  1. Dang cheap boosters!!!!
  2. I think Temp's comment was about Urban's past behavior...at least as reported out there on the internet.....
  3. I appreciate the excitement about IU....loved what I witnessed Sat night. BUT, history would tell us to approach the season with some degree of skepticism. One game at a time...next team up is Charlotte.
  4. That is the most fun I've had watching an IU football game on TV in a long time. I really like what Cignetti is doing in his short time in Btown. Very different mentality. Go Hoosiers!
  5. You are right...some classic BD vs CG games at Giants stadium over the years!! I wasn't sure about Carmel vs Trinity....Trinity could not have been happy with a 2 TD loss at home to CG the week before...a ton of pride on the line. Warren D looks incredible....will be interesting how they play when facing a top tier offense. But they have the players and look right now unstoppable on D.
  6. Had an Indiana high school buddy to swim collegiately at the University of Wyoming. He never came home...made his home and life in the west....even though he married an Indiana hometown girl. Brought back some memories....years ago, I had a short-term work project in Casper Wyoming. Loved to get the sports page and typically the front cover was rodeo. 7 on 7 football also got some attention as well, but rodeo was king.
  7. I seem to remember using the term as "culture" at CG why they stopped playing them in sports...and we have seen over time, Carmel is playing CG in a number of sports...just not the "big ones" to include football, basketball and baseball. Not sure if "culture" can be used with a straight-face....for the 2nd year in a row, (3rd overall) CG has earned one of the 20 high school sportsmanship awards from the IHSAA. Congrats Trojans and all schools earning this outstanding recognition. Center Grove HS earns third IHSAA Sportsmanship Award | Local News Digital
  8. Not saying I disagree, but isn't this the existing Big East model for hoops? Butler, Xavier, Creighton, Georgetown, St. Johns, Villanova, Marquette, DePaul, etc? Many of them have football programs, but they are smaller (most FCS) and compete in different conferences. Before the mainly the ACC (also Big 10 and Big 12) raided the Big East, I remember when they used to have major football schools. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_East_Conference_(1979–2013) Football expansion [edit] About a decade after the conference's inception, Big East members decided to become a major football conference and thus added five schools including Rutgers, Miami, Temple, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia – though only Miami would be offered full all-sports membership immediately. The inaugural Big East football season launched in 1991.[10] West Virginia and Rutgers were offered admission to the Big East as full members starting in the 1995–96 academic year,[11] and Notre Dame, committed to its football independence, was offered a non-football membership effective the same year.[12] Virginia Tech would be forced to wait until 2000–01 for full admission,[13] and Temple remained a football-only member until 2004, when it was voted out of the conference due to poor attendance figures, lack of playing success, and inadequate facilities.[14]
  9. interesting article from the AP about passing overall in the NFL week 1. https://apnews.com/article/nfl-quarterbacks-0a1b51e3dc3d77c1f813527becc93268 Kind of an interesting facts about Caleb William's first NFL game in which the writer labeled the Bears game in week 1 as a rare win. Crazy stat about first pick QB's first start loss streak. Joins some pretty good company with Elway. (looking for the positives!!) Rare win The Bears somehow managed to win despite a rough debut for Williams, who went 14 for 29 for 93 yards and didn’t lead the offense on a single TD drive in a 24-17 win over Tennessee. Williams became the first QB picked first overall to win his first career start since David Carr did it for the expansion Houston Texans against Dallas in 2002. No. 1 picks had been 0-14-1 in their first starts since then, with Kyler Murray getting the tie in 2019. Williams’ 93 yards passing were the fewest by a No. 1 pick quarterback who started the opener since John Elway had 14 for Denver against Pittsburgh in 1983.
  10. Had friends lose their mother recently due to Covid at 68 years of age. She did have some serious pre-existing conditions. But surprised me to hear this....
  11. Hope you feel better quickly!!
  12. I also was a little surprised to see IU is a slight favorite. First time IU and UCLA have squared off on the gridiron. Read a good article today how excellent the fan travel is looking for all Big 10 schools traveling to LA and Pasadena this season. The article featured IU, Iowa and Minnesota. Indicated in Iowa, demand so significant that American has scheduled a round trip direct flight from to LA from Cedar Rapids. https://www.iowasportstours.com/iowa-vs-ucla
  13. Lots out there on his injury now, but looks like still the plan to start Sat. Injury is to his non-throwing shoulder. Right now indicates he full go at practice. I would think the backup is getting more snaps with the first team this week.
  14. Good idea Coach....maybe the teacher would also have educated a simple guy like me that jokes and insults are synonyms.....😉 I thought the WalMart Wolverine was a little funny...perhaps my sense of humor is warped!! Guess its time for me to grow up and take GID way more seriously!!!!!!
  15. this is a reference in this document that points to a study....have not yet found the study...so not sure the accuracy on the claim. This document looks like the high school level, so not sure the focus of level of play regarding this claimed study. Special Teams are one of the most important and overlooked aspect of football gameplan and practice. A study has been done that shows that if a team scores a touchdown on special teams that team will win the game 85 percent of the time. It is our goal to be the very best on special teams that we can. We must be solid in the kicking game so we can score points, flip the field, and have the potential to make big plays. https://coachcompton.weebly.com/special-teams.html
  16. LOL...it was a joke about the WalMart Wolverine....a joke...nothing more. Not meant to be an insult and sorry you took it that way. The reason for the joke was your constant and passionate defense of UM in your responses to others who mentioned Michigan's performance last week. There is only one person acting pissed....and its not me. Memo to self...no more jokes about Wolverine fans....its simply not worth it.
  17. Most people would consider sexual references to wives off the table on this forum. Just basic common sense and quality of character. Even more so when one does this without looking at the individual face to face. That being said, athough I wouldn't equate a joking "WalMart Wolverine" reference as the same, you apparently do. In any case, please accept the apology and move on. This is rather boring and I am sure others don't care to have their time wasted.
  18. Walmart Wolverine was personal?? OK....my apologies.
  19. Which I find ironic that the NFL would make a viewing choice that they know excludes many from having access to their product. Doesn't seem to fit with their message I see on so many of their fields pertaining to inclusion.....perhaps its something else that is more important to the NFL??????
  20. But you did choose to respond to EVERY comment...you could have simply ignored. BTW, my comment had NOTHING to do with UM football....I think you know that....
  21. You're right...it is a ND thread....in which YOU are talking and defending Michigan....here's some advice.....let it go..... You respond to EVERY comment about Michigan...the great defender. Hilarious to read honestly. Start a new conversation for next week. UM plays Arkansas State at home. I like their odds.
  22. Temp...the ultimate Walmart Wolverine!!
  23. CG had the aerial show working against Trinity in the 2 TD win. Soph Drake McClurg had 11 catches for 238 yds, breaking the single game receiving yds record set in 2016 by NFLer Russ Yeast.
  24. Not sure why some sports and not others.... With Carmel, it looks like football, basketball, baseball and softball....at least over the past year. But not sure why. With Warren, looks like everything, except boys and girls basketball. I do remember WC playing CG in JV/frosh football not long ago. https://www.centergrovefootball.com/game/game_sheet/36304675
