Girls Flag Football Growing In The State
Basementbias replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Love how JV is all over the place. Some have Saturday mornings. I'm used to Monday evenings for JV as being the norm. 5th/6th is Saturday morning. Middle school normally Tuesday with nothing on Wednesday for church groups, and back in the day Thursday for Freshman. Think Spring might be the best option for girls flag. I don't pay enough attention to the Spring sports schedule to know if Friday nights would bring crowds or another night. -
Haven't read up on it, but does it matter if the transfer occurs before school starts or at a nine weeks/semester? What about moving out of state and then coming back? Where I'm going with this is a senior playing fall sport at School A that has the better fall sport & then transferring to School B for winter sport that School B is better in. I could see that being a thing locally.

Just throwing an idea out there. Why not create an additional round to eliminate playing 2 semi state games? Have the sectionals remain the same, but add in a "Districts" round. This would be between Sectional and Regionals. Say have it Tuesday (11th this year) or Thursday (13th this year) before Regional. Then Regional & Semi State can be 1 game each. Also can award another trophy for that round. That or make Sectionals have 1 more game.

I would seed the tournament but not just sectional, but by regional. You would have 3 sectional games and a sectional championship still. I would make the higher seed be the host so 1 seed could host every round of sectional and the regional. Semi State would be neutral fields and different semi state matchups 3 years. So basically year 1 is NW vs NE & SW vs SE. Year 2 NW vs SE & NE vs SW and year 3 NW vs SW & NE vs SE. -
Cool, I'll just say that my opinion is shared by a few others inside as well (not all obviously). Especially comparing the grades not just from player abilities but other factors that I posted. Doesn't mean those kids can't become part of another successful run, but things will have to be adjusted to do so. If you think I'm critical, just wait until the HS coaching staff gives their constructive criticism. I've been pretty tame compared to years in the past on the criticism. I may help on the AC side but I actually have duties to both schools. Unfortunately the other side doesn't want to take any suggestions and the results have shown that. I won't get into that or you'll really see how critical & frustrated I can be.

Tape shows it all anyway! Luckily that end of the 1st half went our way to gain some momentum in that game. Didn't really matter anyway with Lutheran winning it all. Another thought on Heritage is that they blew it this year. No reason their 1 way players were not in condition against our 2 way guys. Plus they need some discipline on the field & sideline on penalties. I just post what I see positive or negative on here. There are no big secrets to protect on here. The scheme is the same in everything with slight adjustments. If you purchased the broadcast of the finals, Coach Mosser even told the broadcaster it's the same as the prior 3 years. Yeah I paid the $ to watch it from that perspective to see things from another angle compared to LOS. Yeah my role is small bc I have way too much going on at work & with family. Already stretch myself thin helping with what I do at the lower levels. It's all worth it though to watch those kids you get to know have success on & off the field. Missing out on great football. I'd love to see our Jets reach a level similar to the Flyers & Cavaliers. A lot we could learn from them in my opinion. Oh well this Stateliner & "River Rat" (4th generation) will probably never agree on everything with those in other parts of the school district. Glad to see another of our St. Mary's Township boys help our team to another title.

Tag me then. Don't like it too bad. If we would have played the 2nd half against NJSP like we did the first, then it would have been NJSP playing in Indy 2 years in a row. Luckily we were much better in the 2nd half thanks to Jack Hamilton and for the NJSP defense not responding to the AC adjustment on offense. Yeah I do look for holes & you can bet everyone in MS through Varsity do as well. Like it or not, we don't stack up to Marion Local and thankfully we don't have to. Same way with Coldwater that beat our 7th grade 47-12 this season with kids playing tackle for the first year ever over there. They are truly the best small school football programs in the USA let alone Ohio. As for not appreciating the run, you must be delusional. This year's seniors have worked their butt's off every year they played. Always 2nd fiddle to the class of 24 but the ones who always did the grunt work. It's been like Christmas since the clock hit 0. The best part has been watching my cohort the first time around watch all 3 of his boys play in the state finals with his middle son going to 4 in a row as a player. Coach started the AC in-house in 2017 and it has paid off. Just feel fortunate to have been asked to be a part of it at the youth. I was involved when AC & Bellmont (few Heritage) were all mixed together before that. Yeah I can be a bit negative or nervous about possible matchups or things that need cleaned up. That just comes from being bitten on things before.

Eh, they are both just message boards. They have more frequent posting like it used to be here when I was in HS and my brother was in 16. Didn't expect the explosion of posts on AC & Linton's common opponent from Ohio. Being on the Stateline I love showing love to our Adams, Allen, Jay, (non line next 2) Wells, & Blackford County schools in Indiana, and Van Wert, Mercer, Paulding, & Allen (bordering Van Wert & Mercer) County schools in Ohio. Having connections & family spread around most in both states.

The MAC is the best small school conference in the country. They are all at the mercy of the rural make up, however they are just big, strong, and fast German Catholic kids. All very well coached. Have quite a few D1 guys in the past & NFL guys. Especially St. Henry for NFL guys. They are just anomalies it seems. This ML team for sure. They are just on a different level than many small schools. Thankfully our Jets don't have to play fhem.

I'm an AC guy, but if you have watched Marion Local play and their size advantage you would understand. Their defense would figure our offense out and their lines are no joke. We wouldn't match up well to their WRs besides the 3 or 4 headed monster in the back field. Might not be a running clock for sure but it could turn that way with MLs special teams play. I'd hope to put up a Minster style fight only falling 21-7. Minster was most likely the 2nd best D7 team and Columbus Grove the 3rd best. AC is probably somewhere between Minster & Columbus Grove. Grove lost 41-6 to ML in the semis and ML turned it over 3x in the red zone and 1 deep in CG territory leading to their only score.

The Miners will probably be able to say after this coming weekend that they lost to state champions to start & end their season. Both from neighboring counties in 2 states. Just shows you that Linton will play anyone to improve themselves. A great program in Southern Indiana that went home with red medals & a trophy when I'm guessing most didn't expect it this year. I hope the community down there is proud of their team and remember they knocked out the 3x defending champions! That's a pretty good season!

Yep I was! A lot of frustrations taken out on the Miners. Good game Linton! We know how that feels. Mission accomplished! -
Semi-State Championship Scores
Basementbias replied to Komets2727's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That good. They probably should have beat our Jets last year but couldn't get it done the 2nd half. They were the better team in the 1st half. -
Oh yes we have and unfortunately my senior season was one with injuries & etc. I know we had some Sophomores & Juniors focus on other sports this year. Also the freshman class has had some struggles and had a couple good players move to South Adams. The 8th grade improved this year but struggled in youth & 7th grade. 7th grade was decent but has had some struggles. Same for our 5th & 6th grade, though they turned it on after SA embarrassed them. Was a great wake up call. South Adams has some players coming up. Our MS & HS staff do a great job though off teaching the fundamentals and getting the best out of what they have.

Linton & AC now in 2A is hard to believe isn't it? Both back at semi state too! Good luck to our Southern twin Linton!

Game Day Adams County! Though both are road underdogs, I'm still excited we have 2 programs playing for a shot at a trip to the state finals in Indy. Having family attending currently and attended in the past at both schools, as well as Bellmont, these games mean a lot to us and our communities. Though rivals when playing each other the last couple of weeks have shown the support the county has for both programs & wanting them to succeed. I think everyone can agree that the word gritty can be used to describe both of these teams. Starting with the Starfires, the Tri comeback & upsetting MG show that. A lot of teams would have folded in the position they were in against Tri at half. They found a way and look where they are now. As for the Jets, I think a lot of people thought it may be a rebuilding year after the Garrett game. Turned out the Railroaders are pretty good & playing at semi state as well. The Jets picked themselves up and got back to their winning ways. This year's senior group has always been in the shadows of the class of 2024 since the youth football days. They have always done the dirty work without a lot of recognition. They may not have been as gifted in terms of athleticism as the class before them, but they made it up with toughness, determination, and GRIT! As the Starfires head to North Judson and the Flying Jets to Andrean, soak in the moment that you are playing for a shot at state again. Embrace the underdog mentality and let it all out on the field. Show your opponents that grit you have shown us these past few years & weeks. After all Adams County is a farming & manufacturing county full of people that display hard work, determination, stubbornness, and grit. Win or lose tonight we are extremely proud of how you represent our small county! Go Starfires! Go Flying Jets!

Hypothetical Neutral Site Semi-States
Basementbias replied to HoopsCoach's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Would be cool to see the Adams County contingent cheering on the underdog Starfires and Jets one right after the other. This year especially for me having a senior cousin cheerleader who also plays in the band with her freshman brother for SA and the Seniors through Sophomores I coached in youth football for AC.
