I totally get what you're saying. And I agree there are schools out there that put money into and do maintenance on their fields. But that's not the majority of schools. If you look at a base of 750K for the initial install and figure 12 years for the life of the surface you're looking at 62.5K a year in maintenance costs. Even adding some sod now and then, mowing, chemicals, grass seed, water, etc., I don't think you're going to come up with 62.5K a year in maintenance costs. As I stated earlier, it's hard to quantify all the other events that are now possible with the artificial surface and put a price tag on them. I'm not arguing against it, I'm just saying the initial cost is hard to justify from a financial standpoint. Lastly why is it that every time it rains on Friday night, we're always on one of the worse grass/dirt fields the state has to offer? -

Green Bay has switched to SIS Grass in the last year. They also employ grow lights to extend the growing season. Little known fact, SIS Grass is the preferred surface for Soccer pitches the world over. fac -

FYI, those natural grass field in colder areas this time of year, they're spending a buttload of money on green paint. -

Kind of like the latter part of season three. When a largely legit type movie/show stays in the real world, then jumps into the paranormal, it kind of loses me. Guiltless pleasure, I love Mountain Monsters, now on Travel Channel. Yes I understand it's fake, yes I know it's predictable, but it does offer some insight into local folklore in the Appalachian region, even venturing into Ohio and Kentucky. Beside what's more entertaining than a bunch of hillbillies with guns in the woods. So as they've made the transition from Destination America to Travel Channel, the show has taken a clearly defined turn into the supernatural realm. This is where show producers lose me. There is a new "finding Bigfoot" type show on Travel Channel which does possibly hold some promise, with actual research personnel. Expedition Bigfoot. Maybe it turns into another bogus show, but the first episode tends to show them taking a scientific approach to finding Bigfoot. -

Unfortunately not all HS fields are like your dream field. College/pro, I really don't care, they can afford whatever they want. -

I did the math with an AD friend of mine who had recently installed their second carpet. Cost wise they came out a little to the good with the turf, but it wasn't a great deal of savings over grass. Most of the people I've talked to are getting 10-12 years of life out per install. It's not hard to tell when they're ready to be replaced. One factor that's hard to quantify is the fact you can play in a driving rain on Friday night, with zero maintenance you're ready to go for the JV/Frosh Saturday morning, and still no maintenance for the youth league on Saturday afternoon/Sunday, and it's still ready to got for practice all week as well as MS games. I agree 100% it's a capital outlay on the first go around, and I struggled in my own mind when the local school opted for it. But I sure don't miss twisted ankles, muddy clothes, and ruined shoes/knickers/socks. Of course we don't have those things anymore, but you get the gist of what I'm saying. -

It's impossible to justify the initial install. Replacing the turf after the initial install is justifiable. -

I'm not going to lie, for the 3-4 weeks or so, I'll have either Andy Griffith, South Park, or The Office reruns on the TV while I'm fixing supper, cleaning up after, doing laundry, whatever needs to be done around the house, when I finally sit down, it's either Netflix or Prime. I've watched several movies, reruns of Longmire, season 2 of Jack Ryan, the final season of Man in the High Castle, etc. Far more entertaining, and to be honest, I've watched a couple of really bad movies. The impeachment thing is pretty predictable. -
FISA warrants are serious things in my opinion. This isn't police going down the local judge getting a warrant to search a guy's house who's selling weed to his friends. Can anyone tell us how many votes were changed due to foreign meddling in the 2016 election? The basis for the FISA warrants was the Steele dossier which was acquired by a former British spy from Russian sources and paid for indirectly by the HRC campaign. I have no doubt our elections have been influenced for many years by many actors foreign and domestic. Not much different than the way I'm certain we have been meddling in elections around the world. If you feel so inclined I would suggest you take a listen to Joe Rogan's Podcast with Matt Taibbi, a writer with Rolling Stone. Far from a conservative voice, but the podcast gives a nice glimpse into the 2016 election and why journalist, at least in his circle were not surprised about the outcome. I would argue our own press is more culpable in influencing the outcome of our elections than anyone. Take ANY event nationwide, and you can easily predict the spin that any given news source is going to play on their newscast. Furthermore both parties are certainly responsible for rigging the game in their favor. There's a reason why third party candidates can't get any traction, it's a duopoly, it's a business, it's Coke vs. Pepsi, Apple vs. Google, Boeing vs. Airbus, etc. I'm not OK with our elections being tampered with and I'm far from a Trump groupie or apologist. But as has been pointed out, all of this tampering even with surveillance of the Trump camp, it happened under BHO's watch. See duopoly above.

When talking about government, deciding between conspiracy and incompetence I usually side with incompetence. But 17 instances of incompetence when it comes to the FISA warrant is a bit hard to swallow. Particularly when you listen to Comey describe the consummate professionals at the FBI. Some might argue the FBI is the standard by which corruption is judged.
