Program Lore, Trivia and Tidbits
Yuccaguy replied to BDGiant93's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
You JUST HAD to slip that last guy in there didn't you? Welp, I've never heard of him, just sayin -
You (Harrison) in some circumstances need to take what is in front of you in order to "advance". Harrison is a different situation tan that which is has been espoused by others in this discussion. In ways of conference change, as well as classification disruption(s). Were you to press me; I'd say this is fine for the Raiders at this point. Should they feel a sense of advancement in the ensuing seasons, then look for more competition. But IMO, THIS schedule will more than allow them to be a force in the Sagamore and perhaps 6A (ping pong balls).

From the approach of what Snider "should do" this makes sense. But from the aspect of East Noble...This is a GREAT matchup to prep them for 4A football. Sometimes the other side of the coin needs to be taken into consideration also.

I'll be watching the "BIG GAME". And pissed off as usual, since the NFL totally F'd my beloved city of Saint Louis.....TWICE! I don't feel that as a native Missourian, I should HAVE to feel an affinity for KC. But I'll be satisfied with whomever wins this contest. Actually I just look for total chaos in these situations. My inner @Muda69 and @Rodney is in full effect with the NFL at this time of year. The ONLY thing that I am happy for is Indy's own Kevin Brown in the Replay Booth. If (Fort Wayne's) Brian Bollinger were on the side, I'd be giddy as all get out.... Indiana would be well represented!

Thank Goodness!!! On this one. I ABSOULETY agree with you. Coach Buzea can see the challenges ahead, and Coach Brevard has a program that is coming into its'' own (IMO). This is a good matchup for BOTH schools. -

Then just agree with me, and stop quoting or "tempting" @temptation for some sort of response. He'd agree with me. I am a NORTHERN guy, and there's no defense for 6A football outside of scheduling better competition that doesn't include Indy or the "donut". Snider didn't win one in 6A! So I don't think that you hold any argument on that regard. 5A ain't 6A Football! 😆 Boxer briefs. Boxer briefs. And is was 5 years ago. We haven't begun 2025. -

Carroll won in a SNOWSTORM! Get real! (was HSE jacked after a 2 hour bus ride also?...same scenario as HHS had with Noblesville). Then CHS got blasted at LOS. (still proud of the Chargers for getting there) Last I checked, Snider didn't win a Blue ribbon. So stop with the ridiculous stuff! What 6A team north of 24 do you seriously think is winning at LOS at this time? -

Give me a BETTER one? You absolutely know that I am correct in my assessment of 6A FB outside of the "donut".... -

This is WHAT those "North of US24" need to be doing! Play schools outside of the area, and see how you compare. The ability to learn and have a template for further competition, is NOT a weakness! I honestly go back to the Noblesville 1st round game a few years back vs. an SAC Champion Homestead team to see the competition situation. 9-0 Homestead. Then barely squeaking by a Noblesville team that was 1-8 in the HCC in OT. -
Might want to look at what was done to Johnny Bright, one of the GREATEST players ever to come out of Indiana. He was basically massacred in game. No penalties ever called. I wasn't born in the 1950's. But as an avid fan of football, I've made myself aware of many of the historical slights that have occurred within that sport (and others). When on to become a CFL legend and is in their HOF. BOTH, Bo and Herschel had much better seasons the years "before" they won the Heisman. At that point it was basically a career award, not a season-season award.

Character??? I don't think that throwing women out out of window (as a PROFESSIONAL) even comes into the perview. YET, in EVERY PROFESSIONAL League, GAMBLING is absolutely forbidden 🚫! That would be the "Golden Boy, and Alex (Mongo) Karras). None of that has anything to do with college football in 1956.. Nice try. Also, Jim Brown played BOTH sides of the ball. Care to address that difference? 3-6 losing season at ND. Cotton Bowl Championship at Syracuse University.
-
Not "insinuating"... I am ABSOLUTELY saying it! Also, as an aside. Explain why Hershcel Walker and/or Bo Jackson didn't win when it was quite clear that EACH was the best Collegiate player when they were underclassmen? Rules were placed upon them that only Archie Griffin was able to overcome. Manti Teo. ..PULEEZE. Paul Hourning? (he) Benefited from being a part of the Irish "subway" - National coverage. Jim Brown by far had a better season @ Syracuse University.

Other Coaching Changes
Yuccaguy replied to bucksfan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Looks like FW Wayne is also in the market for a HC. Sherwood Haydock has said he's not coming back next season. Per Outside the Huddle https://outsidethehuddle.net/2024/12/03/blitz-examining-the-open-area-coaching-jobs-and-what-to-expect-at-each/ -
I don't know much about SE Indiana, but this sure seems like an issue that one school (4A) has here in NE Indiana - IMO- that is EXACTLY what the NE8 would avail to them and they'd fit comfortably in that conference. Yet, they are a 'bit' outside of the conference's travel area and also border the Michigan State line. Unlike East Central, they need to get the competition that the NE8 could provide. East Central should stay where they are, and unless and until the other conference rivals say different.... they are fine.

6A Tournament Discussion
Yuccaguy replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
AND THEN... i further clarified my statement by saying: As I said before, and got THROUGHLY "roasted" by Da Region guys..... Unless and until the Northern schools in 6A start playing beyond US24 on a regular basis and getting a feel for this type of play, the (true) North is just playing for the red ribbon in 6A. I stand by that; To paraphrase a statement by Barry Goldwater in 64 (ugh).... "In Your Heart you know I'm Right". -
NJ-SP will be a force in 1A for the foreseeable future. Even "coaches" learn things, and see teachable situations as time goes by. And that's a disparaging remark. I have always tried to suggest within a 'blowout' win, to think about the larger situation and perhaps the negative things that could happen within a contest that is well within control to a sideline. 54-0 would have been a moment for that to happen.

Probably the most STRAIGHT FORWARD post @temptation ever made. But "all" #1's IMO -

@Boilernation This IS what I said.... Not YOUR paraphrase and changes of my posting that only mentioned particular Northern schools! -
6A Tournament Discussion
Yuccaguy replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Nope... It HASN'T and won't until the Northern teams can look beyond "conference" competition as the barometer of success. Defeatist? I prefer to look at the situation as a decades' (+) worth of PROOF of Central Indiana (and the donut) dominance at the 6A level. What are you looking for? A fight between myself and a HS Coach? Be serious! Video, Numbers, History doesn't lie! I'm a Northern guy....and it'd be great when someone can break through at LOS. So if that's something that ruffles your feathers, so be it! You are arguing the same side of the coin, that I am. Unfortunately, you seem to think that I have some sort of 'agenda'. As for reffing a game.... I care less who wins or loses EVERY GAME! It's a play to play situation that determines how I view things. I only offered a "fan" suggestion when allowed and not constrained by the situation(s). That is NOT officiating at the time and place.... I'm not a graduate of any Indiana HS. As for this discussion...there's NO WAY that I can ever begin to see you @Boilernation to see anything other than a disparagement of an official who has offered a personal suggestion for the Northern 6A teams to try and compete with Central (Southern as determined by the geographic selection with IHSAA FB) in order to try and level their outlook and bring home a title.
