I wasn't registering a position on the portal...just providing a listing of IU portal activity. Unfortunately, its now become the norm for D1 FBS football. Would love to see a rule requiring the player to sit out a year unless his head coach left the program. Also, would love to see the portal closed until the season is fully complete.

I think you throw Miami out of the college coaching equation....not an apple to apple comparison. He's not the only college coach not to excel at the level...Spurrier, Devine, Kush, Fairbanks all quickly come to mind. (Fairbanks did have a winning record during his NFL tenure) This is where Harbaugh does deserve a ton of credit...he's one of the few that has made the transition between pro and college and has excelled. Saban was only at Miami for 2 years, and didn't have much of a QB...an we all know that's essential at that level. I think it was him (could be wrong) that gave up on Drew Brees....and that was a huge mistake. Saban inherited a MSU that was in bad shape in 1995. Had not had a winning season since 1990, and experienced NCAA recruiting sanctions from the previous coach. While not a juggernaut by any definition, he did get them into bowl games in 3 of his 5 seasons, knocked off #1 Ohio State in 1998, and took the Spartans to a 9-2 record in his final season. Obviously he made impressions, as LSU snatched him up and later won his first championship. I would consider his MSU experience a success as he had to rebuild a program that was down, and as we all know, the formula back then for rebuilds very different than today.

The sad part is it doesn't matter if they clean house, as long as Irsay continues his trend of hiring first time head GM's who hire first time head coaches. Irsay has to get his hands out of trying to control people, write checks and get out of the way. They were an incredible franchise with Polian and Dungy. But Polian would tell Jimmy what he could do with his thoughts and Jimmy doesn't like that. Until Irsay remembers what a winning formula looks like, it will never get much better.

Leaders get what they demand…. If you have a team with players showing up late to work, that’s on him. As Pat stated, great teams hold each other accountable and it starts with him. How much does he own? That’s very debatable…but the buck typically stops with the man at the top.

I am not sure what to make of the back issue. I do know Kenny Pickett, backup QB for the Eagles played his game with broken ribs...took a shot prior to the game and at halftime. No way he was going to let his team down. Miles and miles of heart.....

I too stayed up for that one with work the next morning. That was history I could not miss. So excited with the outcome I could hardly fall asleep after the game. I would do that again in a heartbeat! Well worth the lack of sleep that night!!!

I am sure you don't...I am sure you have a very selective memory when it comes to TWICE making references about my wife and Coach Harbaugh. That is EXACTLY why you got a PM from me. I let it go the first time....the second time is when you heard from me. I tried to keep this between you and I, but you continue to decide to share a very partial story with the forum. You eventually responded privately to me admitting you went to far...there is very much a history of that exchange. Your comments about Bob were way out of line...but its repeated behavior...I guess its to be expected.

Totally agree...I really like both Coach Monken and Coach Newberry. Seems like they are perfect fits for the academies.
