  1. Could be. But that doesn't mean that FW hasn't made strides in their ability to be a force within their respective Classes. The top of the SAC is a force. Then there is Luers in 2A. I have faith that ALL will be fine (though not a State Finalist) in 2022
  2. This Thursday night Denver/Indy game SUCKS! I feel like I am being subjected to "Cruel and Unusual Punishment"!
  3. In my case @crimsonace1.. I stupidly didn't read the BASIS of the question: OT Rules. I feel totally silly with responding. And yes you are correct, the ONE POINT safety is a possibility. UGH! And so is an unbelievable fumble into the offensive end zone resulting in a defensive possession for a TD. DOUBLE UGH!
  4. Wow, I wish the crew had this contest. But no matter what, we will still officiate that which have, with the same gusto!
  5. Snider v Dwenger... easily the GOTW in the SAC
  6. Sorry @Bobrefand @EasyEJayf. I didn't realize/read that this was an OT situation. DUH! Absolutely correct with the killing of the play. DOne once the defense possesses the ball.
  7. Inadvertent whistle. Yes they can return out of the EZ
  8. There weren't 'options' for types of fields that could be used. Hell, back in the day, you had to hand crank the engine to start it...."Those were the good old days! Who needs this darned electric start thingamajig?"
  9. There is a MAJOR difference in the financial layout that can be expensed for grass upkeep at these levels.... HS being most likely to be a total mess and unplayable at some points during a season.
  10. Field Turf err day of the week, and Sunday too. Grass sux now that I have seen the FUTURE! I have come to abhor grass fields for multiple reasons...weather being the least of it.
  11. Up more than 2 scores. And, IMO the fumble scenario is/was not an option. The 1st string came back in to take the snap and kneel down. And yes the objective was going after the QB (aka: Football). As I said before, players/coaches were LEAVING in this scenario. There was no need for anything other that the game to be conceded to the other school in this situation.
  12. So strangely enough with this being "Rivalry Week"; does 2022 make the Wayne @ Concordia contest the GOTW?
  13. Under center. Yes there were with the 2nd string QB. This was the 1st team Offense who was running out the clock (1st down after the turnover on downs 50 seconds left). A bad snap was their offer when they had the ONE timeout left, and took it. They fired out on 1st down. Now there was NO way to stop the clock for the defense, and with 3 guys (QB/RB/FB) basically standing in a triad behind the center....it's almost impossible to recover a fumble under those circumstances. And I am completely aware of the manual and what it says. But trust me the manual has NEVER addressed Coach "Jr. Lombardi" on the sidelines of a MS game as the 'voice of reason' that you need to communicate with and make them understand the ramifications of their actions.
  14. Quick deflection question: How in the world did the 2010 SB Washington v. SB Riley game end in a 34-34 Tie?
  15. I had a lower level game earlier this evening. Turnover on downs (20 yard line in) 50 seconds left... The defense had one TO left and the offense said "victory formation". My wing and I overheard the defensive Coaches say they were going to 'fire out'. Ok, we then advised the offense to protect themselves as the defense likely is going to 'fire out' then call their last TO. At this point (following the play and the TO) we again hear the defensive coaches say that they are 'firing out' at the offense. IMO, this is when enough is enough! All that I could see and imagine, was hard-feelings/a potential fight/ bad-blood between schools. Totally left a bad taste in my mind because of the strategy on behalf of the defensive team/coaches. Our remedy to the situation, was to position (U-R) within the expanded neutral zone, and alert the defense that are NOT going to fire-out. If either of us is moved or touched, guys are getting tossed! I realize that this may be beyond our purview, but it is something that has to STOP! This is the time and place to TEACH, not become a "Jr. Greg Schiano". The game is OVER! Just accept the outcome.... What would you do?
  16. Southridge scored MORE points...But Woodlan's coach (AGAIN) lost a State Championship for his squad, IMO!
  17. I'd like to offer a rebuttal to the bolded response..... But I think you are absolutely on point! And sadly, I really don't see any FW team doing anything in 4A this post-season. "Thanks for your participation FW"
  18. May be a GREAT time to enforce that contract that WE (officials) agree to when we accept a contest. Pay back the school(s) for a 'no show'...x3
  19. Snider shares a stadium with Northrop (at Northrop HS). Spuller Stadium I don't know anything about the other schools.
  20. Churubusco...it's a TRADITION like none other! Diesel smoke to welcome the Eagles onto the field! 😃
  21. FW North Side and FW South SIde (4A) WILL have turf in the next few years! That has been promised by the FWCS leadership, and I believe it will happen. They are just going year to year with upgrades to the fields. FW South SIde is slated to be up next.
  22. Put the KIBOSH on ya last year @Irishmanuntil I got a ruling from the IHSAA, Week 1 last year. Looks like seizures for everyone from here on out with the flashing lights....gotta love HS FB Friday nights in Indiana! Now please STOP the Powder Bombs! There are fans with respiratory issues who are in attendance.
