  1. Assume? I don't think my assessment of Dwenger is an assumption based on their performances over the past two weeks. Being that we're only two weeks in, I'll back off just a tad. Homestead is to Dwenger as Carroll is to Snider. Victorious, but not necessarily better.
  2. Dwenger looks like the best team in the SAC at this point. Homestead, Luers, Carroll, and Snider are a crapshoot after the Saints.
  3. I don't think so. That sectional is Dwenger's for the taking with Snider not far behind. It's looking like Dwenger might be the best team north of Indy regardless of class. Snider has a state champion caliber quarterback, running back, offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker crew. It's their pass defense and lack of offensive playmakers deep down the field that ranks Snider behind Dwenger and Homestead in the SAC right now. If they improve those two areas, they'll be a tough out come sectional time.
  4. Great atmosphere at Spuller stadium tonight. Great game in front of about 5000 fans. Kudos to both communities for bringing it. Carroll got the win, but Neon Nation took a spanking from the Snider student section. Atmospheres like this are what make high school football special.
  5. It's hard to take the AP Poll seriously. The coaches poll isn't much better. Good coaches are preparing their team for the next week, not studying the rest of the state. When the GID had a poll, it was far more accurate than the other two. I'd say Sagarin is the best gauge at this point.
  6. Thanks for the info. It's hard to write off Carroll after just one week. Luers could be that good, or maybe Carroll just didn't play up to their potential. Looking ahead to the Snider game after waxing the Knights a year ago? I doubt it, but who knows.
  7. Yes, very unfortunate for Carroll. Any update on the injury? Minor or major?

  9. Snider's no longer a regional threat year in and year out? I wouldn't discount discount four decades of success because of a couple of down years. Anyways.............su casa mi casa. They're used to getting on a bus for every game.
  10. I think Snider and Carroll is still a game to keep on the radar. Carroll is still in the hunt for the SAC title if they win over Snider. I really don't see a team going undefeated this year in the SAC.
  11. A good portion of the community could just walk. Snider is surrounded by neighborhoods.
  12. Tickets should be 8-10 no matter where you live. The slight bump wouldn't affect attendance numbers in my opinion. We need to look at it this way.............high school programs are just as important as college programs. If we are willing to dish out between 40-500 a game on a college ticket, what is the harm in paying 10 for a high school ticket. And the entertainment is just as good. Not to mention you are supporting something in your OWN community. We all have more ties with our own community than we do with the college or pro team that we support. Get on board with high school athletics..............sports in it's purest form. No politics, just sports.
  13. I honestly don't remember who stated that they thought Warsaw may be a little down this year. I just remember someone saying it. It's a natural to feel that way when you lose some talent, but maybe Bart Curtis has a system in place that will keep the Tigers in the hunt every year. Either way, I'm pulling for Warsaw. The north needs another power.
  14. Thanks for the information. Never estimate good coaching. Someone on here kept saying this would be a down year for Warsaw. That doesn't seem to be the case after Week 1.
  15. North Side having a new coach was a question mark for North Side, as it always is when someone new takes over. Some of the Dwenger contingent was downplaying the Saints' capabilities this year. Both made a statement in Week 1..........as did Snider. There may not be a tougher 5A sectional in the state. Sectional 13 & 14 may argue that.
  16. Snider by 17 Homestead by 14 Dwenger by 7 Northrop by 28 Luers by 14
  17. I tried to find some information about Dublin Coffman, but came up short. I believe someone on this forum, maybe DT, labeled them as a Columbus power. If that's the case, then Warsaw has a good case for 'upset of the week.' It'll be interesting following the Tigers the rest of the season. I'd have to dub them as one of the Top 3 teams in 6A north at this point. The other two being Merrillville and Homestead.
  18. Valid. They have their normal defensive line and linebacking crew that can rumble with most teams in the state. It's their secondary that's going to determine whether or not they play Cathedral for the state title...........or at least rumble with teams like North Side, Dwenger, Valpo, and Zionsville for that opportunity.
  19. Agree. North Side will give anyone they play fits. Last year they started the season with a big win, then faltered in the end. This team needs to hold their head high. They almost beat a Snider team that appears back to Panther form.
  20. Overall looked big on Youtube. Justasportsfan............liked your poll, good content. Speaking of Youtube, watch the Dwenger game. No way they finish 5th. Blknights7.............those Knights looked good on Friday night. They'll finish in the Top 4 somewhere, I'm just not sure where. Snider will finish in the Top 3.......count on it.
  21. It's really a matter of opinion. It doesn't seem to make much sense on the surface. I felt that Dwenger let the SAC crown slip away both seasons. No offense to the Spartans. Kudos to Homestead for figuring out a way to get it done.
  22. 1. Dwenger – Great defense. Great skill guys. Big offensive line. Great coaching. Not much more to say. They’ve been the top dog in the SAC in recent seasons. No reason to believe they wont be again. 2. Homestead – The defending two time SAC champ looked solid in their season opener. A statement saying that “were here at the top to stay.” 3. Snider – Knocking on the door. The potential is there this year to reclaim their spot as the kingpin of the SAC. 4. Luers – Looked pretty good against what was supposed to be a pretty good 6A team. They just looked darn good in general. Not only to they have their sights on winning 2A state, but they think they can actually win the SAC. 5. North Side – The Legends are loaded with playmakers. This team could win seven games in the SAC this year, although I’m sure their goal is eight. 6. Carroll – The Chargers have a lot to prove this week against Snider. Losing to a 2A team wasn’t a good look for them on Friday. 7. Concordia – The Cadets ended their season last year against one of the best teams in the state in a game that went to the wire. They open up with a pasting of the Archers. Being ranked seventh may be a little insulting to them. 8. Northrop – They looked solid in the beginning against Homestead. But football is four quarters, not two. 9. Wayne – Is it fair to the Generals to dub them as the ninth best team in the conference after losing to a team like Dwenger? Who cares, it’s only Week 1. 10. South Side – Eight weeks left to climb in the rankings.
  23. Since the better team won, I have difficulty calling it an upset. From what I saw that night, Luers win that game 8/10 times.
