  1. Missed it by that much. Anyone want to subscribe to my newsletter? Follow me for great stock market tips, too! 🙂
  2. About the same level of dumb to think the best pool of HS Football Coach candidates are searching for jobs on Facebook. 🙂
  3. https://www.ihsa.org/Sports-Activities/Football/State-Series-Information-Results?url=/data/fb/enrolln.htm Here is the numeric enrollment. If you go up, there is a way to sort school by alphabet if you would rather look that way.
  4. Two matchups I would love to see: Vincennes Lincoln vs Centralia in girls basketball would put the Alices vs the Orphan Annies. Pekin (IL) vs Eastern (Pekin) - a small school tilt that could be billed WWE style as a ‘loser gives up their town name’ flair.
  5. I think the vast majority of those schools would fall in the lower three classes in Indiana. Mt. Carmel - the town not the Chicago version - was very competitive in the Big 8 and would play in the 3A/4A (out of 8 ) class. Depending on which counties would be annexed, I’m sure Breese Mater Dei and Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin would be schools to deal with, because they’re cheating Catholics too.
  6. If it is week 1, it cannot be an Illinois school. Their ‘week 1’ is Indiana’s week 2.
  7. Isn’t that two straight coaches? Szabo and now Paridaen? Does Warrick county pay better than EVSC?
  8. Welcome to senior night… here’s a student who just started in here in August. Let’s give him a hand for attending 3 schools in 4 years…. Sounds riveting.
  9. They may have great steaks and chops, but no way are they #1 on the list for shrimp cocktails.
  10. As if you needed a reason to be obsessed with the SIAC. 😀
  11. I have no definite insights, but I would guess the decision makers think they need to spread things out. Ahrens was starting to do that towards the end of his coaching tenure there before Lewis was hired. I'm sure seeing HH just down the road have success moving from their traditional wishbone to a spread was a big factor too. They probably think there are athletes in the hallways who don't come out for football because of their style of play.
  12. I would think a HS crew would catch this, but alas it doesn't always happen.
  13. I don't think the conference would entertain a school east of US 231 and north of US 50. I have heard some rumors about the TH's North and South, but I just don't see that happening. When Jasper and VL joined, I think the hope was to quickly add two more of GS, Boonville, Heritage Hills, and Mt Vernon. That never happened. I'm pretty sure the conference was gung-ho on an even number. Either 10 or 12. Not sure if the odd number 9 will be changed.
  14. As with most things, blame the Illinois legislature. Spooked Mt Carmel and they bolted. Could the remaining 5 have survived? Princeton, Washington, Lincoln, Mt Vernon, and Boonville? Or would losing Jasper's gate (aka ticket $$) be too much?
  15. I can't comment on your insinuation. But it did spark a curiosity for me. Looking at 2017 numbers, FWCS was by far the largest pool of voucher recipients. FWCS - 4,711 Indianapolis PS - 3,584 South Bend - 2,630 Evansville-Vanderburgh - 1,569 East Allen Schools - 1.011 I get the MSD Township schools of Marion County are in the 500 - 900 range, but what is it about FWCS that made them so voucher-heavy in 2017?
  16. You also cannot take an existing teacher in the building and throw them into the position with minimal background. Might work with individual/team sports like XC, track, tennis, golf, etc. Never would work for football. I've seen schools try this. Bad move.
  17. For what it is worth, Providence named a new principal at the start of 2022 and he took over July 1, 2022. Crazy thing is I didn’t know that until a google search 2 minutes ago. But looking at enrollment numbers I guessed that might have happened. If a p/p school has - shall I say - less than desirable leadership, enrollment can quickly suffer.
  18. I think there is one SW Indiana school who would be interested in joining the SIAC. From the rumors I have heard, there were two other SW Indiana schools who don't want any part of it. I think the other drawback is there are two or three current EVSC schools who have little to no fan support for football.
  19. That is what most were expecting to happen. I had even heard him referred to as the Coach in Waiting. Now we just need to wait for the white smoke from St. Boniface.
  20. Well this is gonna change. 14 news reporting Goebel has announced his retirement
  21. So about Illinois (see above) Their multiplier is pretty much what I would say is pretty inconsistent. No playoff wins in two years and the multiplier is waived. And classes aren’t set until the playoff qualifiers are selected. What it boils down to: 7/8 of their state championships were won by P/P schools. Public school fans weren’t happy. Indiana - success factor. 5/6 titles won by public schools… and public school fans still aren’t happy. As @foxbat said. There will still be complaints regardless of the system due to perceived advantages.
  22. This to me is the big question mark. I was not necessarily surprised by the change, but that breaks up a relatively stable group of "experienced" coaches in the SIAC. 1. Goebel - 28 years 2. Hurt - 19 years 3. Hurley - 17 years 4. Salters - 8 years 5. Paridaen - 7 years 6. Lewis - 6 years (now open) 7. Brunson - 5 years 8. Sutton - 5 years 9. Mullen - 4 years 10. Artis - 2 years I want to say it will be a wide open conference race next year. But I have thought the same the last few years and the winner has been 9-0 every year since 2020.
  23. @Titan32 are you suggesting the conference could soon have two wildcats and two knights? Or I guess alternatively Alice could be putting on her western wear?
  24. No kidding. But it’s all about the kids right? it’s just another example of the Indy-centric thinking by the IHSAA brass. They fail to realize that Indianapolis is a destination point. it’s not just mom and dad, but also grandparents, older siblings, aunts, and uncles, and so forth who are spending a holiday weekend together. They’ve all gathered to watch Johnny play in the state championship. They just want to give him a hug and congratulate him. They may not have the ability to drive back to Fort Wayne, Evansville , Crown Point, etc. it’s no big deal to go back to the high school to celebrate when it is barely past 465. But if it’s a 2+ hour drive away it’s a completely different story.
