  1. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FhJ96toUM/ Bob Trumpy, a Pro Bowl tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals and a pioneering voice in sports broadcasting, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. His death marks the loss of a man whose impact on football extended far beyond the playing field. Born March 6, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, Trumpy’s athletic journey began as a standout at the University of Utah, where he played both football and basketball. Drafted by the Bengals in 1968, he quickly became one of quarterback Greg Cook’s favorite targets and earned Pro Bowl honors in 1968 and 1970. Over his 10-year NFL career, Trumpy amassed more than 4,600 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns, helping define the tight end position during the league’s formative years. Trumpy’s legacy grew even stronger after his retirement, when he transitioned into broadcasting—a field he helped shape with his sharp analysis and commanding voice. He spent decades as a color commentator for NBC Sports, covering Super Bowls, Olympic Games, and countless NFL matchups. His work earned him the prestigious Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, recognizing his excellence in sports broadcasting. Known for his wit, candor, and deep understanding of the game, Trumpy was a mentor to younger broadcasters and a trusted voice for generations of fans. Whether calling a dramatic playoff game or offering insight into locker room dynamics, he brought clarity and passion to every broadcast. Condolences to his family and friends and may he Rest in Peace. Sourced using Wikipedia and MSN and an announcement made by the Bengals football page. Special thanks to follower Dottie Ann for her notification of Trumpy's passing, it is appreciated.

  2. My point even if state money, politicians should stay clear and let the people hired to manage their universities and athletic departments. How many governors across the country do you see trying to jump in over university officials to hire coaches? Not in their lane. They certain can and most likely do share their opinions with the Board of Trustees. And it may be influential in some cases. But it should remain behind the scenes. I’d hope Gov of La has bigger fish to fry for his people that fall in line with his actual job description.

  3. I am saying it now, don’t care that Penn State is winless in the Big 10, if you aren’t a bit nervous going into Happy Valley with 100,000 fans, going to be a tough game. IU should win this game going away, but we will see…

  4. Penn owned the DAC for the better part of 3 decades . However the last decade Penn is 24-10 vs the DAC and 7-5 in the last 5 years . A lot of people have written Penn off because CP has taken 2 in a row . As Lee Corso says , "Not so fast my friends" . Even if CP wins this year , I'm not going to sweat it as Mishawaka has beaten Penn 3 in a row before . Penn then went on to beat them 7 in a row . Should be a packed house come this Friday , Go Penn . Would love for my Kingsmen to at least get a shot at Carroll .

  5. SEC fans are delusional. Just heard a fan of A&M say they were the best in the country. If IU and Ohio State played an SEC schedule, they'd both have two losses, lol.

  6. The whole thing is comical to me. The guy leading the state I live in should have bigger fish in the fryer than sports. He ruined that football team in my opinion. No one in their right mind would want that job...........none of the best coaches anyway.

  9. I don't think anyone votes in their governor to hear his or her sports opinion. Like movies, just do your job and act. Don't wanna hear your political opinion.

  10. Ha…oh you know better than that 32. Don’t really want to get into the prediction business- cause this is high school football and these are teenagers after all…BUT- having been the only team that has played both MD and GS (and got our tails kicked by both)- I believe GS is the overall better team. MD’s front and physicality was impressive- but that is also where GS’s strength lies Also- if you’re not familiar with GS’s tempo- it will eventually break you. It’s such a huge advantage… Id say Titans by 17 or more

  11. Shocked they opened up as nearly 2 TD favorites. I told my dad I thought it be around 3-4 points, he bet me it’d be around 7. Lost money before the game even started lol. In all honesty, this is going to be a tough game. Penn State is still a very talented group and has nothing to lose. Forecast shows cold and rainy, going to be a rock fight and I’m sure that’s the way PSU prefers it.

  12. Disagree. That is why universities have Boards. He can certainly call the president of the Board and voice his/her concern and probably carries weight. But they don’t have a direct role in hiring and firing university staffs, nor should they be commenting on social media that university staffs have no role in hiring their own coaches.

  13. Eh, just strikes me as “yeah, you beat us, but our uniforms and cheerleaders were prettier.”

  14. Purdue played hard, Michigan just isn’t very good. Underwood had one of the worst performances from a QB you’ll see. Glad he’s making $10+ million, don’t see Michigan’s staff developing him the next 2-3 years.

  15. When you need to win 3, possibly 4 games in a row to be named national champions? Yes. IU’s top 22 guys are as good as anybody in the country. But IU simply does not have the luxury (yet) of depth that some of these other national title contenders. Fisher essentially missing these last two games and Sarratt leaving early yesterday with a hamstring injury is concerning. Get past Penn State next week and you have almost a month to get healthy before the B10 championship game.

  16. I never understood the fascination I didn't see the game but I understand what 23 was trying to say It is possible to beat the hell out of a team and still lose Not me agreeing like I said never watched the game. But its not unheard of. As for rushing yards vs passing yards, one team runs it the other throws it, happens.

  17. Coach, I didn’t see much of this game other than some highlights, but Boilers must have battled. Seeing some promise??? Final score got my attention, especially on the road in The Big House.

  18. I’m not even sure Governors should fire university presidents. That’s the role of the Board of Trustees. Sure they can have an opinion which certainly counts, but best kept behind closed doors. As you stated, governors should stay in their lane.

  19. I'm not sure why that bothered you and Bash so much. Center Grove still won the game. I opened the season with Snider and Warsaw. Even if Snider won that game, my observation was still that Warsaw was the harder hitting team that night. Certain hits make that popping sound and just stick with you. Warsaw had a few of them. When you're at a game in person, certain things resonate that you don't get on TV. No qualms with Center Grove being the better team that night. Though not by much. You guys look at the final score and think, okay, CG fairly handled them. At the game, you get a different take. Like CG being stuck in there own territory the entire 3rd quarter, then one big play changes the game. Going up 28-17 was the game changer after Carroll had a couple of opportunities to take the lead. Not really sure why we're still discussing this game. You speak a lot of "rent free," but.............

  22. I agree completely. It’s a common theme this weekend in Louisiana and the sports world in general. Politicians need to stay out of things like this. I believe micromanaging is the term.
