  1. Wow. Coach Sattuck IMO is a great coach, who brought to our crew, an understanding that each play is an individual thing. By saying that, I mean that he was able to immediately construct what happened, and move on to the next. An absolute pleasure to work with at Elkhart Central and Elkhart HS. I don't know his future plans, but I hope to see him again within Indiana HS Football. He is a wonderful young man and educator!
  2. Let me say this. I was just responding to the topic as it persists for various reasons with officials that I have spoken with. Having said that. I officiate because I LOVE officiating. Is $ a factor? Yes, but not THE factor with me or in terms of our crew as it pertains to FB. I have no issue with the pre-game mandated activities. We look at Friday night FB as a great time to get together and the comradery is 2nd to none. As an aside, we also do 2 lower level FB games during the week....AS A CREW! That keeps us on our toes come Friday nights. There are a myriad of officiating related methods that are factors with some doing Collegiate games, that on the HS level will never be in place. An obvious example is the ratings/ranking/evaluation system being in the hands of an evaluator almost exclusively at the collegiate levels. Because HS sports is an education based extracurricular activity, I can never see the "customer" not having the major ability for input in the officiating process/system. Just my .02
  3. I have heard from numerous officials in FB that the mandates about: "pregame" time, travel to and from game sites, uniforms, mandated meetings (without renumeration), and inability to advance (this being a minor argument, mostly). I think $ is a major factor. I take a MAJOR pay cut every year when the playoffs start. The travel pay (to and from) hasn't changed in at least 15-20+ years. Plus the difference in pay scale across the State is unbelievable. Within the area that I have as my home base. We have negotiated a pay scale that is perhaps the best in the State. So when I hear about the pay scales outside of the area, I am astounded at the rates. This has been a consideration with the acceptance of contests in some regards.
  4. To an individual that seems to have an opinion on EVERYTHING all the TIME.... What does a criminal justice situation that is within the purview of the NFLPA have to do with the construct of minority hiring on the level of ownership and the Commissioner's office? Guess I had better ask Irsay or Kraft what the ramifications of their transgressions were to the Commissioner.... Seems like nada, in the big picture of things. But as for another big time poster, a peaceful protest against police brutality is somehow, Un-American. Question: Who is an American?
  5. All I am saying with this topic, is simple.... People need to have an EQUAL opportunity to advance beyond that of the playing field once they become or aspire to higher more impactful jobs within the system that exists. I cannot see any argument that can support the system that exists as it does now. The "network" of NOT hiring those that "resemble" the likes that are like the ownership in place is plainly obvious. Even Stevie Wonder could see that..... There is always an excuse for NOT hiring those that fall OUTSIDE of the traditional method of elevation...ie. Offensive/Defensive Coordinators of color... But then they are skipped over when an HC is hired who has NO history of either (ex. Joe Judge). The NFL in all its' recent iterations, has gone from "the flag" and a def-facto Americanism by black-balling Colin Kaepernick, to embracing an anti-racist attitude (ie. painting slogans on the field/having slogan on the helmets) only to be called out in their TRUE hiring practices and inability to foment a an "American hope" of promoting individuals by the content of their character rather than their color of their skin. That is NOT fair, nor will it be ever accepted in these days! What would be the argument if the NHL hired a % of minorities that FAR exceed the number of minorities within their league...say 75% of Head Coaches? I dare say, that there would be an outcry that would wonder, Why? What is the difference in the NFL.....Tradition? Or just plain and simple, Comfortability with things as they are? Those not like us, are not within the purview of being seen as having the ability to be on the level to lead a franchise to winning. And should some also reach those abilities, they are dispensable for numerous reasons. Tony Dungy(fired and replaced by Gruden), Lovie Smith (Bears 2012 10-6... now a retread and a Rooney Rule excuse), Romeo Crenel (always a RETREAD, Rooney Rule excuse), David Culley (Hired to be fired), Art Shell, Jim Caldwell (Rooney Rule excuse), Tom Flores, Ray Rhodes (one and done), Brian Flores..... Of course more than this small listing. Numerous Coordinators that NEVER have been given an opportunity..... Many more than the Minority coaches that were hired (or Rooney Rule check-boxed) .
  6. Look for something BIG perhaps in Week 1 of 2023 via the SAC..... Just my .02
  7. So YOU now admit that YOU are in the NFL Coaching Room? If you know, then you KNOW...But I am positive that you DON'T KNOW.
  8. **In my opinion: These are "youthful indiscretions" The major issues happened BEFORE he was 25 years old. When does the life-time ban stop? Why should/would he? There's no need to speak out until the legal situation that Brian Flores has started, is adjudicated? Coach Bieniemy is the most obvious individual not having a HC position as of now... I am sure that there are MANY who were just used to 'check off a box" for the Rooney Rule. Hence the LAWSUIT! **Legal issues As a player at Colorado, Bieniemy was arrested along with a teammate following a February 1988 bar fight.[12] He pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and fighting in public, and was sentenced to community service.[12] He also received discipline from head coach Bill McCartney.[12] In 1989, Bieniemy was ticketed in Westminster, Colorado for driving a defective vehicle, and in Aurora, Colorado for speeding. In October 1990, Bieniemy's license was suspended for a year after another traffic violation. On March 21, 1991, Bieniemy was caught speeding and driving with suspended license on I-70 near Rifle, Colorado, going 92 mph in a 65 mph zone. On April 17, 1991, Bieniemy failed to appear in court on charges relating to the March 21 incident. A bench warrant was issued in Colorado for his arrest on April 23, 1991, two days after he was drafted in the 1991 NFL Draft.[13] On July 4, 1990, Bieniemy pleaded no contest to interfering with a firefighter who had been performing his duties to extinguish a fire in Bieniemy's mother's garage.[13] Bieniemy received an eight-month suspended sentence[14] and was suspended for one game.[15] Bieniemy was instructed to do 40 hours of community service and attend an eight-hour firefighting training session.[13] An assistant city attorney said Bieniemy failed to attend the firefighting training session as stipulated in the plea agreement, but Bieniemy asserted the session was optional.[13] On September 27, 1993, Bieniemy was arrested in Boulder, Colorado, for allegedly harassing a female parking attendant. According to the police report, while with his friends, Bieniemy put his hand on the attendant's neck, startling her. She told police ,"[14] that Bieniemy and his friends took off their pants and began urinating nearby. Bieniemy was also named in an outstanding warrant on a charge of driving with a suspended license. As a result of this incident, Bieniemy was banned from the University of Colorado Boulder campus for one year.[7][16] In April 2001, Bieniemy was arrested for driving under the influence and was docked a month's pay.[
  9. No problem, asked an answered...TROLL Ask Tony Dungy about his travails! 7% is my answer. FACTS!!!
  10. It is in the "plan".... But let's see when it comes to fruition. (As well as South Side) Wayne was to have it this year. Based upon a discussion I had TODAY, it won't come until the 2023 season for Wayne.
  11. You are a trolling IDIOT! I am absolutely sorry that you feel anyone actually cares about your opinion on anything. It has NOTHING to do with the "hue" (no pun intended towards Mr. Jackson)...It has EVERYTHING to do with what's right/just and a move forward in pushing the league forward as well as being fair and honest. Why would anyone who is not of a certain demographic ever believe that they have any chance (7%) to further their dream(s) beyond that of a "coach on a staff". And THAT is relatively NEW to the equation. You have no idea of how that (marginalized) feels being on the other side of the fence! Curt Flood sacrificed his life, career, and health for the belief that the reserve clause was tantamount to slavery on behalf of the MLB owners. Yet not only is he NOT in the Hall of Fame, but those who used him as the stepping stone are: Marvin Miller. And also the Free Agent clause is absolutely synonymous to Andy Messersmith and Dave McNally....not Curt Flood. Spare me with the racial innuendoes! It is much more than that with what is happening in the NFL. Oh 2 more rap sheets recently: Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Favre.... neither ran a 4.3 40 yard dash.....TROLL!!!
  12. Understood. Again, not picking on you...just responding to the topic. But I don't see with the financial impact that would happen with FWCS, that they would welcome the added budgetary concerns to a school system that is located in what could be termed "a Red Area"...taxes would go up, based purely on sports beyond FB and Basketball. Yes teams DO travel long distances in other conferences. But NEVER in the SAC for conference games. The NE8 should welcome Angola into the fold, IMO. But when you think about travel from Angola to Huntington North, Bellmont, Norwell (I-69 makes it a bit better).... those are some hauls. Jay County is the outlier in the ACAC. But we can agree that the ACAC is a good fit for them. Though if you looked a 'size', they are an NE8 school....again travel comes into the equation. Garrett had that issue to an extent, then went back to the NECC.
  13. I honestly DON'T care what YOU think.... Just responding because I opened up your post. Nice work there; Peter Griffin Obtuse Here's your $ .25 for the correct usage of that term.... And NO it's not! It's a band aid on a larger problem. Apparently that "baggage" is good enough for him to be an OC, but not good enough to allow him an opportunity to be an HC. Black people and minorities have heard that old song all the time.... Guess it's ok for some to have "juvenile indiscretions" well through their 20's. But others aren't afforded the same after they reach puberty (or 10 years old)....It's a life-time sentence and stigma.
  14. I am fascinated by this long-held belief that Warsaw should join the SAC. This is not directed at psaboy, but this was the last reference to this situation. I cannot see why any program would join a Conference that would be separated by another county, and 40+ miles from the nearest conference foe. It would be a nightmare for the logistics of sports beyond Varsity Basketball and Football. Other than the "size" of Warsaw HS. I don't see the attraction for them to look eastward at the SAC as a member of the conference. Unless and until, there's an alliance that strictly is Football specific, there will not be any reason Warsaw, or any other school to look at changing their affiliation(s). I would love to see an 1-69 Conference (from the Indy Donut to FW) or a Northern Indiana Conference; Perhaps encompassing some Region schools, FW and all environs in between for FB only Friday nights.
  15. RE-TREAD! Why isn't Eric Bienemy a Head Coach? Oh lawdy, lawdy.... There are 2 African-American Head Coaches in the NFL now. 🤨 And a guy who says he's "multi-racial" in Miami. I say, welcome to the club; Almost EVERYBODY in the Americas is "multi-racial" if they dig deep enough. Nice try, Stephen Ross.
  16. Proves that in THIS situation YOU have no idea of what you are talking about, when you are demeaning a program for being an instigator..... I WAS THERE!!! I also reached out to the ENTIRE SPORTS program to re-ingratiate them to the IHSAA!
  17. I agree. But I the NBA has "issues".... I can agree with that. Players (limited rosters...not 53) can be impacted by ONE move, NFL rosters need a bit more to make that kind of impact. Also, I am not so sure that the NBA is heading down the right road with the 'star' power that they tend to perpetrate. NFLPA represents the players.... And they should just stay on the sidelines. For now NOT MANY!! And I totally agree with that. In 2022, this ain't Halas' NFL.
  18. I think Leftwich asking for MORE inclusion and power in his staff selections and the direction of the franchise, made him a less than desirable HC for Khan. It says more about Jacksonville as a franchise (business) than it does about the individual that the 'settled' upon in Pederson. Even Parcells said "He should be able to buy the groceries, if he going to be the cook"..... I think that is an admirable position to have as an NFL HC.
  19. Let's not get down a "Rabbit Hole" of the quota system. The basic argument is the FAIRNESS of the Rooney Rule. Also, the $100K that is alleged by Flores to lose games by the Dolphins' owner (via the GM...a minority also)
  20. I think the NFLPA will sit by and "Eat Popcorn" while this goes on. Goodell is an employ of the OWNERS. And this has all their interests at heart (later date), but beyond their ability to impactfully have any solutions at this time.
  21. Ok. What/When was Delta an instigator? Please fill us in. Hopefully you aren't back to THIS!!!
  22. This situation cannot, nor should be confined to just the lawsuit filed by Brian Flores. There are NUMEROUS individuals who have been "bushwacked" by the pretense of an actual interview/opportunity that was brought by the "Rooney Rule". As for Hue Jackson, he seems to be in compliance and the embodiment of TANKING for draft picks, supplemented by $$ to lose. He says that "Why would you give a contract extension to HC that was 1-31 over 2 years if it wasn't clear that you wanted to lose and did NOTHING to improve the quality of the team?"... The owners within the league are the problem. Yet, again their employ (Goodell) is the front-man who has to answer for all of this. As usual, the NFL will dodge/pivot and ultimately not answer for anything. It's quite clear that they blackballed Kaepernick out of the league, and got away with it. But with 70% of the league consisting of AA players, this is not a situation that they cannot address. It would be a great opportunity for those players to boycott a week, and see what the effects would be. A number of these men have looked at their futures beyond the playing field, and see no opportunity for advancement. The time came years ago for the NFL to diversify. Yet in 2022, the same ole, same ole continues and is the norm.
  23. Its' a DAMNED shame that in a league 70% (+/-) African-American. in 2022 there is only ONE Head Coach that reflects any ability for those who would even choose to think about their future within the NFL beyond that of an "assistant" continue to use the guise of the Rooney Rule to circumvent and continue the old-boys network as a way to further their idiotic hiring practices.... Eric Bieniemy should have been hired 3 years ago as a HC in the NFL! The Jaguars "may" hire Byron Leftwich as their HC....again "MAY". That's IT! The NFL has done a better job with their officials (selection/promotion) in giving/providing a diverse representation to the those of us on that end of the spectrum; Than anything the ''OWNERS" have ever done in trying to find and promote those within a minority community to lead their franchises. SAME OLE, SAME OLE.... Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Recycled, and not updated! But with the same 'suit". 🤬
  24. I agree. Perhaps I over-spoke in saying it was a step back. Coach Tippmann is well aware of what's best for the program. And I am totally in step with this competition!
