  1. I have no doubt that it will end with osu getting their way. Just hope the Hoosiers remember this going forward.
  2. The only question is from Michigan. When did the countdown start for the players who tested positive? I believe that December 19th is the last date teams wanting to compete for the title can play...if I remember reading that right.
  3. I can empathize with osu a bit here, theye did after all win in a head to head game. UM cancelling was out of their control, BUT, asTemptation said, their own program did not do what it needed to leading up to the Illinois game. So my empathy stops there. IU has done what it needed to as a program, controlling the virus as best they could. They met the pre season standards that were put in place, and should not be slapped in the face for doing more than the osu program did to protect the season. Bigger question is, does osu get left out of the CFP because of the limited number of games?
  4. Still one of the most enjoyable games in the finals I have seen. The precision was pretty impressive. I rank it number 3 or 4. The first two are kind of obvious to me, considering I was on the field for them as my two favorite games.
  5. IIRC.....When 6A first became a thing to address disparities in enrollment at the top end, people had posted that the actually greatest disparities occurred from the biggest 1A schools to the smallest. I am not talking about just raw numbers obviously. I have not looked recently, but am wondering if that is still the case.
  6. The questions remain though....what is the fix? is there one? Would seeding make a difference? Adding a class? Making 6A smaller? Is MIC dominance a problem? I can see that some think it is. Is it a problem that people see as needing to be fixed? Does it help that the whole conference is in the South Semi State?
  7. I was referring to just this game. Not sure where you get that I was critical of them this season? Tell me where I was wrong. Every big play that Wisconsin had was due to blitz calls that opened up lanes for the qb on multiple plays where he escaped the pocket. Stunting up front at times allowed zone plays to bounce outside. So yeah, there is room for improvement, meaning there are things to be critical of.
  8. Tuttle's accuracy was impressive. He does need to run much less, or at least get down before contact. I thought it was bad call when the targeting was overturned though. I listened to the former official in the booth. Bottom line is a blow to the head is a blow to the head. Defense had me worried. I thought they blitzed too many too often. It created run lanes for huge gains; including the qb escaping the pocket. But, they made critical plays when needed. It was a good win on the road. Anyone seeing just how likely it is getting to be that IU and ND match up in a bowl game? Assuming that Clemson beats ND in the rematch.
  9. I know someone in this area that actually started the process to open a charter school......pretty much for that purpose.
  10. Me either...in fact, the only game they could not run was the Ohio State game. The run game has been a key in every other game.
  11. Pioneer had a great team. It was a great environment even under the conditions of the time. Being one of the press box coaches and being stuck outside the press box, the fans around us were great too. Watching that offense run as well as it did even in week 3 was impressive, especially considering the qb was a freshman. Best of luck next season.
  12. Saw on ESPN's Sportscenter that Pape's pick was number 5 in the top ten plays of the week. It was a great play.
  13. Well said TW...and by the way, congratulations. While I do think socio economics are a big factor (heck they are in education as a whole, so it stands to reason that would be the same for other areas within a school/district). I would add in the population I described earlier. I do not think it would be too difficult to have a system in place that determines how many students in each building are actually eligible/able to participate in ECA’s and arrange classes based on that number rather than just overall enrollment.
  14. I agree with the expansion to 8 teams. With things the way they are now, it would be simple to do. I agree though that the loser of the ND Clemson game gets left out. I mentioned this for several years now, because the current setup sucks. Bottom line is that ND has to beat Clemson twice to get in, and Clemson only needs to split.
  15. Praying for the young man; he has shown a lot of grit and determination throughout his career. It is sad to see this happen to him.
  16. Not sure....I do think the impact of being able to subtract students in that population would be significant. It may not effect us to that extent with football, but for this classification, we are the smallest 4A school in the 4 class sports (not counting teams that are up for the success factor). In the bigger picture, while subtracting those numbers may not impact us that much, there are schools it could make a difference in classification. There have been times where if we look at just our numbers minus that population, we very well could have been in 3A. I would even be interested in exploring taking this a step further. The DOE keeps these stats for each school; so it would not be much of a stretch to say for football, how many students in a school are in a pool of potential athletes. So, look not just at the special needs population I mentioned, but at the beginning of the year, look at how many students are even academically eligible to participate.
  17. Ok...thanks for clarifying that....I was aware of the unified sports that had started up......I was thinking that you were suggesting the IHSAA had rules in place now so a school could exclude kids for classification purposes in their enrollment numbers.
  18. Can you point to those rules you are referring to? As long as I have been here; 13 years now, the IHSAA enrollment has matched our DOE/ADM enrollment total.
  19. Good topic...I do think the schools and teams, along with the IHSAA deserve credit. I was hopeful, yet not very optimistic we would get through this. And I admit I have the same feelings about basketball. I am hopeful but skeptical. As far as the comments critical of the quarantines and getting kids back in school....I will agree there could be some easy changes to how quarantines were handled; have a kid stay out a few days; if they test negative after that time, they can return. As far as getting the kids back; every educator understands completely that the best situation for kids is to be in school. But, that is only part of the equation. Our district has a number of teachers out from positive tests. The inability to find enough subs to cover those teachers was a driving force behind our being 100% virtual through this week. Back to the topic, congrats to all involved for getting through the full season.
  20. I don't think that is his point.....As an example, we have about 10% of our population that are physically and/or mentally incapable of participating in football. So the REAL difference is not necessarily who is in the building for non public schools, it's more about who is not. With that population being minimal or non existent in those schools, they are classified among schools with the same total number of students, but a smaller pool of them to draw from for a sport like football.
  21. I will be curious to see where IU is ranked after this one. If they drop, it might be to something like 12. What will be more interesting, because of what the defense gave up, is if OSU holds on to number 3.
  22. A game full of what ifs.....cannot have the drops, turnovers and penalties they did and expect to beat Ohio State. That said, I am not really disappointed. They competed in the 2nd half on both sides of the ball.
  23. While it is obvious how much better OSU is than IU, IU is killing themselves with mistakes; especially turnovers. Defense has made some great plays, and I think Fields sees his stock drop in the Heisman race. IU NEEDED to score before the half, but give up a long drive instead. And OSU gets the ball first in the 2nd half. I hate to think this really turns into a route.
