I’m a massive supporter of the IFCA and I applaud their effort to implement this change. Being that I am no longer an active participant in the organization, I’ll use this avenue to make my suggestion. From afar, like most legislative initiatives, a middle ground likely has the best chance of passage. So here is my suggestion Seed only #1 and # 2 of each Sectional, therefore guaranteeing you have no 1 v 2 matchups regardless of the total number of teams in the sectional. Then blind draw the rest. This allows for the chance of a ‘new season’ mentality for teams that have struggled. A middle ground approach that answers both points held by the different supporters.

State Champion vs Class Champions

Impractical for football so its moot. -
State Champion vs Class Champions

But the original posters complaint wasn’t over which system is better, only that it wasn’t somehow accurate to call smaller schools a state champ. The original poster wasn’t complaining about the disparity in 6A, only their frustration that smaller schools get awarded terms for their victories. -

State Champion vs Class Champions
CoachGallogly replied to slice60's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I’ve found the people that complain about such things don’t come from the good programs fan bases, they come from big school fans who are annoyed they routinely get knocked out of the tourney early while smaller schools get to make deeper runs. What they really often want is the chance to beat up some schools 1/4 of their size and make the third round of an all in tourney and thump their chests about coming in 124th in the state, rather than 17th in their class. -
State Champion vs Class Champions

What problem are you trying to solve here? Is Lutheran walking around claiming they’d take down Ben Davis? Id assume all reasonable people can make a distinction between being the best in the state among peers. If your goal is semantics you need to add ‘high school’ to your state champion tag, otherwise Notre Dame might end up having a beef with Ben Davis. -

New Conference Name

But that’s not actually what you’ve advocated for. You’ve stated that the Hot Dogs should join the HHC countless times, and in each you never opined to keep the Sagamore name. -

Muda you’ve been screaming for over a decade that Frankfort should leave the Sagamore, and now that they have you are complaining about that. After 20 years of listening to you I think it might actually be possible that you just like to complain, and that you dont actually care about the issues you rage against. 😜 -

Strong choice, I like it. -
He is 72 so I get it. But damn. You could always count on his clubs setting the bar. Bama made college football better. Interesting to see who fills that void in college football. And who will replace him at Bama, tough tough situation.

It’s not really that amazing Bob, most people don’t actually want an explanation, they want the drama.

The p/p hegemony continues unabated
CoachGallogly replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The purpose of the success factor was to account to a degree to the differences beyond enrollment. Since it was implemented we’ve seen a greater variety of winners at the sectional level on up. And any complaints lodged have come from both public and private school supporters so I’d say it’s accomplished its mission. -

They don’t have to share everything in common to have some things in common. -

Every school has strengths and weaknesses. Some more of one than the other. No two private schools are the same, just as no two public schools are the same. There is a long list of factors that lead to success. No question private schools have a higher winning percentage in the postseason than what you’d expect based on quantity. But it might be because the average private school is better suited to check off factors on that list. That doesn’t equate however to all private schools excelling simply because of their p/p designation, and it also doesn’t prohibit public schools from achieving those standards based on their designation. The trick is to see what the good public and good private schools have in common and compare it to what the struggling public and private schools have in common. -
Want to reduce college football Bowl opt-outs? Pay the players
CoachGallogly replied to Muda69's topic in The Next Level
We are headed down the path of contracts for college athletes. This will reduce the opt outs. The bigger issue is the portal window opening before the bowl games. The opt outs are a much smaller piece of the pie than the portal players. -
It’s pretty obvious if you watch the wider version that the white hat makes eye contact with 70 running on and the white hat even points at 70 70 said he didn’t report. I believe that to be true. 68 also said he said one single word “report” I also believe this to be true. but the timing here is where we can see plausibly what happens. 70 runs on like he had other times directly at the white hat instead of the huddle (this is important) the white hat sees him, jumps the gun and begins to go tell the cowboys when 68 and 58 impede his path. 68 says “report” and the white hat likely thought “yeah I already know buddy I see 70 coming in” and didn’t process that 68 was reporting himself. White hat continues on his path and informs cowboys of 70.
-
If you watch the video the white hat had already recognized 70 and began to move to announce him before 68 gets to the white hat.
-
I think something that has been lost in this is 70 had reported previously in the game as eligible as a 6th lineman. When watching the film the white hat is looking at 70 and even points to him as 68 is talking to him. A reasonable scenario here is that 68 said “report” the White Hat saw 70 a few yards away sprinting in and made the assumption 68 was just relaying for 70 again. 68 didn’t say “68 reports” or “I report”. Then the white hat announces publicly 70 is eligible. This mistake is on the white hat but also the Lions. The Lions attempted to confuse, and they did. They also did not call attention to the call of 70 being announced because they were hoping that’s exactly what the Cowboys would think. The crew got it wrong. But the Lions set it up that way.

Or it could be you feel they way because there are no 5A and 6A private schools. -
Nana’s wins are more impressive than FSU, and their depth of schedule is tougher. There really isn’t a leg to stand on. All 13-0’s are not equal.
-
This is my guess too.

The BD catch obviously would’ve been fixed, but I’d be a little cautious about thinking replay will be as effective as you see on Saturdays and Sundays. Michigan uses replay for its finals, and used it roughly a dozen times over the weekend. From my seat I thought they ended up getting half the calls wrong after replay because they had a poor assortment of angles to look at. Just my humble opinion.

DOE Enrollments 22-23

The consolidation of districts doesn’t require the consolidation of schools. In many cases it wouldn’t make sense. Or districts combined with three HS might turn into two HS etc. -
SOME LCC FOOTBALL HISTORY
CoachGallogly replied to Tippy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
LCC has certainly had an up and down history, but is currently on an exceptionally long run of good-great seasons. Interesting note future University of Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster was just 11-11 at LCC.
