  1. No idea, the format I received from the school was: Quarter 1: 15 plays or 15 minutes Team A -25 yard line 15 plays or 15 minutes Team B -25 yard line 6 plays –First down and Goal Team A - 5 yard line 6 plays- First down and Goal Team B -5 yard line 7 minute break/ warm up
  2. I'm not naming names, but I know for a fact that a 12 pack and a pint of Makers one night did not make it the 15 minute ride from the liquor store a block down the street from New Pal to Cheeseburger in Paradise in Southport. Again, I'm not naming names, but I have heard there are some crews that are drinking teams with a football habit.
  3. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. We have had coaches talk to us at several association meetings. I think having dialogue between coaches and officials away from the field usually yields good results. We get a lot of feedback from coaches that they appreciate our communication. Sometimes we have to agree to disagree but we always try to get them answers to their questions. Fortunately I think the "Bob Knight" approach of working the officials to get a call late in the game, is going the way of the dinosaur.
  4. I have seen emails offering $100-$150 for lower level games. This has been going on in Baseball for a couple of years. I know some conferences set prices for officials so that schools can't out bid each other for officials. We see pay all over the place, some schools are currently paying $100 for a V game and the bottom side I've seen recently is $65. We got a $68.50 check last year as well, I can't help but wonder how the arrived at that number. We drove 2 hours last year for a game in rain and mud, ending with some freezing rain for 65 bucks. They did have towels for us and a decent shower, but the general consensus was "we ain't coming back here". And I will admit, we have not taken games based on pay/dressing facilities/decent showers and a towel. When I was still coaching, I used to take care of officials during tournaments at Seymour, and Seymour hosts a bunch of tournaments. It takes very little effort to take care of them, and they'll remember you and want to come back. As far as pay, I never expected to get rich doing this, but geez 65 bucks for 4 1/2 hours of my time, not including travel, is kind of a slap in the face. Forget the fact that officials have a skill set that is require for you to have the game. Regardless the current situation is not good for the game, which ultimately is why we're all here. I don't know what the answer is, but we need to start thinking outside the box.
  5. In a discussion with another Catholic AD a week or so ago, he alluded to the fact there could be some athletic ramifications from this situation which is sad. Politics has no place on the athletic field.
  6. I usually try to ask the QB privately. After working the entire game, you have a pretty good feel for what’s going to happen.
  7. This is funny, I don't care who you are! https://shop.donaldjtrump.com/products/fredo-unhinged-tee-1?_pos=1&_sid=f5705956a&_ss=r
  8. I would have had no problem with: 1. Instantly just punch the guy right in the nose. 2. Kept his mouth shut and kept walking. As it stands they both look like two middle schoolers yelling "come at me bro" Don't wrestle with pigs, you'll just get dirty, and the pig likes to be dirty.
  9. C’mon man. In second scenario I can’t wait to explain to B’s coach.
  10. I got this play from another forum, interested to see everyone's take. This play was part of our discussion Sunday night at our meeting, I would be interested to see what everyone's take is on it...
  11. This is the biggest reason why most gun owners oppose pretty much any new gun laws, because they only affect law abiding citizens. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2014/10/05/exclusive-violence-rises-prosecutors-bargain-away-gun-charges-indianapolis-marion-county/16760997/?fbclid=IwAR0MsIrQVFnn7doWa5_HwbdGGjsPvptBV88x7kZ8Ws8EmqUqDOyau-3S4yw
  12. You are not required to have any special permission from the government to own a tank with an inoperable gun. If you can afford to buy it and drive it, they are legal in all 50 states as far as I'm aware. Driving it on the public roads is another discussion. Bring your checkbook, I have read accounts that some of the gasoline variants of the Sherman get as much as .8 mile to the gallon. By contrast our current M1 main battle tank gets about .6 mile to the gallon. On the bright side of things the turbine in the M1 will run on about anything that will burn, gas, Jet A1, kerosene, diesel, etc.
  13. I've never checked. I don't own nearly enough property, they are INCREDIBLY expensive not only to run, but maintenance is off the charts. The six figure price tag is the easy part. It is my understanding you not only have to have $200 tax stamp on the main gun and any gun over .50 bore, but you also need a $200 tax stamp on each round over .50 bore. I've seen Sherman main gun casings for sale, it's cost prohibitive for pretty much anyone that doesn't have FU money.
  14. http://seilocalsports.com/ does a great job with southeast Indiana sports.
  15. You need a federal destructive device permit, and live in a tank friendly state.
  16. Eastern and Springs Valley are at Scottsburg for a jamboree.
  17. I listened to a little of Joe Rogan's podcast with The Bern last night. It was interesting to listen to him in a format where he's not raving like a lunatic. I was a little disappointed in Joe's questioning, I was expecting a little more. The only thing he managed to get out of Bernie was he was going to create this utopia with a 1/4%-1/2% tax on Wall Street speculation trades. According to the radio this morning Bernie is polling about 8% at the Iowa State Fair Corn Poll, we'll behind the less bat$hit crazy candidates.
  18. Have you read his manifesto? I contend the media took one component and ran with it. While I agree with the shooters not getting any pub in these situations, in this case when it's becoming so politicized, the manifesto should be made available to the public. It is very difficult to find.
  19. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not the tin foil hat conspiracy guy. His death obviously should be investigated. He's dead and he was in US custody. I'm not ready to blame the Clinton's, Trump, Buckingham Palace, or the Russians. I would say suicide is not that uncommon in these types of situations.
  20. Then prosecute. Many moons ago when my wife was on the teller line and our local immigration situation started, she said the tellers knew Hispanics were using counterfeit documents to cash checks. The banks policy was if they presented proper documentation to not question it, cash the check, and get them out the door. In talking to people in the construction trade in CA, SOP is stop in the morning and pick up however many workers you'll need for the day. Buy them lunch, pay them cash at the end of the day and drop them off where you picked them up. This is just how it's done. Illegal workers usually hang out where people will shop that are needing help, Home Depot, Lowes, U-Haul, lawn and garden centers. No argument from me, prosecute the people who hire illegals. We the citizens of the US are just as responsible for this issue as we are imports from Pacific rim countries and China, we want the cheapest possible products, and we don't care how we get them.
  21. Yes they could get hurt, kidnapped.....I suppose it's possible they could be abducted by aliens (the outer space kind) as well. As I have often said, you can't protect your kids from life, ultimately it will kill them. After waiting in line for what seemed like hours at the pharmacy to pick up a script for my wife Saturday, and not being about to not overhear the customer in front of us and the discussion with the pharmacist over a Vitamin D supplement.....here's a thought, skip the supplement and just go outside and play.
