  1. Just so we are clear on my position. I don't support taxpayer funded stadiums under any circumstance. This "performance requirement" is IMHO just a smokescreen.
  2. This makes me want to puke.
  3. Mel Gibson Controversy Highlights a Bigger Scandal: Many Americans Lose Their Gun Rights for No Good Reason https://reason.com/2025/03/12/mel-gibson-controversy-highlights-a-bigger-scandal-many-americans-lose-their-gun-rights-for-no-good-reason/?itm_source=parsely-api A travesty indeed.
  4. Mahmoud Khalil, the Great Rorschach Test https://reason.com/2025/03/11/mahmoud-khalil-the-great-rorschach-test/ Good questions. And does Mr. Trump's statement of "If you support terrorism, including the slaughtering of innocent men, women, and children, your presence is contrary to our national and foreign policy interests, and you are not welcome here." also pertain to American citizens, those were born and raised here? This is indeed a Rorschach test, and one that could open a nasty Pandora's box.
  5. I believe so.
  6. Here's a statistic to combat boredom. With their sectional victory Saturday night the Maconaquah Braves for the first time in school have sectional titles in the same year in: Football Girl's basketball Boy's basketball Girl's Cross Country
  7. It's time again! Contacted your elected representatives and tell them this antiquated form of social control needs to go the way of the dodo bird. https://reason.com/2025/03/10/were-overdue-to-end-daylight-saving-time/
  8. Why didn't the opposing coach tell his players to stop playing zone defense (as asinine decision once they knew the other team was going to play stall ball) and go to closely guarded man-to-man defense? Most every strategy in basketball as an opposing strategy that can counter it.
  9. The big question is what do you do with same-name counties? For example I know there are both Clay and Greene counties in both states. And I believe the Illinois counties are ones that have voted to secede. A fight to the death between county residents to see who gets to keep their county name?
  10. Now just waiting for Terry to hang it up as well...........
  11. https://www.jconline.com/story/sports/high-school/2025/03/04/harrison-hires-kyle-holderfield-as-head-football-coach/81337622007/ Good luck.
  12. Government needs to just get out of the education business, first at the federal level then at the state/local level. The website the following commentary comes from has a definite Christian bent but the points are all still valid: https://teachdiligently.com/articles/getting-government-out-of-the-education-business
  13. Happily married for 30+ years now. We just had a fantastic long weekend away from the house, staying at an Inn.
  14. I will let her know. And no thanks Elon. Not interested.
  15. I have posited these important questions to my spouse. Here are her responses: No. Not really. Maybe sentimental value? Drones will probably be around for a long time for recording games from a certain distance. The next big thing will be either be small cameras on the player's helmets and referee's hats or ocular implants with recording capability.
  16. So, are you an attorney? And this is a court of law?

*sigh* This old canard again. No, it wasn't: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_basketball Someone who by their posting history purports to be a native Hoosier and sports fan should know this simple fact. Do better. And back to the subject of IU Basketball: Just say NO to these hideous black uniforms: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2025/03/01/indiana-basketball-fans-react-to-new-uniforms-with-mixed-reviews/80995892007/?tbref=hp
  19. "Passion" usually doesn't pay the bills. Cold, hard cash does. Thank you. So the time a head coach has to put forth is unchanged regardless of whether or not they have any assistant coaches or possibly administrative-type help. I don't believe you, basically based on what what stated earlier here regarding at least one high school coach and media requests. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth. First you whine and cry about the "obscene" amount of time a high school head football coach's job supposedly takes. Then when questioned about that statement you say "but they do it for the passion so that makes such work OK" and bring up the money angle. I have plenty to do. Enjoyed yesterday hiking through the woods of southern Indiana, had a great time. Today I spent mostly on a home renovation project. I don't exactly what "hill" I am supposedly willing to die on here. Please, elaborate. ? Please revise what you are trying to say here. Looks like a typo.
  20. Hmm, moving the goalposts I see. Nobody is forcing these individuals to take head coaching jobs. Maybe if several such positions would go unfilled due to the monetary compensation packaged things would change. Doesn't an "obscene" amount of time demand a similar amount of monetary compensation? And I see more assistant coaches than ever on high school sidelines on Friday nights. Don't their jobs exist to reduce this supposedly "obscene" amount of time for the head coach?
  21. My spouse. My spouse.
  22. Wow, the athletic department of a government high school the size of New Palestine has enough money for such an extravagance? I bet you feel lucky. Sounds like you could be doing better. Is this your retirement "gig"? Kind of like a Walmart greeter?
