Gibson Southern is $5 but honestly, I was just thinking about how that price is truly too cheap in today’s game. I wouldn’t be shocked to see schools putting a $10 a ticket tag up. Inflation…cost of equipment and people’s time…we could definitely be paying more to the refs to help get away from the shortage of them.

I didn’t even realize Linton was 0-5 in this series….they definitely don’t play like it. this is probably one of my more favorite week 1 matchups in indiana. Just 2 great programs playing each other to the wire

It’s weird not seeing the “6’3 300lb NT” for our DL…especially since GS is going to a 4-3 defense this group looks to be slightly smaller than in years past but more explosive

The scores were worse than the actual play. Part of the problem last year though was that 1) we had like nine new starters on defense (this year we return seven) and 2) Covid offseason really hurt the team. The offseason 7on7 schedule for the team gives the offense and defense hundreds of reps when it comes to route timing and also our defensive coverage. I think this year will be a much different game and a very competitive one at that

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Columbus North, 1-0 LAST MEETING: Columbus North, 48-6, Aug. 21, 2020. I haven’t seen anyone post about this game. Should be a big one with 2 great teams trying to start their seasons off on the right foot.

1 special run could also help jump start a program look at Gibson Southern. Before Coach Hart we had never even won a sectional in football….but that 2012 season we managed to win back to back OT games over Vincennes and Memorial to capture our first sectional title. Coach Hart is an amazing coach don’t get me wrong, but even he credits that first year where the team bought in and came together to the jump start of the program. sometimes all you need is a little momentum. Looking forward to seeing Washington and other teams try to make that next step and maybe bring home some hardware

A lot of good matchups don’t really have any predictions except that I’m hoping for a strong GS victory. Don’t know enough about the rest of the teams yet, but I’m glad week 1 is finally here

I agree with all of this…I just don’t want people to be like “there’s no memorial so they should win 32” only to turn around and be like “you only won because memorial was in 4A” it’s still a very tough sectional with 3 other teams receiving votes.

They still haven’t renovated that field? man…I hope they get around to it…I remember playing there and it’s a cool field…it’s just been in tough shape for a while

It’s truly crazy that Gibson Southern, as great as they have been, haven’t made it out of sectionals in 5 years….but that probably speaks more to who we faced and how good those teams are in the pocket. hoping this is the year that GS makes it to LOS…and this team is talented but to be very clear….I don’t want the narrative to be that “they only made it because memorial and chatard were in 4A”…if it does happen. I think GS has shown they are more than capable of doing it with them in 3A and if they were to make a run this year, I would think they would be good enough that people don’t put an asterisk next to any of their accomplishments

Rory Heltsley picked up his 4th D1 offer today! This time from Dayton currently has 3 FCS offers and 1 FBS offer offer list is Air Force Dayton Morehead State Brown university this kid is really building up a ton of momentum from last year into this season. Congrats to him!

Hypothetical…..lol brebeuf and Gibson Southern meet in the playoffs does Joe take it easy on Brady allen if he has a chance at a sack? Or does he show him how practice is going to be at Purdue for the next 3+ Years I kid I kid….it’s great to see Joe commit to Purdue. I’ve seen for a few years that he has been training with Robert Mathis and look forward to seeing him on Saturdays with Brady in the future

The nice thing for GS this year is that we are returning a fair amount of the defense…which it seems like since that 2015 season with the insane defense we had…every year has been hard with graduation and replacing most of the guys. I believe this year all the DBs are returning…or most and we have a LB/DL or two who are back for their senior years…..so hopefully this year there is no concerns with teams doing what they want on offense vs us. Last year we had to lean on Brady throwing it 30-40 times a game. GS is in Alabama right now though and currently 4-1 in the 7v7 pool play. Tons of 5A/6A/7A teams from Alabama/Georgia/Louisiana. In the past I don’t think we have done this well early in pool play. Post mooresville 7on7/current 7v7 tourney, GS is living up to the billing of how good they are it seems Make that 5-1 with a win over Hoover

I believe there are just 2 transfers. an OL guy from castle that ruffled lots of feathers to the SIAC guys….ihsaa approved the transfer. then there is another kid who moved 2/3 hours from Illinois. im not aware of any other transfers this offseason…..so to act like 2 guys transferring in is some big deal is laughable imo
