I like the rule change. Heck, I'm so old I got flagged for a direct from center "spike" to kill the clock in the last two minutes. The kind man in the white hat explained to me that was legal on Sundays, but not on Fridays. But can you clarify the above? I could see going out of bounds a foot short of the LOS, but I'm having trouble picturing a ball that lands (which I interpret as hit the ground) short of the LOS still gaining the exception.

Recruiting $ervices only exist for one reason. They have quickly become the travel ba$eball for football players. I wonder if I can trade in my vacation timeshare for a gold or platinum package of my son’s highlights?

Heritage Hills looked like they would beat Gibson Southern by 3 TD's. (I wasn't there, but that is what you REALLY wanted to ask, wasn't it?) 😄

If you are going to republish TigerFan, he might want to learn the name of Mater Dei’s coach. Just my .02

I thought the proposal was that 8 man would be a spring sport? Since it will offered by non 11 man schools, it wasn’t going to be an issue. I guess that has changed since it does sound like they are planning on this fall.

And I am fully prepared to defend my stance ‘it depends.’ Lol Regarding 5A, I would say yes you need to be able to throw it. But the 1, 2, and 3A levels it is possible to win without throwing the ball. As teams get bigger and the ability to to two platoon gets easier, I say no. At 1A where a team has the same 11 guys who get minimal defense practice, a good rush attack is tough. But at the bigger classes (take Noblesville for example) when an opponent has bigger DL and all 11 can work on a defense game plan all week, the threat of a pass has to be there.

I was a big fan of Bob Lovell’s radio program on Friday nights. I’m not sure if it is still carried in the Evansville/ SW Indiana markets or if he still broadcasts. But I would be willing to listen to a weekly podcast about IN HS football. The ability to listen at my convenience would be great. For those of us on Central time it was tough to hear about some of the EST games that would be well over before my drive home.

Mooresville Pioneers 7on7 tournament

My mistake. Triton Central was at Colts 7. What’s next? Someone going to tell me Pike and Pike Central aren’t the same school too? -

Triton must have had a good Saturday. Didn’t they also have a team at the Colts 7-7? -
Mercy rule a few years
oldtimeqb replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would much rather have a mercy rule than this: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/02/nyregion/football-coach-suspended-sportsmanship.html In this article, it mentions a rule in NY. If a team wins by 42+, the coach must explain to a review panel why a lopsided score could not be avoided. Yikes . -
You said that to a Reitz fan? You chose violence. Lol

lol. Let’s see if I can figure this out:

Excuse my lack of tech savvy, but the Twitters are reporting Ross Fuhs is leaving Forest Park to go to Southridge. I am assuming in an Asst coach role.

Over the Top Recruiting is Getting Ridiculous
oldtimeqb replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The #1 byproduct of social media and I dislike it. So @HHFis this player-driven or bro-coach driven? (Of which Luke Fickell would be a prime example.) -
Pretty sure it’s inaccurate, unless they really have 3 kids wearing #15. The next time Jasper posts a complete roster and stats online it will be the first.

Mercy rule a few years
oldtimeqb replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The only minor tweak I have might be 42 (or 35 + ball). I think a team trailing 35-0 and receiving the second half KO should get a shot. But once it starts, I like the running clock rules. Timeouts and scores are the only stoppages I think. A team up 40 should never have to throw the starting D back in for a goal line stand to keep the clock running. That would be ridiculous. -
The Evansville track scene is the deepest in a long time. Brodie and Thomas, as well as Eli McDurmon, are all medals contenders at the state finals and lead the way. But two other football guys like Dasmon Johnson (EM) and Drew Martin (MD) advanced to regional as well. Johnson was 7th in the 100 and Martin was 7th in the 200. So top 7 in the city was good enough for top 16 in the regional. That is amazing.

The Big 8 in 1990 - Vincennes, Jasper, Washington, Boonville, Mt Vernon (Posey), Tell City, Princeton, and Gibson Southern were a pretty good fit. Gibson Southern was the lone outlier as more of an agrarian community and moved to the PAC in the early/mid 90's. The blue-collar, rust belt communities of Vincennes, Mt Vernon, Washington, and Tell City have all fallen in enrollment. I used to have a spreadsheet with the PAC/Big 8 schools with population and median household income data. Pretty drastic declines for some of these former Big 8 towns, while Jasper and Gibson Southern have thrived. With GS, Tell City, and Mt Carmel all leaving at various times over the last 25 years, Jasper was looking at a 5 team conference that they had really outgrown. That is why it broke apart.

No love for the big guys? LOL Zaven Sebree (Harrison) Garrett Mooney, Timothy Dixon (North) Cole Wilson, Dane Wilson (MD) Dashon Stewart (Central) Ashton Stewart (Bosse) Adam Watson, Will Bracher (Castle) I probably missed a few, but a lot of OL/DL guys placed in the Shot & Discus events.
