  1. The fun in engaging in these forum discussions is pointing out teams who could 'possibly' make some noise from the north. Last year it was Merrillville, and why not, they had some pretty darn good talent. The year before was Homestead. Their hopes were dashed when they lost their "all everything" running back during week 8. This year? I'm gonna have to roll with Penn. Why? Because there is no one else if Westfield is as good as they were last year. Or maybe it is Carroll if they can improve the defense. "Believe it when you see it?".................sure, don't blame ya.
  2. Of course, Carroll has yet to prove anything in football. I'm not sure what you are referring to with the "this time every year we hear it," comment. I think the most anyone said last year with regard to Carroll was that they could give anyone a scare with their potent offense. But it seemed like as the year wore on, the defense got worse. The odds of Sectional 3 beating Sectional 4 this year is about 1:7 (Sectional 3 took a huge hit with the loss of Snider). The communities of Homestead and Carroll could rival any in the state with regard to facilities, household income and overall success in sports. So I think everyone just keeps waiting for it to happen. I don't see it happening this year, Westfield is just too good it appears.
  3. That pretty much sums up Carroll's team last year. With the return of their QB, the offense should be dangerous once again this year. The defense can't get any worse I don't think.
  4. Looks good. From Fort Wayne it will be interesting to see who comes out on top between Homestead and Carroll. Not sure it will matter though, Westfield is pretty good I hear. Keep an eye on Carroll. If they can shore up their defense, then they might pose a threat.
  5. Looks good DT. Dwenger is a bit of a mystery going into 2021. They lose a bunch, but will they reload? Coach Garrett has that program playing at a high level. I will be interesting to see how good of a team they put on the field this year.
  6. Seventeen D1 recruits? They would have mercy ruled Center Grove. Yes, sounds like I missed the hyperbole.
  7. Maybe there was just a big gap between the Top 6 and everyone else? Merrillville was highly touted last year, so you know Chatard and Westfield gave them their best shot. And quite frankly, Merrillville hadn't seen the level of competition that those two programs offered. It was like running into a ton of bricks.
  8. All the more reason to dub Moore as Fort Wayne's most highly coveted lineman? And for the record, Dwenger's Jason Fabini is currently the top lineman to come out of The Fort.
  9. Westfield was undoubtedly the state's third best team last year, as Sagarin suggests. Merrillville's 18 point loss to them doesn't make them unbefitting of their #13 ranking.
  10. Merrillville still finished 13th according to Sagarin despite their poor performance against Chatard. Ahead of Zionsville, Homestead, and Dwenger, who were all in the Top 18. Concordia was more competitive against Chatard than Roncalli was last year, but that doesn't necessarily make them the better team. Let's just write off Merrillville's loss against Chatard as a bad night.
  11. Trai Essex was good (3rd round draft pick), but DE Moore is off to a better start from a recruiting standpoint. Moore has offers from Ohio State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, IU, and Minnesota..........just to name a few. Essex didn't get that kind of attention.
  12. I just went with a quick gut feeling, I never intended make it .500. I gave Snider, Dwenger, Homestead, and Carroll all two regular season losses. I feel that it's kind of hard to predict who will come out on top between those four based on Snider's last two years performances. One of those teams will suffer three losses or better..........just not sure which. I also have Snider, Luers, Concordia, and Wayne making deep playoff runs. So that throws off the numbers as well.
  13. I'll take a stab at the SAC. Dwenger 7.5 Snider 9.5 Homestead 8.5 Carroll 8.5 Concordia 8.5 Luers 10.5 Wayne 8.5 Northrop 5.5 North Side 4.5 South Side 2.5
  14. Carroll..............on the outside looking in. They lose some studs, but they also return some. Some within the program think they might be better than last year. If they can shore up their defense, they'll be right in the mix of things at the top of the SAC. Playing in their new 8 million dollar stadium might rev them up a bit as well. Having one of the top quarterbacks in the state helps. Poll looks pretty darn good DT. Thanks for yet another good topic to ponder.
  15. Yeah, if your a liberal, it's a significant development. Conservative opinions not welcome. I've read several of Ben Mezrich's books, and the movie that follows doesn't always follow script. But I will say, 'Accidental Billionaires' and 'The Social Network' are two in the same. Transformed our society for better or worse? Let's sit down for 8 hours when we both have time. I'd be more than happy to debate on behalf of the latter.
  16. I actually read the book. One of the few movies that follows the true life story to script.
  17. He's a thief if we're being honest with ourselves.
  18. Still a dork, I don't judge a man by the size of his wallet. Great fathers are the true heroes of our society.
  19. A social media platform that was stolen from other students at Harvard by some twerpy little dork.
  20. Yep, sometimes it just happens that way. It's a good program for sure.
