  1. 1) HCC job 2) State Championship (2010) 3) Growing Population
  2. Kizer was a worthy pick last year though the right pick would have been Bell, imo. There's no race like that this year. It's Spegal.
  3. Coach Shanley would be a perfect fit at Fishers if he wants it. It is a great job opening, and that area continues to explode in growth. I wonder if they will split into a third high school at some point?
  4. It was tongue in cheek and not meant seriously at all. I have nothing but respect for Snider. Seth Ziegel man...Seth Ziegel.
  5. But here's the other side of that. Prior to 1980, Ben Davis' record was 140-240 with 10 total winning seasons. Since, the Giants are 359-127. Someone changed that culture permanently. And I should give Bob Wilbur his props too. From 1973-1983, he went 59-53 and led the Giants to the 1977 Final Four (he beat Dullaghan in the Sectional).
  6. I've not talked in depth about it with Coach Simmons.
  7. https://www.indystar.com/get-access/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.indystar.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fhigh-school%2F2019%2F12%2F03%2Ffishers-high-school-football-coach-rick-wimmer-resigns-after-14-seasons-indiana-ihsaa-greenwood%2F2593548001%2F Hats off to Coach Wimmer. Built that Fishers program from scratch.
  8. I won't lie. Several, but could Perry be a competitive team in the Mid-State? Could Tech win the NCC? Sure. If we're setting the level at elite status...well...you're right.
  9. Well, Kevin Wright took a serious look at Tech supposedly once upon a time. I believe that's when Dr. White was going to make Tech the only football program in IPS if I remember correctly. I think Coach Moore would win any where he goes. It might take him a while. The kids would gravitate to him. Perry hasn't always been a doormat. While that program has struggled in recent history, Craig Barr had some good years, and the program had some very solid seasons in the 1970's and 80's under Steve Purichia and others. We're kind of seeing what happens when a great coach goes in there on the basketball side. Mark James took BD's boys basketball program and turned them from bad to mediocre into state champs in six years. Perry is moving in a positive direction right now with him down there. To answer your question, I think they would struggle early, but I think they also know how to build programs...especially in Moore's case.
  10. Hire makes perfect sense. Hopefully he can have the kind of success that his father had there with the Wildkats!
  11. He has no reason to leave unless it's for a college opportunity. The grass isn't always greener on that side of the fence, though.
  12. BD has the two I always wanted to see get on the schedule with Avon and Brownsburg. I miss the old Westside rivalry with Decatur Central, but that's probably done. I'll go with St. Xavier because I don't think BD gave a very good account of itself in Cincinnati the last time around and Penn because I miss that old BD/Penn rivalry game. If Jeff has a week 2 opening, so does Carmel.
  13. 1) Supportive administration and community 2) Strong work ethic 3) Big toolkit in dealing with a wide variety of young people 4) Holding everyone in the program accountable 5) Excellent reflection and innovation skills
  14. BD still has a game open. Anyone want to play them? Contact John Clark.
  15. Here's what we should do. We should divide the number of schools into 16 classes in 6A and award 16 different trophies. BD/Carmel would play a single playoff game. Winner gets a trophy and so on.
  16. I'm just a dumb radio guy who meddles with history. Jim Pich is the man.
  17. 2005-Decatur 2006-Won Sectional 2007-Pike 2008-Won Sectional 2009-Avon 2010-Pike 2011-Won Sectional 2012-Pike 2013-Pike 2014-Won Sectional 2015-Avon 2016-Won Sectional 2017-Won Sectional 2018-Warren 2019-Won Sectional
  18. People define decades differently, but Ben Davis Football finished the 2010-2019 period at 84-35 with 3 MIC, 5 Sectional, 4 Regional, 2 Semi-State, and 2 State Championships. Historically, this decade trails the 90's (115) and the 00's (97) in wins. It's third as well in winning percentage behind the 90's (.885) and the 00's (.752). Since 1980, the Giants are 352-124 (.739). Program wise, the Giants are 499-367-12 (.576). Next win will put BD at 500. Thank you to Jim Pich for helping me get to these numbers. By the way, this win total includes a 1997 forfeit win over North Central (that John Harrell doesn't recognize).
  19. Transportation has been a growing issue over the last few years. When I was 16, I couldn't wait to get out on the road. That's not the case anymore.
  20. I was in college at that time, but it was a long drive I'm sure.
