  1. 2013.. Had flurries. And a LOT of dudes in Carhartt Jackets that somehow found their way into the glassed in building at the South end zone for the 2nd half. 22 players on the field. 5 officials. 4 guys on the chains. Coaches...and maybe 30 players per team as subs, left on the turf surface! No Cheerleaders, no fans, no stragglers. Yeah it was cold as hell!!!
  2. Didn't help that the crew refused to change FB's did it? I had a nice "discussion" with a few of them earlier this year....It didn't go well 🤫
  3. Agreed, I was THERE! Sounded pretty cool playing the featured game on Saturday, until "Mother Nature" changed the entire thang....
  4. I will guarantee you that Snider will play Warren Central, and Homestead will play Carmel.... Week 1 also at LOS. So YES you are correct. Damn those Saturday games....
  5. I had a Semi-State game at Mishawaka Marian (Brebeuf) that was stopped by a torrential lightning and rain storm for 3-4 hours. We ended on Friday night at well past 1AM. Forecast for Saturday was Thunderstorms and Rain ALL DAY, that also happened. Perhaps we should remember that weather is a determining factor in stretching games beyond the Friday nights that are scheduled. Oh and BTW...Brebeuf made it clear they were NOT coming back on Saturday, as well as the Commissioner. We WERE finishing the Friday night scheduled contest, come hell or high water. No pun intended!
  6. NOPE... Week 2 @ Lucas Oil Stadium.... and I KNOW!
  7. Carroll (FW) had the BEST grass field in the local area (Bar None!). I understand the move to field turf...for the added functionality of a variety of educational as well as sports endeavors. I am not gonna say that I am opposed to grass all the time, but sometimes it's kinda "Brave" to have to do game at certain places....😃 Long, weird lines, and I swear to god...holes that just pop up out of nowhere.
  8. Looks like even the BEST can't count sometimes: The Buffalo Bills had 12 men on the field when they made a critical defensive play in overtime in their wild game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The play occurred with 5 minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the overtime period, just after the Vikings had completed a 24-yard pass to receiver Justin Jefferson to set up a first-and-goal at the Bills' 2-yard line. On the next play, Vikings tailback Dalvin Cook was tackled for a 3-yard loss. Minnesota coach Kevin O'Connell said afterward that "I do believe there was 12 players on the field" on that play but said he wanted to confirm that via tape. An ESPN review of the game video clearly shows 12 defensive players. Had it been flagged, the Vikings would have had first down at the 1-yard line instead of second-and-goal at the 5. EDITOR'S PICKS Barnwell: Making sense of the NFL's game of the season, from Jefferson's amazing catch to Buffalo's head-scratching flaw 7hBill Barnwell 'Look at us now': Vikes rally again, stun Bills in OT 19h Allen says injury a nonissue as late TOs cost Bills 19hAlaina Getzenberg Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins took a sack on second down and threw an incompletion on third down, leading to a field goal that allowed the Bills to have a possession. "I know it's moving pretty fast out there sometimes," O'Connell said. Earlier, the NFL's on-site replay booth failed to initiate a review on what was ruled a completed 20-yard catch by Bills receiver Gabe Davis with 17 seconds remaining in regulation. Walt Anderson, NFL senior vice president of officiating, later told a pool reporter that the play should have been reviewed and that it would have been reversed to incomplete if it had been. That completion put the Bills in position to tie the game and send it into overtime.
  9. Perhaps "next year" when the SAC becomes an open conference Sagarin may give a better picture.... But @temptationis ON POINT with the SAC as it exists now: (a) Closed Conference!
  10. When the offense can't score....Special Teams. 21-7 Cavemen
  11. I think Coach O'Shea is a class act. I agree he needs a break to be with family....refocus, and then look at what the future could bring! Best of luck to him, and what could be as time passes.
  12. Wonderful story and a hopefully he can be reunited with his family soon. Good luck to the Tigers @ Luers. .it's gonna take a team effort. But that's why they play the game!
  13. Good job on the part of the crew (FW Area crew that has done multiple State Finals...though not in the current configuration). Remember, we've been advised that IF the QB takes 3 steps to either side....He should be considered 'outside' of the FBZ. Clearly in this case, the QB did take 3 steps to his right. After the muff/fumble. He then gathered himself and then tossed the ball OOB. Clearly the explanation to Coach Curtis of Warsaw was met with approval by him (CLASS ACT in every way!!!). And they moved on, the crowd notwithstanding. No need to expound on Coach St. Louis of Elkhart. He was happy with the adjudication of a non-foul.
  14. I am still going with the Morgan Bros. having a rasslin match to NEVER have a Wells Co. site hosting another Wells Co. school at their place as a neutral site! My money is on the younger Brother. He has that "kiddo strength and a purpose" IMO...Also has a dude (me) with a folding chair ....just in case! Just go to Huntington North and avoid all of this! OR wait a year and go to (FW) Wayne or (FW) South Side.
  15. They are not posted for public view. I do have access to SAC schedules (Weeks 1 and 2) would vary due to contractual agreements.
  16. Bally Sports and the IHSAA are all about MORE commercial (money) heading their way. So the length of a State Finals game is in significant to them at this point.
  17. I grew up in Missouri where the ENTIRE state playoff system is played at neutral sites. It seems to work well there. But as we well know, Indiana does it their way...regardless of what others do. IN is well past the time to move on to a different outlook (beyond the Regional level for logistics/travel/monies/officials and the like) IMO. Start assigning both Regional and Semi-State locales to begin to get schools to think about LOS as a 'neutral' site, rather than allowing a "host (neutral 😃) site" host Regionals and Semi-State games. The caveat to all of this, is understanding that the "all-in system" will be employed up and until the Sectional Finals....then it's Neutral Sites from there on out. This allows IN to keep a modicum of the all-in...but then gravitate to what should be a fair playing field for both schools participating in IN HS football beyond (the) Sectional Finals.
  18. BC, for a "non-local"...trust me you are ON POINT with your predictions! Now 'next week'....that's where it gets tricky!
  19. Are your ready to PAY for a "replay official" that's on-site (and rules intelligent enough to convey the correct administrations?).... If that is the case for the brevity of the IHSAA...I am retiring tomorrow and becoming a replay official.
  20. Unfortunately, at THIS time (next few seasons)... none of these matchups are possible due to contractual agreements. Norwell/Wayne seems the only plausible contest that 'could' happen based upon the 2 open weeks that exist in the ensuing years. Columbia City/Luers would be a good contest for CC to be prepared for the NE8 (IMO).
  21. How about we drop this entire thing at this point. I really don't need to expound on how others may/may not interpret things like others....especially if the " basis" of the discussion isn't necessarily 'kosher' to start with...
  22. I spoke to someone in Decatur specifically about turf at Worthman Stadium. They said that the donator of the land that Bellmont HS sits on (Bob Worthman) was big time into conservation and land management. Because of that, it is entirely possible that Bellmont will never get a turf field for FB. It sounded plausible to me.
