  1. Welp. 19 is exactly what I thought... a BEAST of a draw.
  2. 1A North is down... Fairly nice match-ups so far. Ping pong balls have allowed some scattering of games.
  3. Great Dwenger catch to set up the 1st points of the game...🫣
  4. In a major change...Mishawaka will be installing Field Turf for the 24 season and beyond.
  5. I absolutely HATE being the "Uniform Policeman"... But every week when I see crews allowing untucked jerseys, and no regard for covered knees (prior to the action), its' a disgraceful situation...IMO. I don't get bent out of shape about BIG guys on the LOS... Who knows what sizes the schools orders for the average sized kid at this time of their life? Tinted Face Shields... Excessive eye black (we play at night mostly....ugh). The allowance of the rib protector to be sticking out, is stupid. I have read of situations where a kid has fallen on that and gotten a laceration of an internal organ. It may seem fashionable to some, but it is extremally dangerous to have it not covered by the jersey completely. Allowing the play card to be on the waist, and NOT reminding that it is to be located on the forearm(s). As I alluded to with the beginning of MY rant... It would be great if crews (officials) just tried to conform to the UNIFORMITY of what a UNFORM should be at this level of sport. I'll just wait for the next 2 weeks to come, and the BITCHING of assignments/evaluations will start all over again within our fraternity, and I'll (wash/rinse and) repeat the things that I say each and every year to them regarding the SIMPLEST of things that could allow them to advance.....far beyond being the UNIFORM POLICE.
  6. Technically correct, I believe. But (after listening to 1380). There seems to be some sort of other parameters that they are using to further 'define' who actually gets the Bell. You would have thought that the SAC could have come up with a better calculation than just 'wins'. Without a cross-over game that involves the teams at the top. Why not just take a POLL and name a winner? Kinda like the AP/Coaches of the NCAA prior to a National Championship series.
  7. Ya sure you didn't "time travel" back to Jimtown a few years ago? The legacy of the great Bill Sharpe!
  8. Mercy Rule also is by State adoption. Sorry about that. OT thing was incorrect. NFHS standard
  9. Bob is MY Mentor. I've learned more from him, and employed things in my FB career that you can never comprehend. I just try to be a conduit until he arrives and gives a better view of situations .... He can ALWAYS give me guidance! I'm not an attorney... Hell I can barely balance my finances... 😁
  10. Thank you. At this point. Though I believe my understanding of THIS sport is great. I am can learn much more from those whom I have "been there-done that". If you could reach out to the administration and have them send the IFOA a video of the play, it would be wonderful. On behalf of ALL Officials... We are NOT PERFECT. These scenarios help us 'learn' and become better on Friday nights (and beyond) .....
  11. Could, but with time having expired without a penalty that would 'extend' the period.... It still is a situation that ends the contest. Had there been yardage attached, to the situation (with the picking up of the flag...there was not) . You could not have a situation that would extend the period with an untimed down. May I suggest that YOU forward this to the IFOA for a training video?
  12. Sorry about the "assumption" then... And you know what ASS-U-MING means The flag should have been a sideline warning... But the game should have been ended by the ball settling because of the block behind the LOS. Had Team A advanced the ball (prior to the 'settling' of the ball behind) to the line-to-gain... then we'd have had a conundrum to figure out with Team B being on the field of play. In this case...as you have given more info. The contest is done. B would/could be assessed a sideline warning (at best). But at no time could A then possess the ball because they did not make the Line to Gain with the free kick of the ball. I'm sorry if this doesn't satisfy what you are wanting in the adjudication of the play.....
  13. Ya know ME... That's a measurement ON grass! I ain't gonna have the "Original Caveman" all over MY ass on a 4th down and short!
  14. Yes, it is. The ORIGINAL "force" is the kick itself. TOUCHBACK!
  15. So it DID NOT go forward to the 20 yard line as you originally said you never said it went backwards? "Team B blocks field goal. Ball settles around Team B 20 yard line as time expires." Dead Ball, game over. Because you said it settled. I'm trying to figure out how AFTER the time expired, that you could want an 'untimed down'? It is a sideline warning at best.... Not illegal participation.
  16. Sectional #19 is no JOKE! Things have tightened a lot with EN getting that PHISICALITY back in play. And yes, New Haven needs to bulk up next week vs. EN. The "blind draw" in this Sectional will have an impactful effect on what happens.
  17. Did Team B ever "touch" the ball past the Line of scrimmage (20 yard line) in this situation? Think of the Leon Lett play. This seems to be an EXCELLENT example of what you are espousing in order to want Team A to again possess the ball.. https://youtu.be/0rNQ4puNN5Q?si=v7xx5_OZUMkFcTJU
  18. If and ONLY "IF" the athletes that are roaming the stands on Friday nights can be lured to the gridiron rather than TRACK/Basketball .... They can be. It's sad to know the talent that is in the stands every week that is not being 'tapped'.
  19. Northrop, didn't do themselves any favors with STUPID penalties and actions. That helped out a lot....trust me
  20. PROHIBITION ON TRIPPING THE RUNNER [2-45, 9-4-3o (NEW), 9-4-3o PENALTY (NEW)] Rationale: In an effort to decrease risk, tripping the runner is now prohibited. It is now a foul to intentionally use the lower leg or foot to obstruct a runner below the knees.
  21. My largest concern is BEYOND the Sectional Finals. I would like to have 7 man crews from that point forward. The IHSAA in every other sport, adds additional officials for the playoffs, yet when it comes to FB. "Crickets " and opposition to the situation. Then why at the Finals, do you implement a 6th official for FG/PAT? Adding 2 officials is a great way to help younger officials stay engaged! I know of at least 6 that I'd jump at the opportunity to employ with my crew. This HAS to be taken up by the IFCA... at this point ....Meridian Street will NEVER budge!
  22. In the past few years I have called this NUMEROUS times. Please understand that Saturday (Collegiate) and Sunday (Professional) Football is NOT what we adjudicate! Tuck in your shirts! (no under shirts exposed...FAT guys on the lines get an exception (😄) ... Cover the knees, NO tinted shields, Play calling sheets on the waists, Sleeves that have excessive "gripping adhesion", No electronic Boards to relay in plays , NO electronics to communicate with on field players....(Uniform Police). Get with the program officials. Just stop it BEFORE it happens! Because if they see this crew, we WILL end it! In PRE-GAME.....
  23. I will ALWAYS provide the needed funding to keep Tim's dream alive and growing! I may not always be the one in agreement with the "crowd", but I will ALWAYS support the GID however, or with whatever I can....going on 15+ years!
  24. I would reach out to the guys that traditionally play in MI, IL, OH and KY, and see if they use a 40 second clock. Other than that, we ALL use the same NFHS rules.
