The TESTOSTERONE of specific players was an issue! Trust me, we don't like "face time" But a FANTASTIC HS Football game on both sides. Congratulations to the NLC, I was impressed by the fans, players, and the atmosphere of the Sectional Championship Game. Truly what IHSAA FB is all about.

The NW @ NR game is absolutely outstanding! Those that believe Coach Andrews isn't the answer...PULEEZE! He an absolutely great Coach and mentor for that program! Coach Eppley @ NR is the same for that program! This one has CLASSIC written ALL over it.....

The thing that upsets me the most (not gonna get a lot of traction on a forum like this, though). Is that many don't see themselves as TEACHERS 1st. They see themselves as 'hype men' within a program, 1st and foremost. There are numerous programs that we as officials can readily see are there to 'win'...but they also can quickly turn off the testosterone and get back to coaching/teaching. It's a mutual respect thing. I am positive that a particular coach who's kinda "Caveman like" wants to win every time he steps on the gridiron. But I also know that when the rubber hits the road, he (and his staff) have the understanding that what they do and react to, will directly impact the young men and women within their program. This is true of the overwhelming majority of HS coaches that I have encountered. But when I deal with those that see a 'game' as more than that of a 'game'. It truly concerns me as to what is going on within that program. The focus is skewed to something else. Parents/Boosters/Players/Fans all then become the mob which we as officials then have to deal with. And you wonder why we can't recruit new officials? As much as we like to be fans of the players on a Friday night. Remember MOST of these players will be finished with athletics when the last whistle blows in a loss during the playoffs. You can count on 1 hand the number of players that have made it to the NFL in a significant manner within a 5 year period from this state. When its all said and done, what do you want YOUR program remembered for? Success, of course. But sometimes that success comes in the form being able to reach young people and change their lives in a positive way. Victories not withstanding!

If the ball was kicked OOB on a particular side BEFORE it reached the goal line. You DO NOT have the option of choosing a hash. The ball should be placed on the hash that the ball went OOB. If there is a penalty administration, that is marked off. And the ball is STILL placed on the side the ball was kicked OOB.

Yes it does. This is education/based athletics. You do the "crime" You do the "time".... but other sports are played at a faster pace, so the penalty is less severe!

I almost see a parallel with East Noble/New Haven game from a few weeks ago, coming on Friday night.

Exactly what I had last night!

Ala: Snider/Northrop sharing the same stadium, with regards to FB. In other sports, much more of a 'true' rivalry. That Penn matchup just reeks of a GREAT HS Football game coming up this week! Northern Indiana FB, cooler weather, coaches wearing shorts for no reason at all.

I had a KO (not grounded) by K, caught in the air by K, tonight which was adjudicated as Kick Catch Interference without an R player within the perview of anything... After stepping off an additional 15 yards for the penalty....As it should be interpreted.as a "fair catch" by R... then penalized. I almost felt like I needed security to even give the proper signal. Ugh...

ESL is its OWN system... get with the program!

Perhaps learn something prior to a comparison with a totally independent School district than that which is a part of a much larger one, to try and make your point.
