference??? Do you know what the driving time is from Carmel to Center Grove on a weeknight with 465 traffic? Give me a break....
-
And my point is ,in most of the years of those blowout State losses, Penn was playing in state and out of state powerhouse teams . How did it work out for them ?
