Bedford/Lawrence County has pretty much been stagnant from a population standpoint. The local economy had been dependent a lot on the automotive industry and the limestone industry and there have been cutbacks in employment in those areas. They used to have a Ford plant there that has been shut down, while GM still has a presence there. So, as far as employment goes, there is not a lot there to attract new residents. There are quite a few residents in Lawrence County that work in Bloomington/Monroe County and are employed at the several medical facilities that are there, as well as IU. Some residents are also employed at the Crane Naval facility which is not far away. Like with a lot of areas, people are waiting to have children at a much older age, and families are just not quite as big as they used to be, and that reflects on the school populations. That's my two cents on it which may be off-based, and maybe someone with more knowledge of the situation can give a better explanation for it.

I think it is about bringing Jones back...he and Pierce are extremely close and Pierce had commented he wouldn't resign without knowing a quality QB was locked down. I think unloading Pittman and others is about having the funds to pay Jones. Now will they pay Jones the $50M/year he is seeking? I don't think so, but it will be $40M/yr plus. Crazy money for a 1/2 season of good play.....but as Coach says....its a QB league.

There are 6A programs who have said no. They don't want to be embarrassed by losing to a "small school." Thankfully, Westfield and Center Grove have not been among them ... each has played a home-and-home with New Pal, which kinda blows holes in the "New Pal doesn't play anybody" theory. (Every non-conference opponent NP has scheduled in the Kyle Ralph era has played on Thanksgiving weekend in the last decade).

No, but New Pal streams all of its home games on IHSAAtv.

My main point being, I’m here for education based sports. IMG is not education based sports, it’s something entirely different and I chose not to support their business model. I’m here for the kid who’s going to end up being my insurance agent.
