Any Whiteland fans on the GI Digest?

HS football is just better on Friday nights but it was really cool to see Castle and Mater Dei at the same place playing back to back. Would give fans something to cheer for in two games at one place.

Outside of just looking at schedules and scores. How is this game looking? It looked like Bloomington South was to be the favorite against Castle in Regionals but it really wasn’t close after halftime. Whiteland looks to play a large school schedule during the regular season. With Castle losing both their first and second string RBs they have moved a WR to starting RB. Castle also switched starting QBs around week 6. Their current qb was their #1 WR prior to the switch. He does have a little more mobility but losing him at WR hurts some . Any info on Whiteland? John Lidy Field at Castle still has a natural grass so hopefully the weather is good. Visitor side bleachers are elevated and fairly large.

Evv North 18 Castle 14 halftime- started out quickly 14-0 Castle. Haven’t moved the ball since.

Halftime. Castle 21 new Albany 14 starting RB Max McCool out with an injury early in the first quarter on a long run.

It’s so simple. All in tournament that is seeded by the participating schools in that sectional. Wrestling does it at literally every tournament with way more participants. It isn’t hard. Do it in football and basketball. Have a legit metric for determining seeding: head to head, record within sectional, records against same class, record against larger classes, etc.

To be fair, GS won state last year, loss their schedule with large schools out of conference, went undefeated so far, etc. the cockiness might be earned at this point.

I know Westfield has been in 6A for a bit but when did they actually move from 5A to 6A? They used to have under 1,000 students right?

Does anyone know what year each team started playing football? That would be cool to see the year with the number of wins.

What about previous coaches? How long were they there? I don’t know why but I feel like North doesn’t expect much and keeps coaches around forever. I could be completely wrong.

How long has Paridean been at North?

Watching the Castle game it was clear they (North) had more size and athleticism than Castle.

Castle just beat Vincennes by two TDs and it wasn’t even that close.

Castle never plays anyone 2 ways. They haven’t in a very long time. And yes the D line is tiny. Probably average 185-190.

It’s all how you look at power rankings. Best resume to date or who you think would win on the field tomorrow.

I watch crews for many of these things every game. I’m almost 40 now, but officiated from when I got out of the Marine Corps (age 24) until I got a job that prevented it on Fridays (age 30). I still miss it and keep telling myself when my youngest (10) is out of high school I’m getting back in to it.

Reason I ask… JV game had a blocked FG. Defense picked it up and ran it 75 yards back for a TD. One of the officials blew the whistle when it was recovered. Time was at 0:00 in the half. They declared an inadvertent whistle. The team that blocked the FG got the ball for one untimed down. They threw a pick 6.

Right. That’s why I was asking if anyone knew of any truth to it.

There was just talk of this at the Castle/Vincennes game on Friday night.

I keep hearing talk about Vincennes Lincoln moving to the PAC and Gibson Southern moving to the SIAC after this year. Is there any truth to this at all or just people making rumors?

I feel like I know the answer but I’m going to ask. On a field goal try that is blocked can the defense pick it up and run it back? Not an extra point but a field goal.

I was impressed with Harrison’s size, speed, and athleticism. Just a lot of mental mistakes. If they keep Sutton I don’t see how they don’t get better each year.
