  1. Yeah. Somewhere in there. Wasn't it right before the half? Actually, he was punting from about the 25 or 30 and it went over his head and rolled down to the 10. Other than that. Yep. That covers it.
  2. https://audioboom.com/posts/2631171-james-banks-scores-improbable-touchdown-from-11-9-01-regional-bd-vs-wc We have the audio at WBDG. The video is somewhere out there in the twitterverse, I think.
  3. Center Grove 56-0 Pike 28-21 Carmel 35-14 Ben Davis 35-31 (or whatever I said on the other thread)

  5. It's 57-36-3 by our count. This game is a toss up this year as it has been for the last few. I really think either team can win it. Obviously there will be the extra emotion hanging over this because of Mike Kirschner's return to Ben Davis. There are a few coaches on the BD side who were hired by Mike or who coached with him or were coached by him. It's going to be weird. Giants win 38-35. Last year, it was a 21-14 game. The year before, it was 27-24 in Double OT but 17-17 at the end of regulation. Defenses tend to bow up in this one a bit. I think it's a good bet though to go high on the prediction.
  6. Center Grove now up 38-21 on Ben Davis with 11:26 to play. Trojans in overdrive at the moment.
  7. Warren Kirschners 49, LC Bears 14
  8. How could I forget Howe? My dad was a dean there in the 70's. Beautiful building.
  9. BD has to avoid the big play if they can. They played a great first half in Semi-State then it all fell apart in the 3rd quarter. Definitely can't spot CG 35 points like they did last year in the first half of the regular season game.
  10. If they want to. Not sure IPS wants to sell. After all, we've seen former high schools that became middle schools be resurrected into high schools again. Attucks closed as a high school and came back Shortridge closed as a high school and came back Washington closed as a high school and came back Marshall closed as a high school, came back, then closed again Northwest and Arlington are middle schools now, but a different administration and different financial priorities might make those buildings reopen again in the future. The only one I don't ever see possibly coming back is sadly Broad Ripple (where my dad was assistant principal for 18 years). I think that property is a gold mine for IPS.
  11. I think your picks and assessment of the MIC are pretty spot on. The question will be which of Tier 2 will step forward in the playoffs to make Tier 1 sweat.
  12. 2001, 2014, and 2017 Ben Davis primarily ran the spread. 2018 Warren Central ran the spread. Heck, even Center Grove is running spread concepts with Jackson as QB.
  13. Having seen some physical football teams play the spread. I say no.
  14. Ben Davis Concessions partners with the Area 31 Career Center Culinary Arts and the BD Dads Initiative. They have some REALLY good stuff!
  15. What a great league the Mid-State has become!
  16. Gotcha. Sorry. It flew over my head. I withdrew my comment. My apologies.
  17. Detroit King is a four-time State Champ (last time in 2018) and played in the title game in 2019. Sounds like they have a stellar athletic program. I'm not saying that Carmel should not have been the favorite, but this idea you seem to be implicating that... 1) Inner city schools are somehow deficient at athletics or... 2) That King is somehow a bad athletic program... is ridiculous.
  18. You should look up four-time Michigan champion Detroit King.
  19. I agree with your picks. We'll see exactly how good Center Grove is this week. Personally, I think Carmel will give them a game for a while. In the end, CG wins somewhere in the neighborhood of the score you have. Give me 31-14. Warren Central continues to improve under Mike Kirschner this week. Not sure how good North Central is, but I hear they are young. Warren 35-14. Incidentally, Kirsch has never lost as a head coach to North Central. He was a perfect 11-0 at BD. Pike plenty of times has come into Ben Davis in the last 15 years or so looking like a dud and left with a win or an inspiring performance. If the Giants play to their potential, this shouldn't be a game... I'll take BD 45-14. LN finally got over the hump against LC, and I think they do it again. LN 31, LC 14
  20. Warren Central played Bishop Sycamore, apparently. From John Harrell's page. 2019 SEASON (8-4) Coach: Jayson West Aug. 23 Center Grove W 21 14 Aug. 30 Louisville Trinity (Ky.)
