  1. Notre Dame plays Navy every year as a tradition and a thank you for the U.S. Navy's crucial support during World War II, when the Navy used Notre Dame's campus as a training facility, providing vital income that kept the university financially afloat during a period of low enrollment. This established a debt of honor, creating a unique rivalry built on mutual respect, with Notre Dame committing to keep Navy on its football schedule indefinitely as repayment, making it the longest-played intersectional rivalry in college football.

  2. The problem is some people believe that the need to marginally increase their playoff chances by upgrading the schedule in that way trumps honor and loyalty. Thankfully, Notre Dame has never taken that position. If that makes them naive, so be it.

  3. Proving your point, while not deleting or hiding the comment? Yeah, that makes sense. I am not warning you again. Another idiotic accusation and you will be taking a vacation from here.

  4. It’s because USC finds it no longer convenient, now that they are playing in a big boy league where they have to show up every week. Can’t say that I blame them.

  5. Stop dude. Ridiculous that the Irish plays Navy every year yet wants to be considered for the playoffs. They dump USC, about the last legit team they play, to pick up BYU. Sheer brilliance.

  6. I’d say it slightly differently. “The teams that Notre Dame needs on their schedule no longer need Notre Dame on their schedule.”

  7. A pretty terrible look for USC , they were talking about ending it last year . I guess they are tired of taking an L .

  10. He is not treated any different than what anyone else is on here. I know you won't agree with that, but I really do not care. There is plenty that goes on that you don't see as far as posts being deleted. Plenty of things have been let go as well from a number of posters here. No one owes you or anyone else an explanation any further than this. The only suggestion I will make, is be careful with lame and false accusations.

  12. If you don't understand by now why ND plays the Navy and why they always will, then you are too far gone for help.

  13. This should mean that the greatest athlete the WRC has ever seen is a shoe in at NV. That might leave FC in quite predicament.

  15. Anyone home McFly? Scheduling them in 2026/2027 is self serving. Not playing them in a bowl game is telling everyone wanting to make money off the Notre Dame brand to go screw yourselves.

  16. USC didn't like the date for next year and the 2 couldn't come to an agreement on a 'new' date. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/sources-notre-dame-usc-rivalry-series-ending-next-year-as-irish-finalize-2-year-deal-with-byu-165245493.html

  18. Fair enough. No more lectures. The troll comment is rich coming from the self proclaimed GID thread monitor and contribution shamer. Just hope it penetrates that the end of the day you can attempt to officiate all you want…no one cares.

  20. He wasn't hating on ND...he was responding to comments made by others about a different team being in the post season. Even if he was hating on ND, its his perogative. Block him if you don't like it...but telling everyone to get off your lawn all the time gets old. People divert all the time on threads....perhaps take the same energy of attempting to be the GID sheriff and get people back on topic with something positive...it might work better. Regardless, people are going to do what they wish regardless of how much you may not like it.

  21. Last game meaning conference championship vs. Georgia, correct?

  22. Stunk in their first game, stunk in their last game. Like I said, inconsistent football team.

  23. Didn’t Alabama have a stretch mid year where they went 4, 5-0 against quality, ranked opponents? At home and on the road.

  24. Crucify me, but I think the SEC is overvalued again this year. I think it's telling that Alabama went down 17-0. Indicative of their entire season. Inconsistent. That may catch up with them against a well coached team like Indiana. I just don't see the Tide as a team that can put together enough good games in a row against quality opponents to win the whole thing.

  25. When you're 13-0 and have beaten Ohio State on a neutral field, the rest of the schedule becomes a moot point. I can get on board with that.
