When one wins a championship we can revisit.

Mann, who teaches geometry and algebra, said he counts those state championship-winning coaches among his friends and mentors. Mann also coached on Mark Haste’s staff at North Central from 2006-08 and Keith Shelton in 2009 and ’10 before moving over to Lawrence Central to coach with West. After the Bears won the Class 5A state title in 2012, Mann joined West at Warren Central, which won the first 6A title in 2013. Bravo Coach....bravo.

I was on my 7th grade team but didn't play much. Played a lot more backyard football with friends. You don't need to have played to be a good official. You have to be willing to learn and understand rules, philosophies, and mechanics and enjoy the game. There tend to be more who played that become officials, but it's definitely not a requirement for guys. It shouldn't be a requirement for women.

I don't know....using that space where there used to be a factory makes a ton of sense. That is quite a sports complex in the downtown area with NFL and uses of Lucas Oil, Victory Field, and now this soccer complex. Also adjacent is the TCU amphitheater for concerts, NCAA HQ, museums, zoo, etc. The area by the river needs development, and this venue also provides more downtown hotel space (much needed) and restaurants. Lucas Oil needed more options around it and this is a great answer. Also, all of this is right across from a large convention center. Just hope they build the soccer stadium with the ability to expand so they can attract a MLS expansion team and perhaps use it for large outdoor concerts, etc.

First time I've seen the video. I don't know Coach Osborn, have never meet him (I know coaches at both schools in other sports, all good people) But let me be devil's advocate....I'm gonna try and be the one person to give him some benefit of the doubt from watching the video... Game ends, some CG kids rush the floor. In my opinion this isn't a really egregious "court storming" as the group more or less just runs out to celebrate with the CG players. Quite a bit of space between benches and this crowd. Not near as many people as I assumed based on the way I'd heard it described. Carmel players start to head over to shake hands with a few CG players on other side of scorer's table. But most CG players are in the celebration near center court. Carmel coach points for team to go back other way and around to leave. So now Carmel Coach is directing his team to go back around the crowd on their way out. They have to cross the scorer's table agin to do this and go out other end. During this time Coach has his back toward the CG celebration and there is space between him and Carmel players who are doing as they are told and heading out. At about this same time, it appears the CG players are being directed to go "shake hands" with the Carmel team and a line of CG players now starts to move between the exiting Carmel players and the Carmel coach. Players all look to be exhibiting good sportsmanship here. Looks like some CG coaches/officials are also trying to stay between this handshake line and the crowd...good for them. Carmel Coach is now kind of on his own, on the CG side of the handshake line, and starts to head towards the end of it to meet up with his team... Now from that point on, I can't tell from that grainy video what happens. But as a coach who has been around a lot of handshake lines...I don't see him "purposefully" storming through the crowd...at least initially. I think he didn't realize CG players were gonna walk through when/where they did for a handshake and he tried to cut around it as best he could. Did he do something inappropriate at the end? I sure can't tell from the video, so I won't say he did or he didn't. But I think my interpretation is at least a little different than some others.... Flame away if you want....just my 2 cents

I would expect no less from Carmel. I'd add '"hypocrisy" btw along with "pettiness". In fact, one might drown (swimming titles being surfeit) in the hypocrisy - aside from the fact Carmel has LONG been the public version of Cathedral - who they also have long hated. At least Cathedral is honest about just who they are (its not like they hide it) - without all the moral posturing BS....they simply want to win championships (ie. Basketball teams with no single CYO player to be found) and will find a means to accommodate that goal (find $ to pay tuition) whatever state you live in, color you might be or whatever "God" you care to worship....so long as you can help get that State Ring. No doubt Cathedal would wait until 6'9", 30 points/10 rebounds per game "Beelzebub" graduated before they found an even distant need for a postseason exorcist. With that, Carmel appears to love the lazy/easy/sad/DISEASED "trope" that somehow being a single geographic millimeter "North" of your opponent makes you somehow morally superior is more than sickening....and truly false. As someone who grew up in southern Indiana, it makes me puke a bit when Carmel even vaguely tries to use the race card in its favor. I've lived in both worlds...and lived North in Indianapolis since college...some 40 years ago. I'd take Center Grove's ability and quite clear willingness to welcome people of different races, creeds and religions any day of the week over Carmel - push coming to shove....if Carmel is truly forcing me to choose.

I have been out of town, but reading much about Carmel's plans to drop CG from all athletic competition. If this is truly about the basketball game with the student's rushing the floor, this really has my head scratching. I watch the video of a coach sending his players to walk around the students, yet he decides to aggressively push through the students bumping multiple kids along the way. And this is ok? Why didn't the head coach simply walk with his players? It would seem its the classic direction, "do what I say and not what I do". A 40+ year old man decides to push his way through a group of students in lieu of simply walking around them? And this is what Carmel admin is upset about? Yet they won't comment nor state how they plan to hold their coach accountable for an incident they initiated. So you drop your top rival for 25 years over that one incident? Its ok to have your players running off a field of competition for gun shots at a venue, but this type of incident self-instigated is the back breaker?? It makes zero sense......unless.... There is something deeper....I too believe Carmel is working to distance themselves from CG, to win favor from a number of MIC schools to get re-admitted to the conference. There is something more going on here. 25 years together competing and can't even reach out to their rival school to discuss like adults? Blind side with an announcement to the same school that stuck besides them when attempting to join the HCC? But hey...as one long time GID member (just happens to be a BD guy) praises the Carmel AD for being such a swell human being recently in a post, indicating that may be enough to get Carmel into the MIC. I honestly thought it was a joke at the time of his post, given it would take more for the state's largest school to get re-admitted to a conference they had scorned a year later, than simply having a "likeable" AD. Now I am guessing he had more insight that I realized.
