  1. Any word on the Central job? Or a timeline of when they might name a new coach? Last time around, Zirkelbach was announced on April 5, but I think Coultis left a little earlier.
  2. Regular season record of 5-4 each of the last 4 years. Jeff Fisher wishes he could be that consistent. 😃
  3. Has Mooresville's run of P5 athletes stopped? I remember they have had several big time recruits - both football and baseball - playing over the last few years but I haven't kept up with them. Plus didn't the younger Gillin leave to coach somewhere else?
  4. I was just giving the breakdown of how many football schools fell in each classification. Not an actual proposal. I started to type a longer post but figured no one really wanted to read it. But since you asked (not really, but just go with me on this...) Those breakdowns could go a few ways. Top-down. Use the 1400+ hard cap for 5A/6A. That leaves 248 for 1A - 4A, or 62 per class if divided evenly. 6A would have 32 and 5A would have 37. Bottom-up. Use the under 325 for 1A - which leaves 50 schools for 1A. Go ahead and make 6A top 32, which would leave 235 for 2A - 5A, or around 59 per class. As a math guy who comes from a small town, I kind of like the 'floor' of under 325 is 1A. 50 schools. Then make 6A the biggest 32 and 5A the next 48. This leaves 62/63 for 2A, 3A, and 4A. What makes basketball so "easy" is they have 16 sectionals and they really don't care about # of teams. There are 5, 6 7 and 8 team sectionals and no one bats an eye. If 5A were 48 teams, that makes 6 team sectionals. If that were the case, should the bye teams face each other in week 2, or both go on the road vs week 1 winners? Competitive balance is important IMO. But then again we're talking about an organization that uses ping-pong balls, so maybe it's not that important???
  5. I think it works with the fixed enrollment better, because one going up doesn't necessarily mean someone comes back down. Using the same cut-offs, based on the last classifications: 1400+(5A/6A) - 68 + Cathedral. This could easily be top 32 are 6A and remaining 37 are 5A 600 -1400 (3A in basketball) - 98 Schools 326 - 600 (2A in basketball) - 100 Schools Under 325 (1A) - 50 schools + LCC when they aren't bumped up
  6. I would assume (and you know what that means) that the last two years would be used instead of resetting every two years. Think about how absurd the SF currently is. We don't know if Mater Dei has achieved enough success points to be bumped up to 3A. Despite being a runner-up in 2021 and winning 2022, if they lose their regional game this fall, they will remain in 2A. A rolling success factor puts them in 3A for the next two years, regardless of what they do this fall.
  7. Basketballs, baseball, and volleyball may soon have fixed enrollment classes (325 for 2A, 600 for 3A, 1400+ for 4A) and a rolling success factor. “Neidig added that the IHSAA is also looking at an alteration to the tournament success factor that would be a “rolling” success factor instead of the current two-year cycle that starts over from zero.” https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/03/22/ihsaa-executive-committee-vote-on-fixed-enrollment-proposal-in-may-iiaaa-indiana-high-school-sports/70036132007/ Not sure fixed classes would be as big an issue, but please let the rolling success factor be applied to football as well!
  8. Not a troll question - but was Davies healthy vs Boonville? Vera at QB is how they beat Castle and Memorial. That is a weapon that I'm sure will be utilized as well.
  9. Rankings are great as long as I remember it's based on projections for the next level. I've seen 5'11 and 6'0 high school players make 6'4 and 6'5 P5 commits look silly.
  10. I would rather regional all-star games expand. For example, the Wabash Valley Coaches Association hosts an all-star game. Last year there were players from 36 schools in Indiana and Illinois. https://www.tribstar.com/sports/local_high_school_sports/far-flung-group-to-play-in-wvfca-all-star-game/article_858abe74-7fdd-513f-8ced-4de2bad151c4.html I would bet Evansville, Ft Wayne, and Da Region could all get enough interest to host a similar regional all-star game. Although, since these players have graduated HS, can a player play in both the Wabash Valley game and the IFCA N-S game?
  11. Yes. His twin younger brothers. I think he was probably the best candidate two years ago when Brashear was hired, but I could see why administrators might have nixed the older brother head coach dynamic.
  12. No. That's good. Reitz is Ivy League of the SIAC.
  13. Thanks for posting! From an SIAC perspective, I knew Vincennes had two really strong lineman returning. The results absolutely confirm that.
  14. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck...
  15. I will type slowly so maybe my point can be understood. Economic development= good. Publicly financed sports stadiums = bad economic policy I can see why apartments, retail/office space, and parking garages provide the perfect Trojan Horse to sneak in a bad idea like a stadium.
  16. My goodness I agree with @Muda69 on something. Good thing Lent starts tomorrow so I can atone for it. Somewhat rhetorical question. Can the development of the former Diamond Chain property go forward without a publicly-financed stadium included?
  17. I should have clarified. As a taxpayer. I don't like the idea of paying 80% of the cost of any professional stadium - soccer or otherwise. This was not my opinion 12-15 years ago. But after examining numerous economic benefit studies, I do not think taxpayers should subsidize for-profit professional sports teams.
  18. Neither. It is minor league (USL) soccer. My friends tell me Indianapolis is "next" for a major league soccer team. So it's the equivalent of the Indy Indians (AAA) in my opinion. I still disagree with the idea. In fairness, the stadium is only part of the development. The $1 Billion tag is the entire development, including apartments, retail/office space, and parking garages.
  19. Ahem. Good for them. But I wonder why they turned off the replies?? 🙂 https://twitter.com/carmelathletics/status/1624518549795487751?s=20&t=s55oPlew82cNU2yE76CP-g
  20. Would have guessed the state's largest school would also be the pettiest? This looks like an overreaction by the Carmel administration. It appears they got beat, so they are taking their ball and going home. At least they can find some swimmers in a school of 5,000 and remain dominant in something.
  21. So you're telling me "Woah??" wasn't a descriptive enough Subject line? LOL It is discussed in that thread
  22. ‘Not a HS position’ - I would assume collegiate? Are there openings at IU on Tom Allen’s staff? How about Purdue?
  23. Go ahead and start a new one. I would happily join there. 2023 - If I am not mistaken, I think for the second year in a row, there has been ZERO coaching turnover? That's pretty impressive, IMO.
  24. Suddenly we are all Center Grove fans. Well, there might be one exception to that. 😂
