  1. I agree with that as well, but I would also say there are standards that do need to be met that were not. My educated guess would be that Kelly thought it was worth the risk to take knowing it would go down to the wire for him to do all that was needed.
  2. IU has an alumni camp, Camp Brosius, in Elkhart Lake, WI. I worked a couple of Summers there in college. During the REALLY busy race weekends in Elkhart, we would head out to Kiel. There was one bar that an old man named Bob owned. It was attached to his house. Bob had all kinds of gag toys at the boy that he loved showing off. He also had $2 pitchers of Old Style....hard to beat on a college budget. 🙂
  3. I am still not sure about Frisco. Jared Goff caught lightning in a bottle last season. I think we are seeing what happens when NFL defenses adapt. I still give Green Bay and even NOLA the nod based on strength of schedule.
  4. The real difference was that Penn and EC played week one of the season; so 9 games for the loser were completely meaningless as far as the post season went. The other issue I have with clusters is the tie break system. Does Texas still do a coin flip to see who gets in and who is left out of the playoffs among teams that are tied?
  5. Thanks for bringing up those memories Nowlin. My first coaching job at the high school level was at Chatard in 92. We saw all we wanted of all those Roncalli guys.
  6. One thing that stood out in the first video was number 34 for West Lafayette. Dude was a monster compared to everyone else.
  7. NFL admits the 2nd one was not a good call, but there is a point on the first one where it is clear Flowers has his hand on the front of the helmet.
  8. An ugly win is still a win, and now Green Bay has a firm grip on the division. Sure there were bad calls, but Detroit, in typical Detroit fashion, cannot do what they need to for a win. The Packers have been on the other side of bad calls plenty of times. I will take the win. But the Lions had plenty of opportunities to run away with the game. They had the ball on or inside the Packers 35 yard line 6 times in the game, and come away with just 22 points. They were 3 of 13 on 3rd down. They had 188 yards of offense in just the first quarter, and made it inside the Green Bay 10 on their first 3 possessions, but come away with just 13 points. Add to it, that Detroit had 12 men on the field when Green Bay was settling for a FG. The penalty gives the Pack a 1st down, and they go on to get the TD. Trade the TD back for the FG, and Detroit wins. like I said though, I will take the win. I still like this defense. Pettine’s ability to adjust is pretty impressive. The Detroit offense did not do much after the first quarter.
  9. I saw Whitlock post something about Succession. I have been wanting to watch Righteous Gemstones. Thanks for the recommendation. I will check them out.
  10. AAAAAANNNNNNND, the school WAS in Virginia. 😳
  11. Sometimes watching the Talking Dead afterward reveals more than I seem to catch during the show. Only a hint of Beta’s past as a musician was given, not much else that I saw. It was interesting getting some of the background, and the start of the wearing faces thing, but it seemed they spent a LOT of time on that. I am also finding the buildup to what is coming is often overdone. What are the odds that an attack is coming from the whisperers in the next episode? At this point, Alpha just gives me the creeps.....kill her off already.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjM7kDhpHw8 Check out the 4:00 mark...approximately....very impressive run.
  13. Not judging the kid at all here, and I am glad things have worked out for him. But based on your post, it sounds like it was on Stepp to get the job done; maybe even more so than ND's.
  14. He was impressive. I felt that USC did not use him nearly enough last night.
  15. One other observation, Claypool plays a lot on special teams. He limped off the field on the last ND kickoff. The limp looked bad.
  16. My first experience of seeing ND vs. usc in person....what a great day it was. Got a great parking spot for tailgating at 8:30 am, had a lot of good food, beverages , stogies, etc. 🙂 Has fun razzing a few sc fans along the way as well. 🤣 As for the game itself, the offense looked great in the 2nd quarter, but struggled most of the day beyond that. It was nice to see the run game going even while it was struggling. Not sure why the OC was so committed to the wide passes at the LOS so much. I thought Book looked average at best. He has some fantastic receivers that can catch poorly thrown balls. Seeing it in person, it is more obvious that he holds the ball too long. I did not see him throw a guy open once. Every throw was made after a receiver came out of his break. Many of his throws gave the DB’s time to break on the ball and be a factor in the play. Defense looked great at times, especially in the first half. One consistent theme for them throughout the game was missed tackles; way too many misses. The defense struggled at times in the 2nd half as sc was able to run at will. The two long TD drives by sc were impressive. I am not sure why they don’t give Stepp more carries. That dude is a beast. The Irish FG team and kicker were the difference makers in this one. The wind was howling all day long, and to hit from 40 and 52 was impressive. one of the great parts of the pregame....the ND announcer giving the game time forecast and saying “Trojans, you are not in LA now”. 🤣
  17. Just curious....years and years ago, there was a set amount you could win before you would be taxed. IIRC, it was $2,000. The tracks even had IRS reps woking the windows. Is there still an amount to win before taxes are paid?
  18. From his Twitter earlier today. This hits the nail on the head.
  19. Good question as far as allowing the Turks to do the dirty work. But it still does not really address the issue of the Kurds, and what they now face.
  20. Doubling down on the Kurds......”they didn’t help us in the second world war” Truly a sad situation for the Kurds who have been a strong ally for so long.
