I’m flyin’ too high for your little ole sky. When I first joined the GID 12 years ago, it was to bash P/P’s, one in particular. I got schooled on that by a guy whose main mode of transportation is a John Deere tractor. Once I saw the light, I let all that go. When an opening came up in the OOB after a crash, I was all over it. Most of my post count came from those glory days, ah the good ole days. They always say “you’ll know when it’s time” and they were right. I’m going with more positive reactions than anyone in GID History. I know, I know, I’m listed as 3rd in reputation points, but that’s just due to all the downvotes I received in the process. If you all would be so kind, I can still make it to the top with your cooperation in downvoting that guy in the striped shirt and The Professor every chance you get. Thank you for your support. After driving one of my children to an athletic event or team practice for 35 out of the last 40 years, that era has ended also. I’m gonna have a lot of time on my hands. No more waiting at the school burning up gas in the winter and summer, no more phone calls saying ‘practice is over early’, no more cries of ‘you left me at the rest area’, no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They bring back quite a bit from their team last year with another full offseason with one of the best coaching staffs in the entire state. I think they're definitely still a tier below the top two but I think they beat Chesterton again and while City does have a D1 backfield battery they lost a lot. Don't think this is too much of a hot take, but maybe I'm wrong. I really do think the Bulldogs have a shot to be the 6A North team that's fed to an Indy power in the semistate next year.

The IHSAA should be applauded for their efforts to enlarge the pool of crews available to advance. Unfortunately, this amounts to putting lipstick on a pig. As long as the coaches’ vote is the primary factor in advancement, the problem remains. Perception is reality. And the prevailing perception among officials is that there is no direct connection between the coaches’ vote and officiating proficiency. It is very difficult to convince officials that if they pay more attention to things like proper mechanics and consistent application of proper philosophy, they will became better officials, when the perception is that coaches don’t know anything about mechanics or philosophy, nor do they care and, therefore, excellence in those areas is not reflected in the coaches’ vote. This perception is bolstered when, for example, a crew shows up every 4 years for decades in Indianapolis on Thanksgiving weekend, and their mechanics look like a Saturday Night Live skit. Other officials see that and ask themselves why they should care about those things if the coaches who hold the crews’ tournament advancement in their hands don’t. It’s hard to fault that logic. So, some officials quit in frustration. But even those that don’t are not being properly incentivized, and the quality of officiating suffers as a result.

Not so sure you can pat yourself on the back for avoiding an argument that you voluntarily dragged the other person in to.

I think if it’s up to O’Sheas he’ll keep them both on the schedule. He’s always been up for a challenge to test his teams, I swear to God he has.

With CG and Carmel out of the conference, there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel for LC/LN/NC/Pike. With the exception of Pike, the other three have tasted some success the last few years against Ben Davis and/or Warren Central in some capacity. The mountain that one of these teams need to climb in order to be named MIC champions just became a hill. Would still bet on WC and BD finishing 1-2 in some order but you just never know.

Should be a fun season. I’ve been off of here for a few years but found my way back. Wonder if any of my old buddies are still here

My son was a 2 year starter and captain. He loves coach. Wish my other 2 boys could have played for him. The culture in the program is awesome. The program is year round from weights to study tables and character building. Coach Mason has the total support of the administration and the board. I know he was thinking about retirement and several parents ask him to stay. Not sure Bush and Hart would be there without him. This years team will be young. Guess there will always be haters and doubters. There is no pressure on him other than what he puts on himself.

Honestly think this conference is more open than people want to lead on. Ben Davis and Warren get the obvious nod due to name recognition, but BD and WC talent at the top has dropped off significantly. LC has the best player in the conference by far. North Central already has two FBS commits in its senior class which is more than BD and WC to my knowledge. Pike and LN both have a few kids getting D1 looks. Warren Central's schedule could end up being a blessing or a curse. Open up with two extremely tough opponents who should be nationally ranked. Playing tough and competitive should keep the morale high but I think there's a decent chance Warren gets housed in both games and could lead to a let down game once conference action starts.

My experience with the MIC is usually pretty good considering I went to Warren Central. I agree that the Warriors will win the conference title this season. Ben Davis will more than likely finish second. Pike might surprise me. I know the Lawrences are talented. NC is the bottom of the barrel.

No argument. He’s proved he can buy top quality groceries. Now let’s see if he can cook. I’m excited about the recruiting … because that’s all there is to be excited about this time of year.

Kids today are naturally bigger, faster, stronger than kids 20 years ago as were kids 20 years ago bigger, faster, stronger than the kids who came 20 years before them. I don’t really care about a hypothetical matchup between teams from two decades apart, it’s a worthless and nonsensical exercise. But it’s laughable to think Roncalli is in some unprecedented or uncharted waters in their football history. They may be one of the few teams who have a “college-sized line” (or whatever the hell that means), yet won’t even be favored to come out of their regional.

????? Seriously, what are these “reputation points” of which you speak? I’ve never even looked at that in all my years on the GID. Is it like the coaches’ vote? 🤣😅

How come every time they talk about Jennings County & Madison, somebody got to bring up the EIAC.

I’m a huge fan of the NLC. I believe there are lot of great teams in this conference. They all have the tools to compete year in and out for 4a ship. Warsaw-Hands down will run this conference this year. Bart ball is always overwhelming and can bite you. It’s effective and they just get it done plain and simple. Hate the offense, but it will get them to state. Concord- Defending champs. They had all the kids in the right spots and had a great team connection. It showed with there play. Love that coach there. He gets those dudes to play. They will be right at the top and be a force within conference. One thing is concord always has a surprise. Count on it. Plymouth- New coach. I really don’t have much to say. John Barron was a great coach. But the wheels fell off. Change is good, and I hope Plymouth can get back to being a force. Wawasee- They seem to have a lot of issues from numbers. Kids just not wanting to go out. A complete overall of wawasee might be needed. That team was very competitive a distant memory ago. Hope they find there identity again. Northwood- They have everything in place to run the table this year. They are my pick for 4a north. They have the offense weapons. That defense will be a force with Evers leading the way. Team to watch from the north. Mishawaka- With Fishers departing people may think back to rebuilding and his brother is a year away. Everyone knows that offense can strike at any point! Then your chasing your tail. They will be right at the top. They will compete, because his brother is very on top that offense. Watch out. Northridge- Great run last year by this team. Wogoman built Northridge into a power and the kids knew the standard at Northridge. Everything was in place for them to peak. What can you say, it was a historic run. Can they do it again?. I think they can. They can be right at the top for a conference championship and compete in that tough sectional. Eppley will have them ready. Rumor mill was Gott moved for family reasons. Top 25 player in state. That hurts from a QB level. QB coach has his work cut out for him. Goshen- Wogoman era begins. What he built at Northridge with the culture and players beginning to believe they can compete. Goshen is in great hands. I think these kids were thirsty for a change. Watching a few games last year, they have some kids that got the edge. Senior class to be has some guys that got that football mentality they will compete! No doubt. I hope Goshen gets back to being Goshen.
