  1. Oregon hires Georgia DC Dan Lanning… (Go blue.)
  2. Couldn’t happen to a more terrible human being. Anyone with a pulse saw this coming.
  3. Yeah. A shame they are in the same class as MV…co-winners?
  4. These types of awards always amuse me. Of course I’m going to come across too many of you as a “hater”, but come on. Other than Mt. Vernon, these coaches all did was was expected of them coming into the season. Gimme Mason at Eastside in 2A. What that team did was phenomenal.
  5. I’ll be honest, I think the SEC vs Big Ten narrative is setting this line. Both teams have monster defenses and one could argue, MICHIGAN has the better offense (definitely the better QB). Folks are used to seeing Bama shred Big Ten teams in the playoff (see OSU/MSU, save for 2014) and using that to make their predictions. Georgia is not as good as folks thought they were all season and it turns out Michigan is much better and has been improving each week. As I stated above, the dogs were elevated to a pedestal for slowing down a Clemson outfit that was vastly overrated as it turns out. When it comes to talent however, Georgia, along with Ohio State and Alabama are easily the three most talented teams in the country. They will each have double figure draft picks in April. Michigan‘s offensive coordinator, along with their head coach just won coach of the year. They will have to outscheme the Georgia defense as Michigan’s bread and butter is running between the tackles and that just simply won’t work against Georgia. I am not saying Michigan should be favored, but I do not see it being a blowout in either direction.
  6. Eh, emotion can propel a team to a fast start but eventually the cream rises to the top and it comes down to execution. UGA looked like a deer in headlights when they had to rely on their offense to dig them out of a hole and climb back into the game.
  7. Eh, I’m not sure I would say “waxed.” The pick six makes the final score appear more lopsided than it was. As a fan of a team that has had some great seasons only to get blown out on Thanksgiving weekend, I get your point. You can lose late and still be one of the best four teams but you better have a large margin for error like Georgia did.
  8. “Fire Harbaugh.” ”Harbaugh can’t win big games.” ”It’s not in Jim Harbaugh’s DNA to ever beat Ohio State.”
  9. Both went out and scheduled a solid non conference game (though Cincinnati’s was on the road and Georgia’s was at a neutral site). Obviously Georgia’s body of work was more impressive but Cincinnati has the better win. Even though they won’t admit it, the committee didn’t want a rematch in the semifinal because I think Michigan nearly quadrupling the spread and still getting leapfrogged by a Bama team that everyone left for dead last week is more egregious than Georgia over Cincinnati.
  10. Ah, gotcha. Can't put a price tag on going home, but the facilities, fan support, resources and lack of in-state competition for elite recruits makes it a daunting task. Going from 60k screaming fans at Autzen to a stadium that'll be one-third full and is 10+ miles away from campus will be an adjustment.
  11. SEC East = Big Ten West Leaving Oregon for Miami seems nuts on the surface. Will be fun to see how it plays out.
  12. Man, I love Cathedral and LCC posters chiming on these types of discussions. So rich.
  13. Why so confident in Georgia? Who’d they beat? Kentucky is their best win and they were elevated to an elite pedestal for holding what turned out to be an overrated Clemson squad to 3 points. Look, I’m not saying Michigan will win as the Big Ten’s performance in the playoff is well stated but I give the Wolverines one hell of a shot.
  14. If my head/chin are struggling to stay above, you are shipwrecked at the bottom my man. The mob is out in full force...
  15. If it doesn't happen or isn't seen at Cathedral its not reality. Every player in the state of Indiana comes from a stable, two-parent household family earning six figures and if they lose to Cathedral, they just need to "get better." Also, Cathedral plays teams 2-3 times its size in enrollment and wins state championships, so everybody should be able to do it. Any suggestion otherwise is a false narrative.
  16. I think I like Utah in that Rose Bowl matchup honestly. They will treat that thing like their Super Bowl and I'd be shocked if the Buckeyes don't have a few opt outs. Michigan has been notorious for letting Ohio State beat them twice at the end of the year over the last two decades and it usually manifests itself into a bowl loss due to lack of interest and motivation. No doubt the Buckeyes are the superior team but when looking at these bowl matchups, interest and motivation is tough to measure but can not be ignored. As for the original question/topic. As of this moment (I can change my mind over the next three weeks), I give Cincinnati a 15% chance and Michigan a 45% shot.
  17. 1. Skepticism is nowhere near being “left for dead.” 2. I dislike Saban as much as anyone but he is a master motivator/salesman. 3. You took my words out of context. Georgia belongs in but if they need to be motivated for a playoff game by a loss then they’ve already lost. 4. Catching Ohio State early in the season or catching a motivated rival in a weather environment that is not conducive to an explosive offense played huge roles in both of Ohio State’s losses this year. ND has a shot in 2022 but would get rolled by an OSU team with something to play for this year.
  18. Related: Can anyone tell me how/why Tech High School has suddenly become a premier destination in boys basketball? They are bucking that inner-city trend but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.
  19. One could argue CINCINNATI has a more impressive win on their resume than UGA, no? Now, do I think the Bearcats would have run the table with Georgia’s schedule? No.
