So it’s not Jasper in general, it’s the new coach? Because Jasper football has been damn good for a long long time. I’m guessing Hart is last coach Reitz has liked but he didn’t stick around long either.

I think Jasper and new coach will do just fine. Not many coaches will be looking forward to Friday nights at VL or JHS.

Jasper could finish anywhere from 1st to 5th most years. Vincennes better than Harrison, Bosse, and North. How do those two additions not make SIAC stronger in football?

Does the regular season mean anything? I guess that’s a question for your players/coaches. I’ve haven’t met many players/coaches that Friday night didn’t mean everything. It’s high school sports. It’s hard enough to keep kids involved...now tell them they can play the regular season but there is a chance they won’t get to play in the tournament. And for a good number of teams I’m sure they would realize from day 1 they won’t be good enough to qualify. If the regular season is ever meaningless to a team then that team has competitiveness issues and character issues. We are talking about programs that will likely be one and done. So who cares? And, if they shock the world....good for them! HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS! Let’s do all we can to give the kids a chance to play. Evansville Bosse would have never qualified last season in football. But they took a 28 point lead over an undefeated Boonville team. Boonville eventually won by 7 but that game was everything that is right with “all-in!”

I like “all in” for high school sports. Regardless of how the season went it’s a chance to keep playing. Kids deserve that opportunity with their high school teammates, coaches and fans. Sports end soon enough for 90% of the kids. T32 is correct. 1 small adjustment can solve a lot of problems.

Epic fail by all those involved in moving games to Monday and Tuesday. Felt more like a late midweek legion game instead of a state championship game.

Agree on all points. Taking nothing from Bosse but after playing them or seeing them yearly teams are well prepared for their speed. As Boonville realized and it only took a half to adjust.

Why would a kid want to play for a staff and athletic department that doesn’t think they want or can compete in SIAC. GS gets punished because a team is scared of a consistent challenge. Still can’t believe some of the quotes in that article

Find where I said SIAC went looking for VL. They went after and got Jasper. VL didn’t hesitate to say yes immediately when asked jointly by Jasper and SIAC. Not uncommon in high school sports to drive 50 miles for a game. SIAC got better by both the new schools joining. And both have great followings.

I think we both know the big 8 is in trouble. Two teams looking out for their best interest took advantage of a situation without hesitation. Next time, don’t hesitate!

SIAC didn’t need any team to help the conference. SIAC is helping a conference that is struggling and VL and Jasper pulled the trigger with zero hesitation. Central had 2 years of good football and a horrible overall athletic program and suddenly we are concerned about VL and Jasper being good for Central??

VL has nothing to prove, IMO VL’s rich tradition in athletics makes for a perfect addition to SIAC. PAC conference is in a good place. Strong with good athletic programs. Big 8 struggling and SIAC gets the two best programs in it. Win for all those involved. Plus Bobe’s Pizza > Sandy’s Pizza

GS has exceptional softball. So give me baseball over softball.

I’m not sure SIAC cared who came in after Jasper. #1 priority was Jasper. I respectfully disagree. I don’t see a difference in GS or VL other than driving distance. I see huge difference in Jasper JMO.

I agree!! SIAC is a good conference overall, not great! A few SIAC sports/programs are very competitive at the state level. As a fan it’s nice to be able to drive 15 minutes and see every conference team/game being played. And yes, staying at 8 would have been just fine.

The SIAC didn’t really need any teams to join. IMO Jasper along with VL or GS would have been fine with me. I’m not buying for 1 second GS offers more in terms of overall athletic appeal than VL.

Memorial has 1300 less than its rival in all sports. Top tier recruiting 😜

No disrespect to GS and Boonville but I hope SIAC stays at 10.

Getting Jasper sounded like the #1 priority. Vincennes Lincoln or GS would be my next pick then Boonville. Is there any talks of Boonville and GS making it 12 teams?

Excited about what Jasper brings to the SIAC for selfish reasons. Memorial and Jasper has been a rivalry for many years in a number of sports. Vincennes has outstanding athletics as well. The PAC will be fine. I really like the look of the new SIAC.

JMO I prefer 10. Not interested in 12 with 2 divisions...if that’s what would happen. I hope all the city schools and two parochial schools can continue to compete in all sports. I’m not sure that happens if 2 more come in. Lots of good overall athletic programs in the area that would fit nicely in SIAC but as an old fan of the SIAC 10 is enough.
