  1. I was at the Dwenger Carroll scrimmage. 1. Jimmy S looked very good. Quick decisions. Good reads. More zip this year. Deep ball looked good. 2. BD looked better on the O Line than last year. They will however struggle. #5 for Bd was very good. Linebacker for BD was good too. Christian something. Id use him on offense too. 3. BD has a stable of average running backs with the same name and should not be at running back. 4. Steely is a beast. And it appears he has a younger brother. 5. BD new QB looked good but threw a couple picks(or 1 and 1 should’ve been) 6. Overall, BD looked better than I thought. They have, as usual, a group of kids that are passionate about winning as a team. However, Carroll will beat them by 35 minimum in regular season and BD might lose 6-7 games with their schedule. Wrong year to schedule Brownsburg and Moeller Anyone else have a scrimmage report?
  2. Get rid of the success factor. Or have schools play down as opposed to up.
  3. Homestead won’t be good this year unless they find a QB
  4. I guess they don’t have a feeder program. So if that’s the case, it would have to be Carmel. And then Chatard and New Pal and center Grove if you don’t go back too deep. ir you could add Luers but 2A and recruiting an absurd amount is hard for me to agree with.
  5. Agree. If 1 coach makes you dominant then you’re dominant. That coach will likely bring a culture that’s going to stay long term anyway
  6. I think you may be right. I wish that wasn’t the case. Personally, I would have scheduled 1 area (East Noble or that conference)team or maybe a Mishawaka:South Bend team. And the. Maybe a Region or Indy(New Pal type) of team as the extra two. Why BD scheduled two games that will show them nothing other than how manage a roster after injuries is beyond me.
  7. QB is a big issue for Snider this season. If they can find one, even serviceable that can make good decisions and make simple throws, they can contend.
  8. Don’t bet on Dwenger in 5A. If they move to 4A, which is being discussed, then they’ll have a chance at a nice playoff run. The current staff at BD is good, but they don’t seem to have the out them away instinct a staff needs to be ok with having to dominate.
  9. That’s a great list. It’s also hard to judge a great program accurately because you have schools move up for success factor recently that could prevent many more schools from winning in their own class level. Conversely, all 6A schools aren’t subjected to a “success factor” so they can continue to win in their own class level. Overall, If you factor in long term success, winning against teams in higher classes(or dominating the 6A level) rarely having an “off” year and produce college athletes, I would say it’s between Cathedral and Carmel with Cathedral edging them out. Before anyone gets on my case about 6A not having an option for moving up so it’s irrelevant, it “fairness” was actually the goal(which it’s not at all the case)Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central(and probably 10 others) could easily field 2 teams. I mean wouldn’t this provide more opportunity for more kids? If it was fairness, that would be an option. Since it’s not, it has to be about rewarding those who don’t want to earn it. Now I’m off my soap box. back to main topic. It’s Cathedral who has the top program.
  10. I tend to agree. New Pal, most years will be too much for teams that don’t face consistent size all season.
  11. Fort Wayne has very good teams. The traditional powers have been bumped up and recently Snider and Luers back in their class level. Dwenger was 4 points from going back to Lucas Oil in 5A and the following year probably should have beaten Zionsville to face Valois again. Carroll and HHS need a little more size to compete consistently in 6A. Indy schools are all enormous and consist of 80-85% of 6A so of course they will win 6A virtually every year. Hallway monitor
  12. If The Head Coach is not a dad to a player and has a strong personality and control of his program and communicates dad bias won’t be allowed, it’s usually fine. Unless, you have 5 or so on your staff. Although, at Dwenger, it seems to be a requirement to coach there. So far it had been fine. It will be interesting to see when some of the younger coaches kids make it to HS. Could be an ugly few years. Hopefully not.
  13. Concordia was Dwengers best all around team they played. The Concordia defense is legit. If not for 2 very costly turnovers on their first 2 drives, that game could be 14-10 Concordia at half. To beat Carroll, make Becker go left and take away the deep ball. If Dwenger played Homestead again, they would win by 21 minimum.
  14. Carroll 42 Homestead 21 Dwenger 49 Luers 14 Northrop 21 Snider 10 North Side 56 South Side 21 Concordia 35 Wayne 7
  15. They graduated everyone. AND, correct me if I’m wrong, Coach Ralph changed his offense to fit The Big Fella. I believe Coach Ralph likes to spread it out. If that’s the case, these kids have yet to run that O, add the fact that they don’t have experience and it’s possible to have a down Sr class too. Add it all up and you get a mediocre 4-1. Having said that, I would not want to draw New Pal in the Sectionals.
  16. This week more are allowed in. How many? I’m not sure.
  17. Luers is not very good. Northrop should beat Luers easily. North Sides D is proving to get worse and worse every week. on the others. 1. Dwenger is easily the best team in the SAC. I don’t think Homestead is within 14 points if Devon Tippmann wasn’t out that game. 2. Carroll will beat Homestead. 3. Homestead is getting better. More specifically, Ormsby. If he continues to improve, it can open things up more for Hartwick. If that happens, they could(still don’t think it will happen) beat Carroll. 4. Concordia. Their D is very good. They have 2 DBs that are All Sac at least on Grossman and Vanderbosch. The games lost were without starting QB and Center which caused MAJOR problems. Look for them to play the Saints better than expected. 5. North Side. They may be lower but for now, this is the spot. 6. Northrop. If you look into the numbers, the D has played well against everyone. The O has let them down. However, they have the athletes to do it. 7. Snider. Because of coaching, they are here. The youth is getting better but a well coached Senior laden team will be too much for them which was the case against Homestead last week. 8. Luers. They are actually getting better. The only issue is they are not deep enough to beat most teams. 9. South Side. Only because they beat Wayne. Although I think big they play again, Wayne wins by 2 scores. 10. Wayne. They will get better each year Haydock is in charge. They are also better than their record. But for now, this is where they belong.
  18. I hate to bump my own post.....BUT....I couldn’t help it. Saints win last night vs Carroll 31-21. Time for me to retire at picking scores and go out on top.
  19. If Leo would throw the ball, they could win 4A. But they wont win anything with this offense. CC is always CC. Always laying an egg or two. New Haven score surprised me a lot. As did North Side. Snider is getting worse by the week. Concordia is anyone’s guess Northrop is a team that scares me. If you let up just a little, they could surprise you.
  20. North Side lost to Luers after taking a 46-42 lead with 1:30 left. Luers wins 49-46. North Side is not good. And they are getting worse. Hopefully Dwenger wins tomorrow night and I might actually look smart to the board. That’s going to be a great one to watch. I predict the Saints win 31-21.
  21. North Side Had to play d before I say they are for real. Dwenger beats Carroll on Saturday. I may be eating my words come Monday but I feel they match up very well with Carroll.
  22. The more I think about it, I’m starting to lean this way too. One thing is for sure 5A is loaded this year at the top. As they were last year in the top 4 teams. This year seems a little bit deeper. Maybe top 6 or 7 are very good.
  23. I hope I’m wrong, but this is the most likely scenario. Even with Cathedral beating Carmel this past weekend. However, I would love to see the Saints pull it off.
