Figured as we approach week 6 (officially over halfway) now would be as good a time as any to sign your name to some mid-season predictions now that we have over a month of data on all schools. I’ll start: 6A: Hamilton SE vs Center Grove 5A: Snider vs Harrison (WL) 4A: Kokomo vs East Central 3A: Chatard vs Heritage Hills 2A: Luers vs Triton Central 1A: Adams Central vs Lutheran Whatcha got?

Buffs in for a rude awakening this Saturday in Eugene...that pass D is abysmal. Can't get away with that with Bo Nix on the opposing sideline. Calling 7-5 for them, still a huge step forward but they won't see the top 25 again after this weekend.

Tied for 61st.

30-50 (I actually rank 60) is sort of a crap shoot and I lack a lot of confidence in them. I'll answer individual questions about where I have teams though.

It’s a long standing joke on here…but I would like to point out that 7 of the 9 medalists in the 100 meter dash at last spring’s IHSAA state finals came from within 20 minutes of Monument Circle…

Would they be playing a potential regional game in a parking lot, on grass, or on field turf? I need to know more prior to making my pick... Also, how close does one team have to be close to a major metropolitan city for them to be considered in the "city speed > country speed" discussion? Asking for a friend... 24-4 on the season... Avon @ Fishers: Avon needs to remain patient as they nearly pulled one off at home last week against FC. Not easy in this conference as there are no Friday nights off. Fishers should be able to rest easy Thursday night and lick their wounds after losing to Brownsburg previously. I'll roll with the Tigers 34-14. Brownsburg @ Westfield: Game of the week in Indiana and my opinion as this one could decide the conference race. Brownsburg remains undefeated behind a beastly running game and Westfield earned the best win in the state last week with a road win at HSE. This once should be classic and Westfield just has a knack for winning these close ones. I'll take them in the mild upset. 27-24. Hamilton Southeastern @ Zionsville: What an unforgiving sport football is. HSE has been on both ends of last second outcomes these last two weeks which should benefit them come tournament time. No time to feel sorry for themselves however as Zionsville is capable of springing an upset. See this one as a one possession game in the second half before HSE grabs a late one to win 30-20. Noblesville @ Franklin Central: The two most unpredictable teams in the HCC in my opinion. Do I really have the stones to pick Noblesville? These teams have been so close to breaking through against the big boys but have yet to finish the job. I will go with the Millers but am not confident about it. Noblesville 23-17. What say you?

Back to "in conference play" for all "eight" schools....26-6 on the year. Ben Davis @ Lawrence North: The Giants came back to earth last week and sweated one out against Warren after continually shooting themselves in the foot (17 penalties), facing a freshman quarterback and allowing Warren to score two special teams touchdowns. They can't afford to do it again, especially on the road against a good LN squad coming off its first loss of the season. I am still not sure who the second best team in the MIC is but LN is right there in the conversation. They hang around before losing late. BD wins 30-24. Center Grove @ Lawrence North: Trojans return to the "road" for the first time since the opening week and play an in-state team for the first time. The Bears have been extremely underwhelming though I expect them to get up for this one. I'll say its close in the first half and then CG pulls away,,,31-17. North Central @ Carmel: I had to do a double take this morning...17 losses in a row for NC? Really? Make it 18 as Carmel figured some things out last week. Carmel wins 34-0. Pike @ Warren Central: Surely the folks on the east side would scoff at the notion that their Warriors earned a moral victory last week against BD but I am not one of them. Warriors showed fight despite losing their QB early to injury and a couple other defensive keys later. They'll get back in the win column this week with an easy breather against lowly Pike. Warriors win comfortably. 31-10. What say you?

Never said it didn't matter...but the difference between grass and turf is minmial.
