There are several oddities, I’ve not had a lot of KY schools, but I’ve had a ton of Ohio schools and they’re all very good about understanding when they come to Indiana they play by our rules. And in talking with some of the coaches that play there, they get it. I had bigger issues with KY schools in JV games as Madison and Switz has added county schools from across the river. One school brought their V to the JV on Monday at Switz, yep the exact same team that play on Friday, less their senior, notice senior was not plural.

I believe currently 47 of the 50 states play by NFHS rules. The other three being NCAA. So yes, for the most part same playing rules. However some nuanced stuff is different. For instance, during COVID, our team box was expanded 20-20. KY kept that and allow coaches down there. We never allowed coaches. Does that make sense?

We had I believe Warren South at Gibson Southern a few years back, if that team is indicative of the kind of ball they play in Bowling Greene, I’d expect a game. Or it could be a WC/NC situation, 20 minutes apart and in different universes.

Football is the last bastion, but I fear the tide is overwhelming.

An 8 team conference would be ideal. That gives you two non-conference games to make some money on a local rival or go play whoever you want. Seymour has struggled over the years filling three non-conference games. River schools are in the same boat, you’re going to Louisville and getting your ass kicked or you’re driving three hours.

I really don’t understand this move. It’s my understanding EIAC doesn’t want them, unless others come. Not sure the dynamics of it all, but I can see any of the other five (other than Jeff and NA) bolting any time if they can find a soft spot to land. Not sure Seymour, BNL, or JC would be interested in playing in a conference with both Bloomington/Columbus schools. I know it’s been done, geographically/Indiana’s highways and byways, you can’t get from Seymour to Bloomington. JC would be interested the same boat. Considerable size differences as well. BNL and JC are both losing enrollment. Who knows where Seymour will be enrollment wise, I guess it depends on whether Ice agents ever make it to town. I can guarantee you this, if BNL, Seymour, CE, or JC gets a chance to cut ties with Jeff and NA they’ll do it in a heartbeat.

They’re not playing a full conference schedule, which apparently is OK now.

According to my information Bloomington joined the SCC in 64.

Sadly I’m old enough to remember Jeff, Seymour, Southport, Columbus (North), and Bloomington ( South) were all in the South Central Conference together.

One question I’ve always wondered, HHC plays some decent bat and ball sports. In fact virtually every year one of the river BB teams usually has at least one first round pitcher or sometimes two. FC has had some phenomenal SB teams, I remember facing them during Castleberry’s tenure they had 8 D1 players in ther lineup. JC in years past has had some great SB teams with some of the best pitching in southern Indiana, a player that may well be one of the best all around players to ever come out of southern Indiana. I think a handful of final fours but not the success you would expect. Has always puzzled me.

And as luck would have it, it never did…..though I did have it happen on a punt once and my U came in for the save!
