No comment...But this ain't the NFL..

Bob is MY Mentor. I've learned more from him, and employed things in my FB career that you can never comprehend. I just try to be a conduit until he arrives and gives a better view of situations .... He can ALWAYS give me guidance! I'm not an attorney... Hell I can barely balance my finances... 😁

Thank you. At this point. Though I believe my understanding of THIS sport is great. I am can learn much more from those whom I have "been there-done that". If you could reach out to the administration and have them send the IFOA a video of the play, it would be wonderful. On behalf of ALL Officials... We are NOT PERFECT. These scenarios help us 'learn' and become better on Friday nights (and beyond) .....
-
Could, but with time having expired without a penalty that would 'extend' the period.... It still is a situation that ends the contest. Had there been yardage attached, to the situation (with the picking up of the flag...there was not) . You could not have a situation that would extend the period with an untimed down. May I suggest that YOU forward this to the IFOA for a training video?

Sorry about the "assumption" then... And you know what ASS-U-MING means The flag should have been a sideline warning... But the game should have been ended by the ball settling because of the block behind the LOS. Had Team A advanced the ball (prior to the 'settling' of the ball behind) to the line-to-gain... then we'd have had a conundrum to figure out with Team B being on the field of play. In this case...as you have given more info. The contest is done. B would/could be assessed a sideline warning (at best). But at no time could A then possess the ball because they did not make the Line to Gain with the free kick of the ball. I'm sorry if this doesn't satisfy what you are wanting in the adjudication of the play.....

NLC - 2023 Season

Ya know ME... That's a measurement ON grass! I ain't gonna have the "Original Caveman" all over MY ass on a 4th down and short! -
Yes, it is. The ORIGINAL "force" is the kick itself. TOUCHBACK!
-
So it DID NOT go forward to the 20 yard line as you originally said you never said it went backwards? "Team B blocks field goal. Ball settles around Team B 20 yard line as time expires." Dead Ball, game over. Because you said it settled. I'm trying to figure out how AFTER the time expired, that you could want an 'untimed down'? It is a sideline warning at best.... Not illegal participation.

Sectional #19 is no JOKE! Things have tightened a lot with EN getting that PHISICALITY back in play. And yes, New Haven needs to bulk up next week vs. EN. The "blind draw" in this Sectional will have an impactful effect on what happens.
-
Did Team B ever "touch" the ball past the Line of scrimmage (20 yard line) in this situation? Think of the Leon Lett play. This seems to be an EXCELLENT example of what you are espousing in order to want Team A to again possess the ball.. https://youtu.be/0rNQ4puNN5Q?si=v7xx5_OZUMkFcTJU

If and ONLY "IF" the athletes that are roaming the stands on Friday nights can be lured to the gridiron rather than TRACK/Basketball .... They can be. It's sad to know the talent that is in the stands every week that is not being 'tapped'.

Northrop, didn't do themselves any favors with STUPID penalties and actions. That helped out a lot....trust me

My largest concern is BEYOND the Sectional Finals. I would like to have 7 man crews from that point forward. The IHSAA in every other sport, adds additional officials for the playoffs, yet when it comes to FB. "Crickets " and opposition to the situation. Then why at the Finals, do you implement a 6th official for FG/PAT? Adding 2 officials is a great way to help younger officials stay engaged! I know of at least 6 that I'd jump at the opportunity to employ with my crew. This HAS to be taken up by the IFCA... at this point ....Meridian Street will NEVER budge!

In the past few years I have called this NUMEROUS times. Please understand that Saturday (Collegiate) and Sunday (Professional) Football is NOT what we adjudicate! Tuck in your shirts! (no under shirts exposed...FAT guys on the lines get an exception (😄) ... Cover the knees, NO tinted shields, Play calling sheets on the waists, Sleeves that have excessive "gripping adhesion", No electronic Boards to relay in plays , NO electronics to communicate with on field players....(Uniform Police). Get with the program officials. Just stop it BEFORE it happens! Because if they see this crew, we WILL end it! In PRE-GAME.....

The Gridiron Digest

I will ALWAYS provide the needed funding to keep Tim's dream alive and growing! I may not always be the one in agreement with the "crowd", but I will ALWAYS support the GID however, or with whatever I can....going on 15+ years! -
Cathedral at Frederick Douglas (Lexington, KY)
Yuccaguy replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would reach out to the guys that traditionally play in MI, IL, OH and KY, and see if they use a 40 second clock. Other than that, we ALL use the same NFHS rules. -
I am not about to say anything about R. Nelson Snider and how they approach their schemes.... But as an official, I've had numerous games where I just have sat back and wondered "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?". I had a Semi-State a couple of years ago, where the ENTIRE 1st half was all about the 'QB" trying to run and do his thing. The game was 'strangely' not out of hand as we began the 2nd half. Apparently someone got into the HC's ear and said PASS THE BALL! At that point they just ate up the defense. But the clock was ticking away as the other squad ran/ran/ran when they got possession. Ya know sometimes would like to just yell over to the sideline and TELL them what they should be doing. But I'm not a "fan".
-
Agreed. Which is why this one is a conundrum. The tasing is unwarranted, no question about that. Just wrap him up.and escort him out. Also, at the point of a confrontation... the BD should, as an educated man. Been aware of the nature of his inaction and just stopped the band. At that point he could have later sought a change in policies. At this point. The change will be simple! Game over...everything is over.
-
They had the lights turned off.... He kept conducting (smugly). They didn't need to taste him... Just wrap him up, and remove him from the premises. Would have saved the taxpayers the money that is sure to come from the impending lawsuit, and alleged violation of his rights. There was in place a NO 5th quarter situation with the bands playing. He was well aware of this, as well as the home school's BD.
-
Overall, BOTH the Band Director and the Cops were in the wrong! BD should have ended the music (as the home team did). It was told to the schools that a 5th quarter of playing was prohibited by the school ...and I assume conference. Then let's factor in the 'safety' concerns of having children there AFTER the crowd has exited the stadium. Not a good idea in any way/shape/fashion or form. Far too many 'outsiders'....I am hesitant to say perhaps Adults. Get caught up in the rapture of the festivities, and cannot make a delineation in the atmoshpere of what is supposed to be an educationally activity.... HS Sports! Band rivalries are the same as on field play, and they cannot see the differences. So to this situation, I say. Shame on EVERYONE! I can't and won't support the BD. AND I damned sure won't support the Cops' in their actions to remove the BD. Just wrap his ass up and relocate him; Don't tase him. Time to move on.

SARCASTICLY SAYING: Pay us NORTHERN officials 'double' your pay rates.... We'll be happy to come down there on a Saturday and "smoothy" officiate a game! 😀
