Center Grove @ Warren Central

But it is Warren Central, they always seem to have athletes to compete with anyone. No chance at all in this game? -
Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
BTF replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this Cathedral team supposed to be their best of all time? If that's the case, I'll take the Irish in this one. -

Count your blessings for having a guy like Eric Moore. Not everyone gets to have a Nick Saben or a Bill Belichick. We'll see what the Center Grove community is made of when Moore retires. Can the Center Grove football program sustain a couple more decades of success after he leaves? There's only a handful of communities who've sustained success for five decades, and Center Grove isn't one of them.................yet. Kudos to them for building what they have over the past two decades. Whether or not it continues remains to be seen. Laughing at a school of 1800 because they don't want to play a school of 5000 seems a bit arrogant.

Bishop Luers and Adams Central are pretty good. Maybe put them all in the same class? IF you have DOUBLE the enrollment of your counterpart, THEN you have a higher likelihood of having success against that opponent. Why is this so hard? It's why we have classes in the first place. It sounds to me like you want to go back to a three class system or even just one. Are you an attorney? You're going to hold on to your stance no matter what math and common sense says.

How do you know any of the said eight programs other than Merrillville are buying into that concept? I don't see any of their representatives on here touting what is being offered. Most coaches will simply say "we play where the IHSAA asks us to play." DT has offered a great proposal for the IHSAA to consider. In the end, they will decide.

Not sure how "I'm" taking the easy way out. I follow a football program with an enrollment of 1800 who has a respectable record of 8-13 against mega giants Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central. I enjoy watching them play against the big boys. I'm advocating for the masses and what is right. And a school playing another that is double in enrollment isn't right. Is it possible for a small school to beat a big school if they put in the hard work? Absolutely. Is it right that they have to put in three times the work to do so because of the massive disadvantage in enrollment? I don't think so.

Here we go again DT. Another poster from the MIC. With the exception of BDGiant93, I think the rest of them just want people to think that Indianapolis has the best football pound for pound in any class. Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central are going to put a good team together no matter how many students they have.....they are good programs. But if they were the same enrollment as their counterparts, they'd have 5 state championships in the last 20 years instead of 15 (that's a compliment by the way). Bottom line, sorry, I know that's going to hurt some feelings. And 2+2 dosen't =4. Common sense has gone completely out the window.

Can you clarify what you are asking? Are you considering Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central the outliers? Schools representing the north with similar enrollments to Westfield is common place. When Carmel is in the south, the probability of a school from the north, half the enrollment of their southern counterpart, is very high.

Six of the eight teams are legitimate contenders in my opinion. It's about increasing the probability of reaching the state finals. Were basically giving eight teams a better chance by allowing them to play similar sized schools..........the same opportunity given to schools in classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A.

Great idea, but right now I think the IHSAA has their hands full with determining whether or not to change the overall numbers in 6A. I agree that 24 teams isn't perfect, but at least we are giving the bottom eight a morsel of a chance. Does that stink for the #24 team? Probably. But yes, a line has to be drawn somewhere.
