  1. Thanks Coach! My current favorite remains Greeks. We’ve made some trips to Crawfordsville since they opened there. How about you?
  2. I apologize. Let me be more specific. This generation of kids is as tough as those who’ve come before them. Most like to be pushed and held accountable, or coached hard. There will always be those who are soft or lazy, and they typically find other activities during the fall, or a place that better suits their personality. We could have a whole discussion on this, but I don’t want to hijack Lake Central/Crown Pointe football thread!
  3. I’m not in any hall of fame, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time. Had to fire the guy running the defense last year. He got his @ss kicked lol
  4. It can be hard to hire coach/teachers at a school with an enrollment of 240 period. We have a great situation at North Vermillion though in that regard. Very supportive administration. Having coaches in the building has been a big part of sustaining our success.
  5. North Vermillion High School is looking to hire a Defensive Coordinator. We are a small 1-A football program located on the Indiana-Illinois border, about 10 miles south of Interstate 74. We have an immediate teaching opening in Math. Potential teaching openings in other subjects could come later. We graduated 2 defensive starters from 2020. If you like working with tough, hard-nosed kids, this is a good opportunity. Contact Brian Crabtree by email: bcrabtree@nvc.k12.in.us or crabtreebm@gmail.com
  6. It can help, but if I was making a list, it would be down the line a little.
  7. You’re correct that the student populations are different, and that favors private schools. It gives them an edge. What is Gibson Southern’s edge? What are the Titans doing to develop an edge of their own when they private schools? Where can you find an advantage of your own?
  8. Sincere thank you to all of the old school GID private school supporters who ingrained in me “work harder, get better” as a response to this timeless argument. I’ve learned that if all of the other intangibles line up, and your public school team has been coached to be certain you couldn’t have been out worked, you should look forward to the chance to beat a private school.
  9. Congratulations on the Championship! O-Line was very impressive. I’m still using things I learned from our meeting.
  10. Micah Wilson and Nick Miller were especially fun to watch. Both are outstanding players - obviously I was impressed with the heart of South Adams and the composure of Covenant Christian - obviously The Covenant Christian offensive line is well coached. Their o-line coach is good at hawg coaching.
  11. South Vermillion beat Riverton Parke 46-16 in the Championship. North Vermillion beat Parke Heritage 52-20 in the consolation game.
  12. I just looked up Robies in Attica......how did I not know about this place? Their daily specials look delicious! Definitely going to have to check it out soon.
  13. Mid-season WRC Pizza King ranking: 1. West Lebanon 2. Rockville 3. Attica 4. Veedersburg
  14. Want to know a secret? Want to know why some teams seem to have a knack for winning the big games? It’s a mentality developed by searching out the best teams you can find to compete against. Competition like that takes away the fear of losing. And going into a big game, if there’s no fear of losing, chances are you’re going to win. Coach Berry and his program are awesome. I’m a big fan.
  15. Thank you. If you factor in Covid quarantine, on top of the normal injuries that happen every season, it’s a challenge just to field a team. It’s not even about being competitive at this point, but rather getting the game played. There are schools who are playing Friday nights with a varsity/JV hybrid line-up. Forget about making up for the 8 consecutive practices the team missed while in quarantine, because your line-up changes from day to day. There isn’t any continuity.
  16. It really doesn’t have anything to do with toughness. If the health department says shut down, you shut down. Also, all it takes is one positive test, and everything can be shut down.
  17. Is there anything prohibiting coaches who live/work on the border from coaching this fall, then taking an assistant job in Illinois this Spring?
  18. I’ve found that with Hudl, phones, texts, weekend meetings don’t necessarily have to happen anymore with a few exceptions. It can also be easy to confuse being busy with being productive. Just from my experience, I’m a better coach when I’m rested and I take time to recharge.
  19. Good stuff Coach. Always good to affirm the things we’re doing by looking at great programs and coaches.
