  1. I watched it. They dominated Dwenger in the first half. And it didn't look like a fluke, they just looked like the better team.
  2. Surprising. Figured fans would be chomping at the bit to get back into the stadium after a Covid year. That must be a record low since the stadium was expanded.
  3. In a stadium that seats 80,000?
  4. Snider historically does well when they have more time to prepare. I think Snider stacks up well with any team in the state with an average passing attack. Homestead isn't average, they never are. Some nickname them Quarterback University since they always reload in that position. Homestead's pass game against Snider's pass defense propels Homestead to a 42-28 victory.
  5. Agree. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. The SAC seems to comfortable in it's current state.
  6. I don't see Snider being a threat in this one. Homestead's pass game is too much of a mismatch against Snider's pass defense.
  7. They've actually had 2 or 3 state games like that. You can be one of the Top 5 teams in the state and still lose by 3 touchdowns by whoever comes out on top in Indy. I'm just saying it takes a pretty good team to get by Carmel, who beat a very good Snider team, and make it to state. I would say there is a decline in "something" at Penn. I'm just not sure what it is.
  8. The Penn struggles are baffling. They are just three years removed from waxing Carmel and playing in the state championship game.
  9. I saw this coming. I can't say for sure, but I seriously doubt Tippmann said that. It appears that it's a quote from a sports writer with Outside the Huddle. The comment surprised me a bit as well. I can't imagine a team is more willing to sit out a week versus playing a team of high caliber. And quite frankly, even if Snider did play a small school, they would have done everything they could to keep the score low. They used to have a "no pass" rule against Elmhurst and were very good about pulling starters after halftime against any team they played if the game was getting out of hand.

    Ouch! Good info though.

It wasn't pretty. But now they HAVE to beat Cincinnati and Michigan State at home to hit that 8 mark. I won't hold my breath on the road at Michigan and Penn State. Ohio State at home will be a tall task as well. I don't see Minnesota at home being a gimme by any stretch. Honestly, they could finish this schedule 6-6 and still be considered a pretty good football team. I'm not going to waiver though...........they'll hit that eight mark 🤔.
  12. No one with an IQ over 75 is calling for Kelly's job.
  13. They'll adapt to the SEC eventually, but they'll be a four loss 3 or 4 loss team for a few years and completely out of the playoff picture. But it's Oklahoma, so they will adapt the the SEC like Homestead and Carroll adapted to the SAC. It's just not going to happen overnight.

I forgot all about that conversation. You're off to a good start. Did you keep receipts on that one? I think I said 8+. Either way, starting the season at Iowa would be a tough task for anyone not named Alabama. I still think Indiana has a good team and that last year wasn't a fluke.
  15. Yet Oklahoma is still perceived to be the top football program behind Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. It's a head scratcher to me. At least college polls make some kind of sense. If I'm doing away with anything, it's the high school poll.
  16. Great topic. On one had, you'd think there are many capable players to play on special teams. They've made it to this level for a reason............they are very talented. On the other hand, if you are a multi-million dollar coach at a university that expects wins and a national championship, I may be tempted to put my best athlete on the team in a position to make plays on special teams. I can see both sides of the coin on this one. Personally, I'm giving my second string players an opportunity to get on the field and showcase their skills. That experience in front of thousands of fans is invaluable. Not to mention, your best player on the team doesn't do you any good with an ACL tear that happened on special teams.
  17. He's probably going to run into more talented offenses while coaching at ND than he did at Cincinnati. I have a lot of confidence in him. It's hard to expect ND's defense to to perform at a Top 10 level in their first game playin in his system. Time will tell.
  18. Every year there seems to be one piece missing from the puzzle. The line should get better as the year goes on.
  19. Though not a mid-major program, Cincinnati isn't Notre Dame. There is a difference in strength of schedule.
  20. I'm sure Freeman will be open to any recommendation BK may have after allowing 38 points in his season opener. As we've seen before, success at one level doesn't exactly equate to success at another.
  21. Great recruiter? Yes. Outcoached as the game wore on? Absolutely. It's just one game though.
  22. Seems to have D1 quality. Recruiters don't seem to be beating down the door though.
  23. Or any team in 2A not named Luers while you're on the subject.
