That's a whole nother situation, as the stands tend to drain out after halftime. Totally disgusts me. "What did yawl come here to see?"

6A Tournament: OFFICIAL Thread
Yuccaguy replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
When I was in HS, the HC was basically "trolling" the school... No idea what he 'taught'. Some of the Assistant Coaches should have been listed as 'HS Muscle'... it was a different time heading into the early 80's, than it is today. -
I always tell BOTH HC's that I will NOT start the halftime clock UNTIL they reach the locker room door!. I also tell both HC's at the pregame meeting: At at the 3 minute mark of both pregame and halftime, we will knock on their door for them to get back on the field. If for some reason they delay and do make it back in time.....well?? As for clearing the field (band/etc.) ...I've only had one occasion that I had to toss a flag. The home team AD absolutely TOLD me to do so! He had had enough of the Band Director's hijinks I guess. Turned into a 15 yarder as both teams had to navigate the band doing their 'thang' for 20+minutes of a 15 minute published halftime. Ugh.

Eastbrook vs Alexandria (one for the ages)
Yuccaguy replied to 36_Belly's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I am NOT a coach. But I probably would have had phalanx of 9 guys from the -10 towards the goal line. Who cares about the rush/pressure? -
Question about the off-week for 5A and 6A
Yuccaguy replied to gindie's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
There IS a shortage. But honestly, having the bye week at the beginning rather than prior to the finals, isn't an impedance to having officials. Actually, in essence... it is better on all counts to having better schools AND fresher more prepared officials towards the END of the tournament. -

@PHJIrish Only "Eddie Mush" in Goodfellas would have Anderson in this situation.... -
#1. A game/quarter/half CANNOT end on a penalty by the offense or the defense if accepted. This is different than Professional rules. (the) Acceptance would result in an untimed down (after the penalty enforcement). #.2 No. Again, an accepted penalty (offensive in this case) would force Alexandria to snap the ball for an untimed down to complete the game. As I have said in a different posting: The call was CORRECT. An accepted penalty against either the Offense or Defense does NOT end the game. In this case, AHS had to accept the penalty in order to take the TD off the board. Since the clock ran out, EHS gets one UNTIMED DOWN... they then scored. Absolutely applied correctly, no matter what the broadcasting team was screaming about.

Let me just say THIS. At my Round One game last night. May as well have been a Cheech and Chong situation with the smell of WEED emitting on and around the field. DAMN!!! It was thick. I am actually kinda worried that I may not pass a drug test if given on Monday. 😗
-
That's possible. No comment on that situation. Merely focusing on the adjudication of an accepted penalty that ends with no time on the clock. Too many people/fans think that HS has the same rules applications as (the) NFL and/or College. They don't!
-
Yes, but you would be a fool to give the score. Make them score from (40 yards?) away with the untimed down option. And NO the call was not determined by the result of the play. As I said before: An accepted penalty against either the Offense or Defense does NOT end the game.

Eastside 48 Whitko 0 FINAL

That came up last night. Told him that's NOT a HS rule. Dropped immediately by the questioning school.

At the risk of being "OUTTED"... When grown men believe that THEY are still playing the game, rather than taking a subdued/mature approach to COACHING UP players. It's a recipe for disaster! Brevard was absolutely on pace and on point for the program to achieve the success that has been ascribed to them. He left for Pike. I've had issues at EVERY level, and every staff it seems. Questions about simple things; A focus on minutia (i.e.: their kickoff ball isn't legal, even when I personally showed them why it IS legal in the regular season, but not the playoffs); Home clock operators not starting/stopping things or the play clock ALL game (yet when its less than 2 minutes in the 4th) now someone notices the situation that I have had all night. Of course after every play I'm yelling towards the press box to start the play clock for the past 36/38 minutes. Uniform issues. On field disrespect of officials, and not having the backup of the staff when told it's an issue.

I am pretty sure that @Rodney wouldn't have been THIS guy. I envision him being more of a fan of the game, and enjoying the atmosphere. Then making a rational approach and understanding of what happened and what was going on. The 'online' @Rodney probably is NOTHING like the 'in-person' one...no matter what he says.

CP won this game.... Pretty sure that was an EARLY score.

I'm just getting started on my cold ones, after that Carroll/Luers tilt. I'd have a lot to say, but I am bound by my 'professional situation' to keep my mouth shut on specifics of the contest. I WILL say that we were all a bit concerned in the 1st quarter that the "31 penalty" situation Carroll had last week in the Northrop game MIGHT be in play with the sloppiness of play going on with both teams. Thankfully all of that subsided once the 2nd quarter began, and we actually got a fairly clean game....according to most. Except at least one BIG MOUTH fan who was running his pie hole loudly all night from the cheap seats. Go Figure!
-
FYI, my crew DOES NOT have the Northrop game tomorrow, Just sayin. And, yes they do as the tournament progresses.
-
You should have a DIFFERENT crew. That particular one is known for 25+ penalties called on a regular basis. 31 penalties were called last week when the Bruins played Carroll. I spoke to another/different HC in the SAC tonight and he absolutely noted the crew and their penchant for penalty infractions.

One last thing. I am ready for postseason HS football. Coming over here and talking about other things is killing me.
-
I am also, Cignetti is something SPECIAL to IU. They pulled a diamond out in the rough, and are now getting the fruits of his knowledge and leadership.
-
I am not trying to make any aspersions... But can YOU make the same assumptions on the HS level within IN? 2025 has been EYE-OPENING in the Fort Wayne Area this year with regards to those who have traditionally TRAMPLED over their opponents without any effort, yet come up short at big occasions? Yet, this season they are just middling? Are you ready to join a chorus that will be calling for "change"? I wouldn't be... James Franklin style. I am fine with the tone, tenor and overall reach of the program over the years.
