BD was 2-5 coming out of Carmel last year with a 32-9 loss. They won the Sectional and beat Carmel in Regional. Whatever happens, everyone makes the playoffs, and BD gets lucky with the Sectional draw. As far as the picks... BD/Carmel often favors the underdog. Series is BD 24-23. BD was in position to close the last two weeks. They just didn't. I'll call the upset. Giants 42-41 LC/NC...I'll take LC Pike/CG...CG, duh WC/LN...Warren by 14

Heck of a game. I talked to Mike Kirschner afterwards. I'm happy for him and for his team. That is one those guys will remember forever. For the Giants, this one will sting. Hope it's not a fatal blow to the season. This week will include some soul searching. On to LN.

I could not be more thrilled for my friend Mike Kirschner. His kids took advantage of every Ben Davis mistake and never quit. This one will be a tough one to swallow for Ben Davis. I'm very gutted for the Giants, but, if it had to be a loss like this, I'm glad it was to Mike. He is a great man, and his team believes in him clearly. Congratulations to all the Warriors fans too. That one's going to be talked about for decades. BD and Warren combined for 113 points tonight. The BD/Warren basketball regional in 2018 ended up as a 48-46 win for Warren in OT. Chew on that one.

LN a few years back during the waning years of the previous coach was the worst I've ever seen. Even the Hautes would sneak up every once in a while and bite somebody. There were some very lean years for South. It was usually one team that was significantly worse than everyone. 4-5 mediocre teams and a strong top 3-4. This year you have.. By the way, it's good to see that this rivalry is finally getting placed in a historical perspective. I mean, these two have played every year since about four years prior to the U.S. entering World War II. I have to really thank Marion County's unofficial official high school sports historian Jim Pich for sharing his hard work and research with Ben Davis and Warren Central.

I've had coaches tell me that this year has been even more difficult because last year the protocols were ramped up so high. This year, it's more difficult to tell who has it, who has been vaccinated, etc. I can only imagine what coaching staffs and athletic departments are going through. One coach told me, we're just hoping to get to tomorrow to play on Friday.
