  1. NOT this guy! No disrespect to the Generals and Coach Haydock. But the Knight's Week One performance ran into a juggernaut and they didn't have 6A numbers to compete with the Chargers for 48 minutes. As for the Generals.... DO NOT count them out when the 4A Sectional starts! They are formidable and WILL be a force!

  3. I am gonna go on record as saying that 5A sectional #12 will be a a MEAT GRINDER! I know that locally we have deemed certain teams as the 'favorite'... But if the first 2 weeks have shown anything to anyone.... There IS parity a the top of the SAC. Until I am shown anything different....Carroll is the REAL deal this season in local 6A FB! Plus with them not having to deal with the local "rivalries" until the Regional/Semi-State level....I could see them on a trajectory to LOS from the North if all things work out as the season moves forward. FB in the Fort is nice this season....so you should get out and enjoy it. We have stepped up our game. Of course to meet those outside of the FW area (Indy metro and Da Region)....we may need more. But players and coaches have done what we look for.... IMPROVE!
  4. Here's mine: "All you LOOSERS". I mean really, did you learn nothing in English class? It is LOSER!
  5. Welp...Got 3 of the 4 right. and over all 4 of 5.
  6. Gentlemen. I will say this. In my years of officiating. I have NEVER had a suspension due to "on-field" incidents EVER reversed by the IHSAA. If someone knows of this ever happening, please let me know. And I am NOT talking about any incidents that a COURT system issued an injunction for...i.e. Griffith basketball. (Not involved with that at all) If you are of the belief that the student-athlete will be on the field this Friday...I think you may be sadly mistaken.
  7. Has this turned into a "Penn Kingsmen thread" and no one noticed? Let's see how this year's 6A Sectional plays out, then remainder of 6A North before we count out anyone. I am actually prepped for a Northern surprise this year.....
  8. I am hesitant to offer an opinion.... but IMO. the 1st 4 games will be flip flopped in the outcome.
  9. Like, I said at the start @temptation.... the caveat is "FW Area" FB and that which is always said in this area.... "We DID this, We DID that..." It seems to not be in the present, lately. Do that NOW! @BTF"I'm not ready to anoint them as a Top 10 team after beating up on a 2a team devastated by graduation and transfers, but I'm not saying you're wrong either. Friday night will answer some questions." I'll take that, but with the lack of 6A teams...I am positive that they (CHS) are a TOP TEN team in that classification, easily. Friday night WILL answer a lot of questions! But it also may create a lot more if it is as close as most of think it will be. The 2022 IHSAA playoffs, and the regular season schedule changes next year with no longer having a closed conference; Will go a long way to answering a lot of the questions/concerns as to what the teams in FW are really all about. You cannot keep playing a particular style and schedule that is absent of a flavor outside of the SAC and then expect success once the playoffs begin. I give the SAC 2 years and they will then see that there is a difference in things outside of the FW Area dictating a significant upgrade in every facet of FB play and focus in order to make it back to LOS on a regular basis.
  10. I have spoken to a number of women to get into FB officiating. Sadly, it is a tough sell. Every official on this forum is well aware of a female official that is more than qualified to assume the reins of any/every position on the gridiron. I really WANT them on the field! I WANT them on the court! I WANT them in stripes!
  11. Please, temper this comment with a "FW area caveat".... Carroll is NO JOKE! Bishop Luers shouldn't be looked at as a team 39 points less than the Chargers. Bishop Luers just didn't have the numbers to compete with a 6A top ten team. But in everyway they are well in tune with competing well in 2A FB as the season progresses. As for Carroll. This may be THE team that can compete well into the Semi-State from the FW Area in 6A that those in NE Indiana have been waiting for. They looked solid on both sides of the ball as well as on special teams. Coach Dinan has tapped into something that has been lacking at CHS in the past few years.....a HUNGER. CHS also benefits from the shuffle in the 6A brackets allowing them to avoid the local rivalry 'trap game' that seems to doom them (or Homestead/Snider) a lot. With Snider down in 5A that also benefits them....and that 5A bracket is loaded also with Snider/North Side/Dwenger all waiting to cannibalize one another come playoff time. Let's talk next Saturday morning after the Snider/Carroll tilt. There is ALL SORTS of underlying animosity involved every time they meet. This should go a long way to defining FB in the SAC this season. But there are also a number of others in the SAC that will have impacts.... great year for the quality of FB in FW as far as I am concerned.
  12. I wish that I could up vote this post 1K times. Absolutely on point and an understanding of the current situation!
  13. Last year of the Summit Athletic Conference being a 'closed conference'..... We shall soon see if those in FW can continue to pontificate about the mightiness of the schools that the SAC supplies.
  14. Not IMO! But I have a vested interest..... 😛
  15. Exactly my sentiment with the situation that ADs seem to have settled upon...
  16. Welcome to the "new normal". A lot of us (officials) have been saying for quite some time, that schools need to start looking for 'alternative' game days NOW!!! Rather than later. Also, with the advent of 8-man football.....I've said to the HILLS: "Play these games on a Wednesday night". There is no way they will be able shoe-horn themselves into the current system and play on a consistent basis Thursday-Saturday, with the dearth of officials that exists. I have told numerous schools that have inquired (current season[s]).... "What about Thursday night games? What about Saturday night games?" CRICKETS! I guess they feel that the 'game' isn't integral to the quality of officiating that they 'could' have... I feel that the 3rd team on the field is PRIMARY to the ability of those student-athletes' experience in this (and any other) extra-curricular activity. It (officiating) should not be viewed as an 'aside'..... If this is the 'new normal'.... Lord help us! Players deserve a better attempt by AD's in providing quality, rather than just WARM-BODIES... tossing flags, etc.
  17. The "richness" of both coaching and the 'programs' in the area, should far exceed any loss(es) that occur year to year with the SAC. Just log onto Summit City Sports and check out the SAC. Week One: North Side v. Snider..... heck of a game to kick things off
  18. Start moving HS playoff games to Saturday and you'll REALLY see a dearth of officials who won't be around in Indiana. Many do (various levels) of College FB on that day. Not a great idea, IMO!
  19. Quentin Bowen is the new Northrop Coach.... That is who is being referred to
  20. You asked a question. I answered. Then I NUMEROUS times suggested that you contact the Commissioner. Its funny that discussions like this are why officials are leaving the sport. Always have to get in that LAST and FINAL word to guarantee that you are correct. Thank goodness I have no games in the TRC anytime soon.
  21. Again...this is a blog. I have said numerous times..... Contact Commissioner Faulkens and get a definitive answer! I am not here to haggle over minutia! Perhaps you are
  22. That is correct. The Team Issue balls are NOT approved for use in the playoffs. Only the Wilson GST. If you do not provide that FB. Then the other team's Wilson GST will be used for the contest by BOTH teams. There is also no guarantee that YOU will have footballs rotated in, as you are at the whim of the team with the approved footballs to provide to you "additional" balls. A report will be submitted to the IHSAA office of the Team Issue FB situation....and that is that. Again. You can confirm this information with an email or call to Commissioner Faulkens.
  23. Absolutely on point. Again. These seem totally legal for the REGULAR season. But once the tournament starts....no way, no how they would be approved! I don't know where anyone got the idea that "once the Regionals began" they would be tossed. They are OUT immediately once the playoffs begin. Wilson GST only! If you need a confirmation...contact Commissioner Faulkens. I am positive that he will say the same. (Include the picture that is provided) As an aside, this came up with MY crew during the regular season with a "rubberized ball" that had all the necessary markings of the NFHS which we tossed. The HC didn't make a big deal about it....but I (of course) followed up the NEXT day with a proper ruling of the situation. A HEARTY apology was issued, along with the IHSAA's official stance on the footballs that could/should be approved FOR THE REGULAR season ONLY!
