  1. Yet he hasn't provided a name...I know someone who was there and he said...... Well, consider the case closed. Congratulations you have an opinion....as does the free world. You have no idea how I feel, so stop representing me and others on GID. Speak for yourself and yourself only. Can you do that?
  2. Since you didn't make the comment, you have zero idea of his meaning. Previously, the same person quoted that a RB carried the Roncalli team, getting half of their wins on his own. Then he makes the comment about the lineman perhaps not being as good as thought. Those comments connect. It did not seem he meant his comment as a compliment. But perhaps you can stop speaking for him and he can clarify his position. He's a grown man. I took it for the comment it was. I don't care who made the comment on GID or their history....and I don't buy the "I have a source in the room as proof, but cannot name him". Sorry, you can believe all you want and since it meets your narrative, I assume you will. I don't really care what you do....CG has a history of some kids winning awards and other kids just as deserving that didn't earn them. Interesting now how CG coaching is now able to influence awards, giving them to the undeserving. That's pure hogwash. You believe how you want to believe....I have no help for you.
  3. To add to Muda's source...now ESPN reporting..... https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35204000/sources-jeff-brohm-leaves-purdue-job-coach-louisville
  4. Obtuse? Someone has been watching Shawshank Redemption reruns lately.....LOL I think you got the point...awards aren't always handed out to the leading stat guy in any sport...period. Sorry you are disappointed....
  5. Can you provide proof of this? Actual proof? You do know, CG has been disappointed many times with kids they felt deserving not earn an award right?
  6. oh jeesh.....now you are resorting to throwing teammates under the bus. It was bad enough when you stated one player carried the team to half of their victories, as that totally diminishes the TEAM. Any RB would tell you his success is dependent on the line in front of him opening holes. This game always had and will always be won on the LOS. And I say that as a former skills player and having a son as a skills player. Serious question....did you ever play the game? I ask, because some of your comments that completely ignore the concept of TEAM absolutely confuse me.
  7. I have no idea what rules were in place with Yeast was a senior. He did win the RB position award. Was it required to be Mr. Football? You tell me.... Love your passion....well, kind of.... You are an emotional fella...will give you that.....
  8. Question for you? Does every Heisman winning RB always lead the nation in rushing and TD's? Same for the Doak Walker award? Does every Heisman winning QB always lead the nation in passing yardage, passing TD's, etc.? Same for the Davey O'Brien award? Is it truly only about pure stats? If it were, it would make it very simple and it would take any guess out of the award. We could throw out different levels of competition, impact to the team, etc. Just stats....nothing else. Sounds a tad boring and also not an accurate assessment of the best player at the position...but to each his own. I am going to say this again...I think they are both terrific players that had terrific years. I have been disappointed before when it comes to awards. As I continue to age, I realize that awards don't define anyone and I bet both young men would give them up in a New York minute to wear that blue medal around their neck. Congratulations to both young men....they are both more than worthy of the award.
  9. I think it less about me getting caught up in language than you obviously being upset about the outcome. Do it right? I didn't agree with the Yeast decision, but I also have some faith in people that dedicate themselves to this great game to cast votes that they believe in with a degree of solid basis. Are they as smart as you or I? Well, in my case, I would say they are. I'll let you decide about you for yourself.
  10. Thanks...I do know the difference between the 2 awards. My point is that you were downplaying Yeast not winning Mr. Football and that's not right. The comment about Gatorade Player of the Year recognition illustrates he was more than deserving of the Mr. Indiana Football award. There is no need to compare, other than both decisions were disappointing for many. Period. One is not worse than the other. You and I have a different definition for the word "travesty". Not receiving an award doesn't fit my definition of travesty. If it fits yours, consider yourself very, very fortunate.
  11. We shall absolutely agree to disagree with that comment. Yeast was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, but lost votes for Mr. Football (not position player) because he was a one year Indiana high school player...even though the award is for a senior year only. None of these are "travesties"....but downplaying one issue over another isn't right either.
  12. I’m following…. But who got more free lunches?? That’s what really matters!!
  13. Then consider more of criticizing the process....why does one have be the best at a given position to be considered the best OVERALL player in the state? I didn't agree with the Russ Yeast decision for Mr. Football a few years ago. Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, but runner up to Mr. Football. Even though its supposed to be a senior award, Yeast being a one year player in the state really impacted voting. Why? I have no idea. Only the people that voted can tell you why they voted like they did
  14. I’m not discussing awards vs any other player. Been down that road before. No matter the debate, nothing changes. I just don’t buy Roncalli is a .500 team without him. That’s all.
  15. We agree the young man is an outstanding player. We don't agree that Roncalli is simply an average team without him.
  16. Following the "best OL in the state"....not sure I buy that Roncalli has no other horses in the stable....that Hansen alone pulled in half of Roncalli's wins. Outstanding football player....but your comment would insinuate he put the team on his shoulders and carried them....yea....I am going to give Roncalli's roster and coaching staff more credit than your comment.
  17. And the hits keep on coming…..
  18. Bama lost 2 games...beat Texas by 1 (TCU beat them by 7), beat a 5-7 Texas A&M team only by 4 at home, and beat Ole Miss by 6. The game they lost to Tenn, Bama gave up 52 points. This was not one of Bama's finest years and I am just fine they are on the outside looking in. Had to chuckle at Saban's argument they won their last 3...yes it was their last 3 because they lost to LSU before to cap the streak at 3. Those 3 teams were Ole Miss (solid team), Auburn (bad year...they fired their coach) and Austin Peay (FCS school). That was not an impressive winning streak.
  19. Coach, you going to be at the Oil Can tonight??
  20. After last night, no one now. I think the BCS higher ups are hoping for a TCU loss so they can move Bama back into the 4. I think OSU now definitely in......Bama also if TCU loses
  21. That would be a very unimpressive loss
  22. Serious question....a Purdue upset could cost the Big 10 conference some serious cash if the result pushed Michigan out of the top 4. Is it safe to say, the big wigs in the Big 10 office are UM fans Saturday??
  23. I am not sure college success is the validation for Mr. Football. After all, Kiser's main competition that year David Bell had a fantastic college career and is now in the NFL. Not sure about Top 5 college programs in America comment. I guess some years....not this one. If college careers were a validation of Mr. Football, Russ Yeast should really be pissed, being nudged out by a QB that only started a few games during their college career. Yeast, the recipient of the Gatorade Player of the Year in Indiana had a very good college career at Louisville and Kansas State, and is now playing for the Rams. Also earned his BS and MS degrees while in school.
