  1. So, you actually think IMG was a downgrade from Center Grove, @temptation, or are you just trolling more than normal?
  2. I didn't know if that was the exact reason. That he is. I'd hardly call IMG a downgrade from Center Grove. I can't speak to Warren's schedule. I do know in both cases that the coaches have been vocal about keeping the schools on the schedule. BD had an opportunity to schedule IMG on a one-year deal and took it, but the 2024 schedule has Center Grove on it. That could obviously change though. BD picks up Cathedral once Moeller drops off and Carmel doesn't drop off, so I'd hardly call it a weak schedule.
  3. And why did those four BD coaches leave? Dick Dullaghan (retirement) Tom Allen (Wabash assistant coaching opportunity) Mike Kirschner (stated reason was burnout...but was then pursued by Mt. Vernon) Jason Simmons (Likely college assistant coaching job at MAC program that's his alma mater) Warren's coaches Shelbourne ?? Wright (Left for Jenks Oklahoma) Tutsie (Had a vision after reading Tony Dungy's book...and a losing season) Hart (Unceremoniously left seemingly unamicably) Tutsie (Awful year) West (Move to Franklin Central to be closer to home) Kirschner...
  4. Coach Simmons has not announced anything official, but the tea leaves say he's headed to Miami of Ohio as a running backs coach. Coach Simmons is a Miami graduate and played there under Terry Hoeppner. As far as the talent goes, yes, Ben Davis is very talented and will return several players next season.
  5. If true, this is Coach Simmons' alma mater. He played there under Terry Hoeppner. I am so thrilled for coach. He's truly a great man who has such a big heart. He cares about his players very much, and they absolutely love him. I know this is being really taken very hard by the players in the BD program, but I think they understand that this was an opportunity that Coach Simmons couldn't pass up. Now, we'll see who's up next at BD. Cupboard is loaded for a deep run into the state tournament. I would assume this will attract some big name applicants as well as those who served as assistants back to Dick Dullaghan's era.
  6. I'd love that. I said what I said. Jim Inskeep has kept a good relationship with the MIC. Can't speak for Center Grove.
  7. That's what I was told as well.
  8. I don't recall mentioning Center Grove.
  9. The MIC just pushed them out the door. Don't count out a return of Carmel. The fact that Jim Inskeep is a class act is not lost on many in the MIC. I have nothing other than anecdotal evidence and informal conversation to base that on.
  10. He won a MIC Championship at NC. Something that had not been done before. Everything went haywire after the COVID year.
  11. I love his website. I had no idea he was such a disciplinarian as a football coach.
  12. Hope you all had a good one. Sorry that I didn't see this until now.
  13. Yes. He took over for the late great Paul Loggan.
  14. Wishing Coach Bless all the best. His father and my father were contemporaries and played football together at Indiana Central. My father was one of the first football coaches at Avon (depends on what you count as the first coach, so I always say one of the first) so a couple of connections there. He's done a great job at Avon despite the last few years. He really raised the bar there and took a good program to an elite program for several years. He's produced a lot of great players. I talked to one of my students who played for Coach Bless, and he was really sad about him retiring. I'm sure there are many. Good luck Coach!
  15. Nevermind. It's done! $20 to the shut DT up club.
  16. Tried to do that, and it won't let me.
  17. It was a poor choice of words, my apologies. Yours is much better as always.
  18. Not necessarily for video coverage since the IHSAA claims a monopoly on streaming/broadcast video.
  19. If a wrong kid is named at the state game, the roster was wrong.
  20. Jerry is a very kind and generous person. I know he spent time over the years with my young broadcasters walking them through his notes and his research for games. Jerry's one of the few people who can still make me starstruck. He may have lost a step or two, but that's a step or two no one else had.
  21. Having seen the mercy rule applied multiple times since it was adopted, I think it works well. The closest I've ever seen to a comeback in 30+ years of watching high school football at Ben Davis was a Regional game at Warren in 2000. Ben Davis got out to a 35-0 lead. Warren scored 30 in a row. BD closed out with 30 of their own in a row. 65-30 was the final.
  22. I was hoping for a certain purple team on the Westside of Indy not named Brownsburg.
  23. I've given up trying to predict 6A this year. Team with the most points wins.
  24. Brownsburg took advantage of every mistake Ben Davis made. I thought the Giants showed some heart to rally, but the Bulldogs kept making plays to slam the door. Brownsburg is for real, but, like Temp said, every time you start to buy in....... BUT, I think things might be different this year.
