  1. Past hour
  2. This won't increase transfer numbers much...it will just expedite the process by eliminating all the back and forth and legal types getting involved. This is a great idea.
  3. Today
  4. They lose 16 starters from last year’s team according to the State Finals preview Offense: 9 starters Defense: 7 starters
  5. This will widen the gap between the good and the bad. Might as well start the running clock after the first quarter.
  6. This is a big part of my reasoning for having no issue with this should it come to fruition. Kids (and parents) should be able to make the best decision for their athletic and/ or academic futures (like coaches are allowed to do) without being handcuffed by a governing body or institution. I actually believe the 1 time transfer rule might help eliminate some of the transfer portal behavior I see going on out here presently (kids going to more than 2 high schools in 4 years).
  7. It hasn't been reported (to my knowledge), but I understand the topic was brought up to some extent in the recent meetings. I don't have any knowledge of the finances at any school except my own, but it seems to me the big difference between NIL in college and HS is that the NCAA and colleges profit off of the athletes. To my knowledge there aren't any TV contracts, etc. that generate significant funds for HS conferences and jersey sales, etc. for individual schools. I don't see that at our school. We pay to have our football games streamed on Indiana SRN, not the other way around.
  8. We used to have one school wide one (totally parent ran)...it kind of died off with lack of leadership in the past few years. Individual sports one have taken it's place in recent years (again totally removed from the school). These groups are incorporated for purposes of 501C3 reporting and the school really wants nothing to do with it. From my understanding this is more the norm in the land of publics. Finding money can be challenging if a sport that doesn't have a strong booster group and makes a deeper than expected run in the playoffs. Said another way, the schools do nothing to raise private funding. In some cases Coaches choose to take it upon themselves.
  9. Does North Posey lose a lot from last year? As usual, I expect GS and HH to battle it out for Big Division. Don't know much about TC or SR, other than SR always seems to be at the top of the Small.
  10. This would be a hard case for the IHSAA or schools to win if this were to go to the courts.
  11. I was not aware of that. Our booster club (now) operates under the supervision of the AD so the money raised is used how the AD wants, not how individual boosters want. We used to have a bunch of sport groups hitting up the same people over and over and it became a real problem. Does GS have separate clubs for each sport?
  12. At most publics the AD has nothing to do with the any of the Booster clubs. Man, starting to see a trend here.
  13. Way too early pre-season rankings: Chime in! Big School 1. Heritage Hills 2. Gibson Southern 3. Boonville 4. Mt. Vernon 5. Washington 6. Princeton Small School 1. Tell City 2. Southridge 3. North Posey 4. Forest Park 5. South Spencer 6. Pike Central 7. Tecumseh
  14. All those teams should like that sectional, honestly. First of all-- removing East Central cannot be understated... Mooresville gets out too? Huge.
  15. I feel like the IHSAA is making this too difficult on themselves. Whoever the student is enrolled with when schools return from Dead Week, is who you are eligible to play for that school year. The only exceptions would be an actual physical move. If they wanted to put some limitations on it, maybe an athlete cannot return to a previous school without sitting out a year.
  16. As long as there is no undue influence, I support this. Coaches can leave for better opportunities, so why not kids? I like that it takes the IHSAA out of the process for determining whether a transfer was for athletic reasons or not. Why does it really matter? Coaches leave for better positions all the time.
  17. More funding than originally thought for the Pro-Hamas protests......And people are acting surprised about this. https://nypost.com/2024/05/05/us-news/left-leaning-outlet-mocked-for-being-surprised-on-who-is-funding-anti-israel-protests/ Anti-Israel protesters who have descended on college campuses are reportedly getting funding from several big-name Democratic donors, according to a report, that have backed President Biden’s re-election efforts. Democratic donors such as George Soros, the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, David Rockefeller Jr., who sits on the board of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and Susan and Nick Pritzker, who own the Hyatt Hotel corporation, have funded pro-Palestinian efforts to protest the Israel-Hamas war, Politico reported. Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow are the main organizations behind the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University, as well as other campuses, according to the outlet. They are backed by the Tides Foundation, which receives a substantial amount of funding from Soros, as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, and distributes money to left-wing causes.
  18. Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse begins the defense of last year’s national championship. After winning the ACC regular season and tournament titles, and finishing the regular season ranked #1, the defending champs enter the NCAA tournament as the #1 overall seed. Duke is seeded #2. The Irish have beaten Duke the last 5 times they have played.
