  1. I imagine that the wife of at least one of those burned cars' owners turned to him after the opening kickoff and said, "Are you sure you locked the car?" to which he replied, "Quit nagging me ... nothing's going to happen to the car. You're always worrying."
  2. To be fair, Calpreps, in the early part of the season, isn't a great current season indicator. When you catch it early, you are actually catching some cross influence of last season as opposed to solely on the current season. They themselves don't start doing their projections until about halfway through the Indiana football season. From their own website:
  3. Four turnovers in the second half with two in the red zone makes it hard to put up points. Compared to yesterday where Harrison scored on four of its five second half possessions ... that sat on the clock for the fifth possession to run it out. I officially retired from coaching football back in 2020, so I don't have any direct or indirect influence anymore. I'm just a dad and fan now ... a dad who helps to wrangle cats on the sidelines.
  4. Wonder what the Jeff - Logansport score was if they played that year? These are all just cool scores, especially given the current state of the teams. I love that Notre Dame / Culver game. Not so much the score, but the idea of high schoolers getting an opportunity to play against Notre Dame.
  5. I too thought it had been banned. Luckily, it had mostly dissipated by the time the cloud had reached the field ... it wasn't as big as I've seen fans do it the past where it literally obscures all vision ... but I was wondering how it might have impact if it hadn't been thinned out.
  6. There was a Loch Ness Monster sighting at Harrison last night, but it turned to just the way the light hit the powder that was tossed by the McCutcheon students at the opening kickoff.
  7. Harrison sits on the ball with their fifth possession of the second half and runs out the running clock. Wins 38-3. Harrison D looked good tonight. McCutcheon only got close to the goal line twice: once for a field goal after being denied and the other time was a Harrison pick in the end zone.
  8. Harrison 4 for 4 on second half possessions. 38-3 over McCutcheon.
  9. Harrison 3 for 3 on second half possessions. Now leads McCutcheon 31-3. Just inside 4Q start. Harrison D with a takeaway as I type.
  10. Harrison stops McCutcheon and scores on first drive of second half. Leads 17-3. Announcer just announced WL 21 - LCC 14.
  11. Harrison leads McCutcheon 10-3 at half. McCutcheon will receive at start of second.
  12. Harrison QB runs five keepers in a row covering over 50 yards. Harrison leads 10-3 with 3:26 in 2Q.
  13. Harrison fumbles second play from scrimmage. Defense holds enough to force a field goal. McCutcheon 3 - Harrison 0 with 8:29 in 1Q
  14. This would be more likely a consideration if WL bumps to 4A ... and in conjunction with Tech leaving the NCC. If they stay 3A in enrollment though, I suspect they would likely stick with the HC.
  15. WL has traditionally floated around the top of the 3A class in terms of enrollment, but I wonder if they may end up tipping into 4A soon. For a while, they were a closed-enrollment district, but I believe they are now opening up the district. Harrison and West Lafayette are separated by roughly 5 miles, but it feels much closer. Harrison will be a 6A school in the next classification cycle. There are two housing areas that are just starting to build-out close by Harrison and that will pretty much cement Harrison in 6A and may well propel it past Jeff as the largest area school in just a year or two. I could certainly see some bleed over possible into WLJSH; especially as it has the unofficial moniker of Purdue employees' high school ... realistically, while WL has lots of Purdue employee kids there, there are plenty at the other area schools too.
  16. That would make sense as Harrison's freshman squad played LCC's JV team the weekend that varsity played WL. Harrison does the same thing with its freshman baseball squad. They call it a second JV squad, Harrison has Blue and Orange JV, and most games scheduled are against JV squads and not freshman squads.
  17. While not a game of two ranked teams, #9 5A Harrison and 5A McCutcheon play a rivalry game in the Battle for the Sword.
  18. Don't know if WL JV is just a skeleton crew or not, but after their varsity beat Harrison's varsity 27-14 in the opener, Harrison's JV literally named the score against WL's JV 47-0 ... missing two PATs to put the score at 47 which was Omarion Dixon's number when he played there.
  19. @gonzoron's right. We really need GID to have a *groan* response. It's so appropriate for the punsters that frequent GID's threads.
  20. Where is that *groan* rating when you need it?
  21. Richmond's definitely struggled on the football side. Last season, Harrison's JV ended up playing Tri-West instead of Richmond's JV. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind that, but it may have been like the situation with Anderson, where Anderson's JV ended playing Harrison's freshman squad and Harrison's JV squad instead played Chatard's JV squad. Definitely a tough hill when your undercards aren't able to play the guys that will be on the main event the following year.
