  1. On this we can agree. But the question is why? ** As an aside. I don't take much educational advice from Facebook. I have observed the Venn diagram between 1) parents mad at the school system for teaching things without their knowledge and 2) parents mad that teachers send home too much homework - seems to be a perfect circle.
  2. It was all nice until mom freaked out swore we had mice infesting the house. There were droppings all over the place. Turns out we just had the black rubber turf pellets everywhere in foyer.
  3. Germans? Pearl Harbor? Forget it. He's on a roll.
  4. Ugly? As my fraternity brothers would say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.’” I’m out of reactions, but this is me giving the rest of your post a standing ovation. Well, at least once I put the leg rest down on my Lazy Boy. My only question is who will be the other 5 teams to join Brebeuf, Chatard, and Roncalli in the IHSAA mandated sectional? I guess this is the thread where the p/p arguments came to reside. At least it’s better than arguing over the Knox High Commanders nickname.
  5. Thank you @Cyoguru. I was joking, but also genuinely curious about the 3-4 league. I assume a smaller field? 4 linemen and three backs? Or is it 7v7 like a summer passing tournament? Given the Chatard and Roncalli pedigrees I wouldn’t think that would be the case.
  6. A seeded tournament might well have produced a similar result. By my count, GS has beaten 2 non-conference teams with winning records and HH has beaten 3. I have no problem with both teams winning their way to the state semifinals. And 3A south has been a study in shifting demographics. Sullivan, Crawford County, Brownstown Central have all dropped to 2A. Owen Valley, South Dearborn, and Madison have all dropped from 4A to 3A. Southridge now seems to be solidly 3A by enrollment after getting the SF bump.
  7. Wait wait. How can a 3/4th grade team properly execute a double hand-off reverse flea-flicker with only 7 players? Blasphemy. At least please tell me every team has a coach's kid playing QB? That is how youth football should be played. What is the difference between AA and AAA? Is it team size (# of players) or school size? Maybe something else?
  8. I dare you to walk into Jasper and tell them they are really just Pikers.
  9. So we're just gonna ignore WeBo's 3 straight championships in 2A?
  10. This game should be dubbed the Success Factor Bowl. Memorial is still 4A due to the upset win in 2021 vs East Central. This year East Central could secure a 5A spot next year with a win.
  11. They are 4A next year for sure. Doesn’t a rolling 2 year cycle start next year? 2022 & 23 = 2 sectionals. 2 points. If they lose in sectional 2024, then they would only have 1 point for 23&24. Then 3A in 2025. I could be mistaken.
  12. So on the free kick following a fair catch - the "unusual rule" as referenced in this article: https://highschool.si.com/california/2023/10/27/chaparral-beats-roosevelt-with-unusual-free-kick-earns-playoff-berth Ball can be spotted anywhere for the kicker? Thanks.
  13. Forget Google, Microsoft, or Apple. If the US DOJ wants to go after a monopoly, HUDL should be their first target. I'm being somewhat facetious - but I'm not entirely untrue.
  14. Time: 7 pm local time or as determined by host school. Non-EVSC schools are hosting the sectional finals. I think it's pretty clear to see who was in favor of 6:30 start times and who wasn't back when the original vote by AD's was taken.
  15. Other sanctioned sports skip the Semi-State round - Golf, Swimming, Track, and XC I know for sure. For 6A I think 8 team sectionals, a Regional, and then state final makes sense. Since 6A is capped at 32 teams, it will always be a 5 game tournament and you can just group teams by 8's. Not sure I would like that setup for any other classes. Remember when 6A was created they had a "dead week" between semi-state and state finals? Two weeks to prep for state finals, rather than round 1 opponent like currently. That adjustment was made after seeing how the tournament unfolded. I think we have seen enough 4 team sectionals at 6A to know that 8 would be better and the change should be made.
  16. Changing football kickoff for a kickball game? What is this world coming to?
  17. Harold and Ethel have a creek in the back 40. Is that the "livestream" you are talking about? They are just used to watching games on the PhilCo TV.
  18. Couldn't? Or it wasn't in the school's budget to pay the fees to broadcast? Just curious if it was a technical (equipment/people), legal, or financial reason as to why not.
  19. The IHSAA Spring bulletin has 4 pages describing the seeding process for track. Pages 80-84 under the headline XVII. Seeding You may have never heard it used in that manner before but technically it is correct. https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/Spring Bulletin.pdf
  20. I agree with this. We are only talking about 4 games if you really think about it. Jasper vs. HH and Southridge. And GS vs 2 SIAC schools. No other "Big" PAC schools have shown a willingness to schedule a SIAC team.
  21. Is it safe to say all individual sports (wrestling, track, swimming, XC) are seeded but team sports are not? It’s probably the “do it for one, do it for all” that is preventing it. But no other sport has 6 classes either
  22. Tell me you don't know where Heritage Hills (Lincoln City) is located without tell me. LOL I see you fixed it. We should have Heritage play Heritage Hills, Triton play Triton Central, Mt Vernon play Mount Vernon, and Eastern play Eastern. Loser has to change their name. LOL Carroll playing Carroll and North Central playing North Central just seems a bit unfair though.
  23. Oh be still my heart. This sectional would be amazing. Kudos and thanks for the overall work!
  24. Now that the playoffs... I mean postseason tournament... I wonder. Do Mater Dei and Bosse deserve to play next Friday? What I mean is that most states with some sort of playoff qualifier would result in both the Wildcats and Bulldogs turning in equipment Monday instead of playing a 6-3 team next Friday. I personally have no problem with the all-in format vs qualifier. Seeding vs blind draw? Well that is another question. PS - If you haven't read the article in the C&P by @kylesokeland regarding the closed nature of SIAC football scheduling, I highly recommend it.
  25. But based on enrollment they are 4A. And would be a state contender in 5A. The main 5A team down south is Castle. The largest school in the SIAC by far has been to Semi-State 3 times since 2015, and another 2 times have they lost in Regional. Despite their 5A postseason success, they have never won more than 8 games. Regular seasons of 5-4 vs the SIAC 2A-4A schools (plus 5A Ev North) but then win another 3 tournament games in 5A to get to 8 wins. In 2021 5A South, the semi-state contender was New Albany. Who lost by 40 to 3A Gibson Southern earlier that year. That history doesn't indicate a depth of quality in 5A South to me. In which class would it be easiest to win a state title? My answer is 5A. And as @Lysander pointed out, it's been done by a smaller 4A school more often than not.
