  1. Interesting data…..from this article… ARMANDO SALGUERO: BRIAN FLORES CLAIMS RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN NFL HIRING PRACTICES, SO LET’S EXAMINE HIS HIRING PRACTICES Flores had 20 coaches on his 2021 coaching staff, with 15 of those white and five black. Flores hired four offensive coordinators during his time with the Dolphins, including co-coordinators in 2021. Three of those four are white. Flores hired four offensive line coaches during his tenure, and three of those four are white. Flores hired two defensive coordinators during his time as head coach, one black and one white. Flores hired four quarterback or assistant quarterback coaches during his three years, and three of those four are white, with Jim Caldwell the only exception. Caldwell, it should be noted, worked under Flores for a couple of months but departed before the 2019 season began, citing health issues. Flores hired one special teams coordinator during his time as coach, that being Danny Crossman, who is white. I think that’s quite a theory that tanking is racially motivated. That would demand proof/facts.
  2. I understand and read about this. I see 2 separate but equally concerning issues that demand investigation. I just was trying to understand the post that focused on tanking. I don’t see tanking as a racial issue.
  3. Totally agree, but is “tanking” race driven? While completely wrong and destroys integrity of the game, (if proven) wouldn’t an owner done same with a coach regardless of his skin color? Guess I’m not seeing the correlation, but open to be educated.
  4. Feels like a USFL or Arena football team name....... I like this logo....
  5. Good for him. I thought he might end up a South Dakota State Jackrabbit like his Dad. but the young man is blazing his own trail!!
  6. What a classy, fierce competitor. His retirement words....wow. Well done TB....legend!
  7. His oldest son transferred from Miami of Ohio to join his Dad at IU. Middle son just enrolled for the spring semester at IU and youngest son still at Bloomington South is an IU verbal. My guess is that the middle and youngest sons will flip. (both 4 stars) Huge loss for IU on the field and I am guessing with the family culture.
  8. Couldn't that be said for a number of NFL middle linebackers past and present? Doesn't mean they weren't dominate at their position. you said it better than me....I am not in agreement with the Butkus comment, but overall, totally agree
  9. He didn't do it on his own....and because the NFL was so very different and didn't depend on the QB nearly as much as today, I struggle with your rationale. Heck, if you go back and look at his history, most seasons he shared the starting duties. He did win the MVP one of his years, and did go into the HOF in 1965, so I can see where you make the argument. I agree that timeframe was different than today....but he much has tossed it around a little to be the all-time Bears leader in interceptions thrown.
  10. Luckman only threw for more than 2000 yds twice and is the all time Bear's leader with interceptions thrown.......still holds that record. (132)
  11. How in the world can you leave Bob Avellini off that list?? Erik Kramer or Jim Miller??
  12. Maybe the mascot and team nickname change drove him away........😜
  13. Awesome to see good things for the former Indiana high school stars.
  14. One of the most talented teams in NFL history with a legend D coordinator. Ditka is great...but not sure he replaces Sayers on the greatest Bears of all time.
  15. I don't know RebelDad or the Roncalli Horde. The Roncalli folks I know are all excellent people. While we may see this issue through different lenses, I understand how you feel and salute the convictions you use to help your family manage risk. I do have a legitimate question that I am hoping you can help me understand. If you are so adamant against football until the age of 18 in the name of safety, why are you so vocal and spend so much time on a high school football forum? I have read your numerous posts pertaining to high school football that have nothing to do with safety and it would seem that you are very interested and motivated by the high school game. It seems that you spend time on both sides of the fence. Godspeed and have a wonderful weekend. Buzz Killington
  16. I am sure he is an excellent doctor. Is he a neurologist? And if so, does he have experience with large studies focusing on concussion injuries with youth? If so, please direct me to his work. I absolutely will read. I work with some tremendous chemical engineers routinely. They are masters at their craft...excellent engineers. But I would not want them designing a suspension bridge over a large body of water. I think a good civil/structural engineer is a far better choice, don't you? Just because one is a MD, doesn't make them an expert of every medical issue. That is why there are specialists for a given area of medicine. But if you wish to accept his views, more power to you. It doesn't mean everyone else with a different view is wrong.
  17. I can't see that....maybe they will follow the Big 12 model. I believe they simply pick the top 2 teams from the regular season conference play.
  18. I actually review real studies Muda...not just accept the opinion of one individual. But I do understand it easy to accept one opinion only as gospel, if that opinion just happens to align with one's own thoughts. But other than a single opinion, present some real facts if you want to get people's attention. I think most of this forum are every bit as qualified as you to assess risk and make the right decisions for our family. But again, you do you. Lead your family as you see fit...others I am sure will do the same.
  19. I know these sources are too long to read for you, but based upon data, flag football, along with girls soccer, hockey, wrestling and cheerleading should also be banned.....if one follows your line of logic. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5305025/#:~:text=There are approximately 2.8 million, and 43 per 1000 exposures. https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/15/health/concussion-high-school-sports-study/index.html Note, this neurologist feels differently than your doctor friend and his wife https://nortonhealthcare.com/news/sport-with-most-concussions-high-school/ I realize that no study data is ever going to change your mind. You are not open on this issue. So make a risk based decision that is best for your family and respect that other parents can do the same.
