  1. IMO McGrew is the 2nd best RB in the SIAC, behind only Schutte from Central. Both are very tough runners who are like tackling bowling balls. Lannert is one of the fastest guys in SIAC. I've seen a few Linton games (Boonville, ND, Providence and maybe Sullivan early on but can't remember that one). I did not see the Southridge game. I think MD will likely be the best team Linton has seen that can run and pass. Has Linton played on turf this season? As MDAlum82 says, sit in the bowl, not the visitor bleachers. The view is much better from the curve or behind the goal post.
  2. I think MD will beat Linton I get it. I think MD will beat Linton by 3-4 scores. I've watched several Linton games on the IHSAA TV network and I think they will have trouble stopping MD and MD has a stout D. But I thought Bosse would beat North Harrison, so what the heck do I know? Central should have no problem with Jasper, unless they play the way they did against Reitz in the first half. Memorial needs to get the O on track. The D has been pretty solid all year.
  3. Caught the replay of BC/Brebeuf on the IHSAA network Saturday. Trojans look solid. The game against WL will be a doozy. I hope it is on TV replay.
  4. I would be surprised if that were the case. I expect MD, Central, and Memorial to all advance in very competitive games.
  5. Is the player okay?
  6. I’ll take MD and the points! Should be a great game.
  7. John Harrell has Linton as the favorite.
  8. The kid who was suspended last week played last night.
  9. Clearly the Bulldogs laid an egg and would likely have been blown out by Heritage Hills without Brady and Edelman, and probably a few others. Score probably would have been 42-7 or worse...
  10. But if it's raining.....
  11. Anyone taking North tonight? Anyone hearing chatter from First Avenue?
  12. IHSAA may have changed it from counting home games to counting away games. Makes sense in brackets with byes I guess.
  13. Not sure I get your point. What "so many schools"? It sure seems to me the SIAC has 8 great coaches right now. I don't see how you call the SIAC a disappointment. Five schools have a chance to split the title (although I don't think it will happen that way). And the overall quality is as good as previous years. Central and Memorial are not as good as last year, but they were both state finalists. That's a pretty high bar. Castle, MD, Bosse and North are all better. Reitz may be down, but they've been pretty good the past few years. Harrison has struggled, but that is a tough gig and I hear the coach is holding kids accountable, which to me is the right way to turn a program around.
  14. LOL. if you meet him before the game, don't expect a lot of jovial banter. Mike gets pretty intense, to say the least. I remember a few years back I said "good luck Mike" as they were getting off the bus at Enlow and he said "You don't mean that" and kept walking. It was pretty funny.
  15. Yep. I think the Northview-Jasper game will be the best one of the 1st Round.
  16. A perfect reason why the "Success Factor " cycle should be 4 years. Just think what the S32 and S40 brackets would look like with Memorial in 3A and Southridge in 2A.
  17. Sadly, with Memorial and Southridge getting bumped up, most of the questions won't get answered this year because the PAC & SIAC won't meet in the tournament. No Memorial v. GS or HH. No Southridge v. MD. Kind of stinks in terms of GID banter, but a couple of questions will get answered this Friday.
  18. Are we convinced the number of D1 players produced is really the proper measure? GS, Southridge, Central and Memorial have all had a lot of very good teams recently, but I don't recall more than a few D1 players. Those schools have all had a good number of kids play D2, D3, NAIA, not to mention other rare and worthwhile pursuits (studying for seminary, attending service academies, etc.). You sure seem to have an odd fixation, which is surprising considering Lindauer was a great 3 sport player and even better kid. Plus, he was a big part of a lot of kids getting state championship rings and having memories that will last a long time. And by the way, we still have a pretty good QB.... No disagreement with that statement. That is the beauty of HS football.
  19. If Central and Memorial were to meet again, I'm pretty sure the game would be at Central, now Enlow.
  20. You also have to remember t Probably more than just 1-2 teams on MD's schedule who are better than what Linton has played. The only teams on MD's schedule I would categorize as not competitive are Whiting and Ev. Harrison. MD just ended a 5 game SIAC stretch with Memorial, Ev. North, Castle, Ev. Bosse and Ev. Central. To come out of that with 3 Ws is very impressive. If you haven't seen Central, then I think it would be hard to really understand how impressive it was for MD to hold them to 7 points and pull out the W on a last second FG. MD is tough, will not beat themselves and they are much better this year than last year. It will take a heck of a team to beat them in 2A South.
  21. I suppose I choose to believe the players and coaches give full effort regardless of whether the outcome decides a team's playoff fate. Would Cathedral's players and coaches have given more effort or done anything differently if beating Elder or St. X meant they qualified for the IHSAA playoffs and losing meant they didn't? Would more fans have made the trip?
  22. I get it. I just don't think it makes those games any better.
  23. HH over Corydon. GS over Salem. Southridge over Mt. Vernon. Bosse over N. Harrison. HH @ GS. I'll take HH again but GS will be much closer this time. Southridge @ Bosse. Bulldogs in the upset. HH over Bosse. Bosse is 2-3 players away from beating a team like HH. Patriots will wear them down. _____________ @PAC FAN - GS is on the marquee, but winning state and being runner-up (and beating 2 Indy p/p along the way) makes Memorial the headliner of the show in 3A South.
  24. I know nothing about the fan bases for Lawrence North and Pike. How many fans has Lawrence North had for their 8 games up to now? I suspect about that many will show up this week for their Wk. 9 game and about that same amount would show up this week if a playoff spot was on the line.
