I get what your saying about the Moeller comparison. I'm just going by what I saw in person at the state finals. I think EC was too one dimensional to light up the scoreboard against Snider. I see it as a 17-14 type game in either direction. Snider's only game on grass last year was against Mishawaka, so take that for what it's worth. I noticed some footing issues with Snider's offensive players. Also, Snider utterly obliterated Mishawaka's ground attack like no other team had done all season. Take Snider's red zone turnover and a couple of large chunk plays that the Cavemen generated with passes over the top, and you have the makings of a game that came down to wire. It's hard to ignore the fact that Snider kept both Merrillville and Decatur Central out of the endzone. Look, all I've heard since Cathedral left and Snider took their place in 5A was how week that division is. I don't mind defending the Panthers when given the opportunity.

I agree, New Pal and Chatard both would be considered favorites at either level. I like Chatard at this point more than New Pal. I just don't seen anything on their schedule that merits "Top 10 regardless of class) talk. I just think the Top 15 6A teams are being underestimated. -
This is going to hurt some feelings, but East Central wouldn't have matched up well with last year's 5A champ. I know there's been a lot of talk about EC being the best non large division team of all time, but they would have struggled moving the ball last year against Snider. Also, New Pal had some great teams a few years back that could contend for "best smaller school of all time."
-
You're speaking highly of your beloved Chatard. I agree, there's been a few years where Chatard takes out the 5A winner. But 5A's top ten embarrasses 3A's top ten in head to head competition every year. One week Fishers looks like they can give Brownsburg a run for the money, then lose to Carmel the next.
-
True story. And East Noble is 14th this week. That's fourteen places higher than the team they lost to by 25pts. I like Sagarin. It's fun. I appreciate that Jeff does this for Indiana high school sports. I'll never say that it's not worth looking at, because I do all the time. But it can only absorb 10% of your calculation when coming up with a real poll.

I agree, I think 6A dominates the Top 15 with maybe Chatard breaking through. -

Just checked this mornings ratings. Heritage Hills is favored over Center Grove. East Noble comes in at #14, Snider at #28. Snider already beat East Noble by 25pts. I appreciate what Sagarin does for Indiana high school sports, I really do. But you have to take it for what it's worth. -

Historically, it's hard to bet against those two. I still don't see New Pal as a Top 15 (overall) team though. Why is everyone all of a sudden putting this New Pal team in the same category as their 2018 and 2019 programs? I haven't seen them play in person, what am I missing? All I see are blowout wins against sub par 4A opponents. I look at a lot of these polls and see similarities to what I'm seeing on Sagarin. To anyone reading this. Sagarin is LOADED with flaws. They had Columbia City dubbed as the 13th best team in the state before last night for crying out loud. I'm not right very often, but I am right about this. Pollsters need to STOP looking at the Sagarin ratings. -
Wasn't expecting Warren to get blown out like they did. What is your fascination with New Pal? Strength of schedule leaves a lot to be desired. Is having Decatur Central ahead of Martinsville a typo?
-
It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see one of those programs take their fan bases to Lucas. It's a great experience all fans should get.
-
Lol, yes. Reality? Columbia City rolled through the first half of their season like this last year as well. The meat of their schedule is at the end. More losses looming for the Eagles.
-
Ring one up for 5A.
-
So the 13th best team in all of Indiana is getting running clocked by..............East Noble? If that's not an eye opener for those who put too much stock in the Sagarin Ratings, I don't know what is.

Thanks for the response.

If Elkhart wins a close one, coupled with a one point loss to Concord, they're still on the outside of the Top 15. They'd have to beat Penn by 14+ for me to even consider them. Penn on the other hand is a head scratcher. They beat a Valpo team that's down by just a touchdown. Their 20pt loss to Mishawaka gives me lots of reservations. I think they'd have to beat Elkhart by 17+ for me to give them consideration for the Top 15. -

There's fifteen really good teams in 6A, so it's arguable that no one outside of 6A is Top 15. Just as it's arguable that there are a few that are. I still put Mishawaka and Chatard at the top of the list to break into that group. -
So what if I'm planning a trip to Atlanta from Fort Wayne. How do I plan? Two weeks away and the time still hasn't been decided? Maybe this is normal, lol. I dunno.
-
Does anyone know what time Notre Dame plays Georgia Tech on the 19th. All I'm seeing is TBD. Certainly that can't be the case only two weeks away, can it?
-
Lol, something else. Fan, not player.

You guys are putting way too much stock into Sagarin. You're basically saying that eight teams from 4A and 5A belong in the 6A Top 15. I'd argue that maybe two deserve such credit, Mishawaka and Chatard. And I stress "maybe." -

You're right, with so many impressive wins over 4A schools, who wouldn't put them in 6A's Top 15. -
I can relate to that answer. Deep runs in 5A are fun, but so is the competition 6A has to offer.
-
I guess I'm too nice. I root for all my neighbors. I sincerely thought Michigan would be lucky to win six games this year. Kudos to them and their head coach for proving the naysayers wrong. IU passes the eye test. Sure, their opponents haven't been spectacular. And although most on this forum would go broke on my gameday predictions, I'm predicting a war in Bloomington on November 9. Gimmie the Hoosiers at home.
-
I'd argue that every fan base has gracious fans and annoying ones. Sad that I want Michigan to lose because one Michigan guy is obnoxious on an Indiana lake. Sad that I can't stand Xavier basketball because of the way one fan was acting at Butler Fieldhouse. Sad that I root against Louisville because of one fans actions at Joyce Center........damn, almost called it Purcell. And not sad actually, I think the entire athletic department at Louisville is corrupt.

I'm curious as to where Cathedral fans prefer to see their Irish play.
