  1. I did not know that until I read this morning....Pepperdine. Incredibly sad.....what a personality.
  2. Looks like former IU player Dasan McCullough lands with his brother Daeh in Norman, OK. Surprises me a little...thought at least one of the boys would end up with Dad at ND. https://247sports.com/college/oklahoma/Article/Oklahoma-Sooners-football-recruiting-Daeh-McCullough-Dasan-McCullough-Deland-McCullough-transfer-portal-Jay-Valai-Brent-Venables-Indiana-Hoosiers-Cincinnati-Bearcats-200102132/
  3. I was just reading that Niumatalolo was fired while still at Lincoln Federal Field in Philly. He didn't even get a chance to return back to Annapolis and discuss the future. He was on the staff for 25 years, 15 as a head coach. No way to treat the all time winningest coach in your program. Shame on the Navy Athletic Administration.
  4. I hear your argument coach....not sure if its an absolute ideal comparison. Is it identical between a professional and a student? Perhaps there should be more accountability for coaches that don't honor their contracts. No one made them sign longer term deals with guarantees. It is an interesting discussion. Transfer portal and NIL has made college sports more of a minor league system than it was before. Is that truly better for the sport? NIL and the portal is making it so much harder on the military academies to compete....and they were already at an extreme disadvantage due to admission requirements.
  5. For anyone that didn't see the beginning of the 123rd rivalry game between the Army Black Knights and the Navy Midshipman, I attached a link below. The intro video that featured 8 families, game prayer, national anthem by the combined glee clubs, fly overs and the teams running out on the field is something else. No other game in college football is like this one. The parents featured on the CBS video hit me square in the heart every time I watch this because its really close to home. Our son and DIL are both US Army officers...with our son "currently off the grid" completing some very challenging training for combat readiness....their emotions hit me straight in the heart. God bless our brave men and women serving our country, and special prayers to our finest that won't be home with family this holiday season. Go Army....Beat Navy!!
  6. Donnie....you ok buddy??? What happened? https://fox59.com/news/indycrime/bob-tom-comedian-donnie-baker-victim-of-shots-fired-incident/
  7. I was very surprised that Coach Ken Niumatalolo was fired as the Navy football coach following the Army Navy game. I thought John Feinstein hit the nail on the head with his editorial in the WAPO. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/12/12/navy-coach-fired-army-navy/ Coach Ken gave 25 years of his life to Navy...15 of those years as a head coach. He is the all time winningest coach in Navy football history. The last 3 years have been rough, but this team was showing significant improvement at the end of the season and 18-22 starters he and his staff brought to Navy were returning next year. Also, with Cincy, Houston, and Central Florida departures, the AAC conference gets much easier next year. The Navy athletic brass I believe errored putting Navy in that conference in the first place with the odds stacked against them. As any service academy, they cannot recruit the transfer portal, they cannot extend NIL opportunities, not to mention the extremely tough academic and admittance requirements. IU fired their all-time winningest coach in program history (Bill Mallory) in 1996 as they thought they could do better. How's that worked out for them since? The Navy AD overreacted to a tough Army Navy game loss that could have went either way and treated a loyal long-time classy school representative extremely poorly. The same coach (Morman in faith) that rejected the head coach offer from BYU just a few years ago to stay at the Naval Academy.
  8. Not sure what to believe at this point. Some reports indicated a massive heart attack and some reports even that he passed last night. Sounds like Coach Leach needs all of our prayers
  9. Yet he hasn't provided a name...I know someone who was there and he said...... Well, consider the case closed. Congratulations you have an opinion....as does the free world. You have no idea how I feel, so stop representing me and others on GID. Speak for yourself and yourself only. Can you do that?
  10. Since you didn't make the comment, you have zero idea of his meaning. Previously, the same person quoted that a RB carried the Roncalli team, getting half of their wins on his own. Then he makes the comment about the lineman perhaps not being as good as thought. Those comments connect. It did not seem he meant his comment as a compliment. But perhaps you can stop speaking for him and he can clarify his position. He's a grown man. I took it for the comment it was. I don't care who made the comment on GID or their history....and I don't buy the "I have a source in the room as proof, but cannot name him". Sorry, you can believe all you want and since it meets your narrative, I assume you will. I don't really care what you do....CG has a history of some kids winning awards and other kids just as deserving that didn't earn them. Interesting now how CG coaching is now able to influence awards, giving them to the undeserving. That's pure hogwash. You believe how you want to believe....I have no help for you.
  11. To add to Muda's source...now ESPN reporting..... https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35204000/sources-jeff-brohm-leaves-purdue-job-coach-louisville
  12. Obtuse? Someone has been watching Shawshank Redemption reruns lately.....LOL I think you got the point...awards aren't always handed out to the leading stat guy in any sport...period. Sorry you are disappointed....
  13. Can you provide proof of this? Actual proof? You do know, CG has been disappointed many times with kids they felt deserving not earn an award right?
  14. oh jeesh.....now you are resorting to throwing teammates under the bus. It was bad enough when you stated one player carried the team to half of their victories, as that totally diminishes the TEAM. Any RB would tell you his success is dependent on the line in front of him opening holes. This game always had and will always be won on the LOS. And I say that as a former skills player and having a son as a skills player. Serious question....did you ever play the game? I ask, because some of your comments that completely ignore the concept of TEAM absolutely confuse me.
  15. I have no idea what rules were in place with Yeast was a senior. He did win the RB position award. Was it required to be Mr. Football? You tell me.... Love your passion....well, kind of.... You are an emotional fella...will give you that.....
  16. Question for you? Does every Heisman winning RB always lead the nation in rushing and TD's? Same for the Doak Walker award? Does every Heisman winning QB always lead the nation in passing yardage, passing TD's, etc.? Same for the Davey O'Brien award? Is it truly only about pure stats? If it were, it would make it very simple and it would take any guess out of the award. We could throw out different levels of competition, impact to the team, etc. Just stats....nothing else. Sounds a tad boring and also not an accurate assessment of the best player at the position...but to each his own. I am going to say this again...I think they are both terrific players that had terrific years. I have been disappointed before when it comes to awards. As I continue to age, I realize that awards don't define anyone and I bet both young men would give them up in a New York minute to wear that blue medal around their neck. Congratulations to both young men....they are both more than worthy of the award.
  17. I think it less about me getting caught up in language than you obviously being upset about the outcome. Do it right? I didn't agree with the Yeast decision, but I also have some faith in people that dedicate themselves to this great game to cast votes that they believe in with a degree of solid basis. Are they as smart as you or I? Well, in my case, I would say they are. I'll let you decide about you for yourself.
  18. Thanks...I do know the difference between the 2 awards. My point is that you were downplaying Yeast not winning Mr. Football and that's not right. The comment about Gatorade Player of the Year recognition illustrates he was more than deserving of the Mr. Indiana Football award. There is no need to compare, other than both decisions were disappointing for many. Period. One is not worse than the other. You and I have a different definition for the word "travesty". Not receiving an award doesn't fit my definition of travesty. If it fits yours, consider yourself very, very fortunate.
  19. We shall absolutely agree to disagree with that comment. Yeast was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, but lost votes for Mr. Football (not position player) because he was a one year Indiana high school player...even though the award is for a senior year only. None of these are "travesties"....but downplaying one issue over another isn't right either.
  20. I’m following…. But who got more free lunches?? That’s what really matters!!
  21. Then consider more of criticizing the process....why does one have be the best at a given position to be considered the best OVERALL player in the state? I didn't agree with the Russ Yeast decision for Mr. Football a few years ago. Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, but runner up to Mr. Football. Even though its supposed to be a senior award, Yeast being a one year player in the state really impacted voting. Why? I have no idea. Only the people that voted can tell you why they voted like they did
